Paul on Jimmy Kimmel - September 23

A couple more observations: a) When Paul is performing he looks like he's having the most fun he can possibly imagine. He lives for this. b) The commenters on MySpace loved "Everybody Out There." c) This man not only has more energy at 71 than I have at 57, he has more than I had at 37. And somehow he looks younger than he has in years. I think he knows he's got a knockout album coming out and is having an absolute blast.

Wow, I had my sweet 16th Maaca show tonight from one of the bridges in Hollywood and Highland (and Sir Paul and the boys gave us a lot of attention)! He really brought the rockers tonight and the new tunes all sounded great and youthful. Hard to pick a standout but Day Tripper was awesome. The Fenway show in July was epic and with this surprise a few months later and free, it's been a good 2013!

I just got home. I stood 7 hrs and my feet were killing me. Anyway, I still can't believe that I saw Sir Paul for free again! (I was also at Amoeba few yrs ago) it was awesome. Paul McCartney on Hollywood Bl? Oh Yeah! All three new songs, Another Day, Junior's farm, Band on the run, Let It Be were highlight of the night to me. Unlike his live CDs, His vocal was really strong and performance was just great. My seat was way way back from the stage but there's a pretty good TV screen so, it wasn't bad at all. Love the new stage set, the show was only one hr but we got sound check while waiting for line. I'll watch JKL in hr! Snuffy a couple of photos from the after the show - https://picasaweb.google.com/116751324549930992838/PaulMcCartneyHollywoodBl92313?authkey=Gv1sRgCP-SkvewjcWRywE

Loved the Wings-heavy set list. I missed Paul's entrance on the show because I went to play on the computer thinking Dempsey would be on first. I heard Paul's voice talking and ran out. (Hope I catch what I missed on youtube tomorrow). The stream? The camera man was too coked up or something. was really changing the angle every 25 seconds at first and made me pretty dizzy. He seemed to slow down a bit later on but I'm feeling very happy right now. Best comment I read on myspace (which still sucks) was "That man=good energy"

-
And that, my friends, is a REAL entertainer! What a talent. God, I love that man!
-
The stream got crazy in the middle, and made ME crazy, stopping and chopping. Maybe because I wasn't logged into myspace? But then it started working perfectly again, for a good finish, fortunately.

I went tonight. Just moved. To LA from NYC. Saw Macca in NYC and Boston this year. Was very "Paul" satisfied for a year then hear about this show. Entered lottery. Was selected then got an email saying I had been upgraded to priority and would be in the front pin. Amazing. Watched from about 100 ft. Closest I have ever been at a Paul show. So good. Man clearly loves what he does. We are lucky. http://instagram.com/p/eoT3HmMQsj/

LetMeRollIt89:
Paul's "Abbey Road" story was great. My favorite part of the interview. His little pose cracked me up. Also, "In Spite Of All The Danger" was McCartney/Harrison, wasn't it? So that wouldn't have been the first Lennon/McCartney tune.
Wasn't the first Lennon/McCartney song called 'Thinking about Linking'? I think they wrote a lot more too before I Saw Her Standing There..maybe it's the first they wrote that they ended up releasing?

Being picky but anyone else concerned that Magical mystery Tour has suddenly become the opener again? I know it's not a full fledged show but Eight days a week rocked as the opener and he didn't do it at iHeart nor tonight.

We (my husband, 2 kids and I) were at both the inside show taping and the concert--what an experience!! We got into our line in the alley behind the theater at around 3:00. Paul arrived at around 3:20, and he stopped and waved to everyone in line. The audience was supposed to be let in at 4:30, but it was more like 5:15 when they let us in. There were only around 15 people in front of us in the regular line, but the radio winners, vip's, and priority line went in before us. After we got in, only about 15 more people were let in to the show, although there were at least 100 people behind us in line. They let us go to the restroom, and when I did, I saw Abe, and met Guillermo lol. The excitement inside kept building. At one point they asked who had seem Paul in concert before, and the vast majority of people had never seen him before. But there were also a few die-hard fans in the audience. The show began (really fun), and when Jimmy did a sketch with Guillermo about Beatles lyrics, Paul came out for a few seconds. The crowd went wild. Most of what we saw at the taping was shown on tv, except for a few extras. We were told not to stand at all during the show, but we all stood and gave Paul a standing ovation when he came out. Jimmy mentioned this in the show. Jimmy's parents were in the audience, just to see Paul, and during a commercial break Jimmy introduced his parents to Paul. During other commercial breaks, Kimmel and Paul people surrounded Paul and Jimmy, but Paul did interact with the audience. He was absolutely charming as usual! After Paul's segments were over, Patrick Demsey came out, and he was great too. But of course, even though I'm a fan of his, I couldn't wait to get to the concert. As soon as Demsey's segment was over, they escorted us outside to the front section. We waited for a short time, and then the concert began. We were really close, and it was fantastic. Great to hear the new songs live! Sorry I don't have more details--I'm exhausted from moving my daughter into the dorms at college. She missed an entire day of mandatory events at her dorm today, but couldn't care less because she got to see Paul today!

I'm wondering why Paul and band left off the 'barbershop quartet' ending when performing New - it's one of the more redeeming features of that song...they did the same thing during the Vegas show

Terrific story - thanks for sharing that

just saw the TV version of the interview and show. I really liked the interview, I thought Jimmy and Paul were funny, Paul his charming self, as usual. When Paul said I Saw Her Standing There was the first Lennon/McCartney; I was like 'huh?' but maybe Paul meant the first really famous song he wrote with John? A few great lines from the interview (paraphrasing): "You have research, I have memories" "Me and George used to sit there all night (elbowing each other) You ask her to dance, no you" "The Beatles has to lie underneath a lot of people" My line that made me laugh out loud was when Jimmy asked Paul about any 'regular job' he had before becoming famous & Paul told a story about being a second lorry driver & Jimmy said, "This is a totally uninteresting story, except for the fact that you are the one telling it" Which I think is so funny, because Paul could talk for hours on anything, hell, he could read a dictionary and it will be interesting/entertaining because it is Paul McCartney telling it

That's right, McCartney is endlessly interesting what with his rich teeming past and present, with the surprises afforded by his immense always renewing talents (he gave "New" the soft sell again on Jimmy Kimmel while speaking with him) and inexhaustible store of stories. He oughta get a kick out of dredging his mind for more new tidbits for everybody, who hang on his every word--I had never known he was a "second lorry driver" and immediately imagined him working at that, going on the little trips in Northern England as a lad. It's time he gets his own movie along the lines of "Nowhere Boy" (not that he probably yearns for it). Got such a big rush of pleasure when he vigorously launched into "Lady Madonna" last night after his "New" song outside on Hollywood Blvd., on Kimmel's show. Both songs sound similarly upbeat and jaunty. Made me mindful again that track listing and song sequence are very important. Suddenly I rediscovered the beauties of "Lady Madonna" all over again, fantastic ditty "New" was very intriguing. O how I love that man and his music, he's fabulous

-
He used his colorful magic piano for "New" and "Lady Madonna," which added a lot to the experience (LOL) Noticed his white shirt made him really stand out from Rusty and Brian, attired in their black. "Diva" Paul demanding the spotlight? He's got that right! He's entitled!Rusty and Brian, self-effacing as they are on stage with him, still doubtless feel the honor and glory of sharing the stage with him. They do get noticed themselves, too. And Abe
