The last tour went on for 2,5 years with the same core setlist, the tour before for almost 2 years as well, this tour had only gigs in half a year so far... The only change he's going to do next year is something among the lines for Desert Trip: beaten down 2002-2013 setlist staples swapped with same category songs.
Just curious, why do Europeans write 2,5 instead of 2.5 to mean 2 1/2? Never could figure that out.
Hm, in my language the dot would refer to a different version of a type. And we could never warm up to American ideas on temperature and dates ;)!
What do you mean "a different version of a type?" Do you mean that a dot means something else to you? In mathematics it is used all the time (2.1, 2.2, 2.3, etc. etc.) Like 2.2 + 2.3 = 4.5 And I gave up on temperatures and dates a long time ago!
Haha, I can see why! It would mean a sub-version, if that makes sense, like the new iOS 10, being 10.1.1. I obviously always try to adapt to the correct rules of the language I'm speaking, and I didn't really know this was a difference, to be honest! (For example the French have an extra space after punctation marks, and some incorporate that in English language as well, which I would personally never do.) So I mean, I guess it will take another month or 2**.**5 before we maybe get a tour rumour or two ;).

I just can't understand why he doesn't do Uncle Albert. It was such a megahit and he has completely ignored it. Why not replace something that's old and tired with this 70's classic?

"There are a couple of songs - it's not that I don't want to do them. We've rehearsed them. But I just couldn't make 'em work. Or they sounded more like records than live songs. "The Back Seat of My Car" [on 1971's Ram] - I always thought that would be good. "Uncle Albert" ["Uncle Albert/Admiral Halsey," also on Ram] - I thought that might be nice. We tried "Back Seat of My Car," and it just seemed a bit complicated." http://www.rollingstone.com/music/features/paul-mccartney-talks-vip-soundcheck-shows-its-a-tribal-ritual-w433307 It's really a shame, it could've beefed up the predictable setlists through the years so well, but now it's too late.

Paul could be play this songs just for the soundcheck instead of the same boring songs like "Matchbox" "Honey don't" etc

I wouldn't get that excited about the new setlist, the One on One setlist was a joke & it didn't even feel like a new tour. I do believe New, Queenie Eye & Save Us are finished. As it seems like he's not touring until the new album is released & will replace those songs with songs from the new album

Yup. Just a new leg from the same tour means no changes at all, or 3-4 changes max throughout the tour.

aside from the new album songs, whatever small changes happen will be trotting out songs he's done in previous tours (early or mid 2000s) as opposed to never before done live or not since Wings *sigh*

that said, if he could still handle them vocally, I'd still love I'll Get You, She's A Woman, She Came in Through The Bathroom Window, Only Mama Knows, For No One, Fixing A Hole, Getting Better (doubt he could do it though), Penny Lane, Good Day Sunshine, Please Please Me, I Will, I'll Follow The Sun, C Moon, Flaming Pie, etc... there is a lot to choose from... We'll never see them, but Getting Closer, Mamunia, Helen Wheels, Warm and Beautiful, Waterfalls, Figure of Eight, Winedark Open Sea and Alligator would all be great too...

If Paul does any shows next year, what do you expect to see in his setlist? Based on the setlist from Desert Trip... Do you all think the number of songs from NEW will be reduced? Do you think "Day Tripper" & "Jet" will return? Do you think "Why Don't We Do It in the Road" be something more than a time thing? Just some thoughts... Keeps all speculation reasonable. I'm honestly curious what you all think.
I would expect minor changes. Maybe a couple different Beatle/Wings songs and if he has new record to promote they would replace songs from "New".
-
I thought Day Tripper was much more energetic in the spot of 5th place. I hope he keeps that. I wouldn't be surprised see a soundcheck favorite or two come back, maybe Things We Sa9d T0day and Coming Up...
-
Before I forget, 'You Never Give Me Your Money' in a full electric version is still a dream as well.

Gotta admit I was pretty peeved in 2002 when he played it and it WASN'T the full version...
-
I hope to hear "Some other guy" and "Do you want to know a secret", both played during some rare soundchecks many years ago. "I wanna hold your hand", rehearsed with this band but never played live.
-
Paul needs to pull out his killer "granny" songs - Maxwell's Silver Hammer, Honey Pie, Rocky Racoon, Martha My Dear, etc. People would kill to hear Maxwell live.

Well it looks like he is playing Japan in April so that gives him plenty of time to rehearse with the band and shake up the set list. I believe Japan heard songs from "New" years ago so why not play some different ones like "I Can Bet", "Early Days" and "Alligator". Replace "Temporary Secretary" with "That Was Me". Replace "Benefit Of "Mr. Kite" with "Hope Of Deliverance" or "My Brave Face". Hope he replaces "In Spite Of Danger also, "Rocky Racoon" would be cool if he feels he needs a Beatle song. IMO - no reason not to shake the set list up a bit.
-
Alligator and Rocky Racoon would be excellent

Seeing as 2017 will host the One on One Tour once more, I suspect miniscule change. Basically, he'll drop the songs from his 2013 album until he releases his next at some point this year. If we're lucky, there will be a grace period between the tour beginning and the album dropping and he may dust off a couple less common songs from his Beatles and Wings back catalog to fill those spots. Such as... Save Us -> Jet New -> Penny Lane Queenie Eye -> ...eh. This one will probably stick as it's easy for the fans to join in on even if they've never heard it before. ...and I suppose the garbage he did with Kanye will stick until the new record drops too.

I agree there will probably be minor change but was hoping again (lol) for more than a song or two. If he replaces the "New" songs with what you mentioned, it will be a big letdown for me. This is a great chance to really do something different and people can't say he does not have enough time to do it. No idea when the new album will be ready so that is a big question mark. Would McCartney do a song from new album even if it was not released yet? I agree with you about "45 Seconds" but like "My Valentine" it is not going anywhere - lol. Let's hope that since he played Japan in 2013 he will makes this set list "minty fresh" - lol

With the exception of "Follow Me" (or 'any destination') at Glastonbury, has Paul ever played a song from a new album (not a single, movie song etc.) prior to release? I think Four Five Seconds will definitely hit the road once the new record drops. It all hinges on the new album and I've heard nothing to suggest it would be ready in time for these dates.

I remember when NEW was about to come out, he did New, Save Us and Everybody Out There at the iHeart Radio Festival and Jimmy Kimmel. They were a part of album promo (though the Jimmy Kimmel set was an hour long) so that may not count.
