2017 Setlist Speculation Thread

I have seen it go both ways live. I heard it's American debut in Philly and it got a huge reaction...then I heard it two nights later in Charlottesville and it totally tanked. Other crowds have fallen in between I've gone with taken three different people to see him while this was in the set, ranging in age from 21 to 73...and none of them liked it. It's just because it so unconventional and not a poster-child Paul McCartney song. It doesn't work in the context of this show. If Paul committed more of the show to this kind of material (NOT that I am advocating for that) it would work better. If he actually cared about playing something from McCartney II...why not put "Coming Up" in its place? I've never heard it live and I'm sure many others would love to hear it. It was a fairly big hit and it fits the show AND it'll please the folks that desperately want solo songs.

Fell down the YouTube rabbit-hole watching Coming Up versions just now - even though his voice is weaker, I love the '13 6 Music version SO much more than the '89 version. For better or worse, the '02- band is much more of a band than the '89-93 crew.

I completely forgot that it got played on that show...just looked it up and geez that was rough. The band was flawless as usual and then the lead vocal line just sank the whole ship.

Coming Up appears in soundcheck every so often, so it would be an easy add to the setlist.

Maybe we'll see a song from the upcoming album on the Japan shows? Like he did in 2013

I thought that before New was released, it was only special appearances like iHeart Radio etc & the new songs didn't come into the show until November 2013 when he did his Japanese shows?

For me Paul will open with "Sgt Pepper" and will sing also the reprise at the end like during the 2003 tour. A surprise song could be "Lucy in the sky" instead of Mr Kite.

Sgt Pepper can be a surprise opener instead of A Hard Day's Night, but I don't think he will end with the reprise and pretty sure he won't play Lucy in the Sky. Time will tell...

Unfortunately Paul can't hit the high notes on SP (non-reprise version) anymore. Remember the performance with Ringo a couple of years ago? It took his voice to the limit. Pretty unlikely that he will do that ever again. He will probably re-unveil 'Fixing A Hole' (in a lowered key like during the US 2005 tour), Gettin' Better, She's Leaving Home or A Day In The Life / GPAC (which made a comeback during the Desert Trip performances, Paul's last live appearences up to date). I hope we also get 64, which isn't hard at all in terms of high notes.

Lovely Arita is another possibility. Getting Better will be great!

He can't sing "She's Leaving Home" anymore. "Getting Better" and "Fixing a Hole" would be incredible...I've LOVE to finally hear them.

Since he's already doing Mr. Kite, I bet that one stays in.

I disagree. Hope it removes it for anything else!

Lovely Rita, Fixing A Hole, Penny Lane are the additions I want to see.

Penny Lane is top of my list. PERIOD. That is the Number One song he has done over the years that I haven't heard...and yes, I know he is notorious for not reaching the notes, flubbing the bass line, and missing the lyrics but I don't care. It is Penny Frickin' Lane and I need to hear Paul sing it in person before one of us dies.

If there was ever a time to break out the Rick again, it's now

I think it's safe to say there's a better chance of hearing Penny Lane!

Of course he sang it during the one tour I missed, 2005! https://www.paulmccartney.com/live/atlanta-0 That was a great set list!

So many great songs on that tour that haven't been back since. I know some people here have probably heard a lot of these but I would be ecstatic if any of these came back as I've never heard them: I'll Get You Fine Line For No one Fixing a Hole English Tea I'll Follow The Sun Follow Me Too Many People She Came in Through The Bathroom Window Good Day Sunshine PENNY LANE ...and Please, Please Me! ...phew!

I know! I could kick myself for not shelling out the money to go!!
