Seeing as 2017 will host the One on One Tour once more, I suspect miniscule change. Basically, he'll drop the songs from his 2013 album until he releases his next at some point this year. If we're lucky, there will be a grace period between the tour beginning and the album dropping and he may dust off a couple less common songs from his Beatles and Wings back catalog to fill those spots. Such as... Save Us -> Jet New -> Penny Lane Queenie Eye -> ...eh. This one will probably stick as it's easy for the fans to join in on even if they've never heard it before. ...and I suppose the garbage he did with Kanye will stick until the new record drops too.
I agree there will probably be minor change but was hoping again (lol) for more than a song or two. If he replaces the "New" songs with what you mentioned, it will be a big letdown for me. This is a great chance to really do something different and people can't say he does not have enough time to do it. No idea when the new album will be ready so that is a big question mark. Would McCartney do a song from new album even if it was not released yet? I agree with you about "45 Seconds" but like "My Valentine" it is not going anywhere - lol. Let's hope that since he played Japan in 2013 he will makes this set list "minty fresh" - lol
With the exception of "Follow Me" (or 'any destination') at Glastonbury, has Paul ever played a song from a new album (not a single, movie song etc.) prior to release? I think Four Five Seconds will definitely hit the road once the new record drops. It all hinges on the new album and I've heard nothing to suggest it would be ready in time for these dates.
"With the exception of "Follow Me" (or 'any destination') at Glastonbury, has Paul ever played a song from a new album (not a single, movie song etc.) prior to release?" The only thing I can think of was "Freedom" which nobody heard it before the 9/11 concert and it was not on DR in the beginning.

I've personally heard two songs: "Coming Up" was played on the 1979 Wings tour, of course, with the single coming from the 2nd night at Glasgow. That was prior to the song's official release on McCartney II. Paul would introduce it as "a new song that hasn't been released yet." And I don't believe "Cut Me Some Slack" had been released yet when Paul and the members of Nirvana performed it at the 12-12-12 concert. I think that was a world premiere.

Forgot about "Coming Up" and I have bootleg of that concert. As for "Cut Me Some Slack", I don't really count that as a Mr. McCartney song. It was basically a jam session that got some big publicity so it then was released on ITUNES a couple of days later.

I wonder if we'll ever get Please, Please Me again... Would be a great opener if he could sing it. If they played the US Tour version, and Abe filled in on the really high stuff, I think it could be pulled off. I'll Get You again would be really cool, or even Till There Was You.

I'd gladly take any of them!!!

The song was played on the whole tour, not just at Glasgow.

True, but it was Paul performing a world premiere song that nobody had ever heard before. So I count it.

Wow this thread grew quite a lot!! I honestly hope when the Japan shows come around we see some variation. I for some reason have been getting a feeling that A Day in the Life may actually return after being outed a Desert Trip. Maybe it's just me. I would hope Paul drops 2 of the 3 of the New songs. I think Queenie Eye is probably the one that should stay, the other two are just very bland in the live setting (at least to me). Maybe that'll open up some spots for experimentation. I hope the fact that he is playing in Japan will somehow given him some inspiration. I would love to get a song from Flowers but I highly doubt that'll happen. I don't really even think his voice could handle any of those songs. I fear there would be a lot of "growling" :

Actually, I believe he can sing Figure of Eight pretty easily
-
He could sing an of the FITD stuff if he wanted to, but it would probably come out just as hit or miss as the rest of the set. What matters is that he doesn't want to...
-
He could pull off Put it There or Figure of Eight, maybe My Brave Face or This One

For some reason what I'm hearing in my head doesn't sound too good. Even if he can't handle them it would still be neat to get one in the set, possibly in the "Temporary Secretary" is in.

What do you all think about Sgt. Pepper (or something else from the album) being in the set for the 50th anniversary? Quite honestly, I'd love to see Pepper played again like I'll it was in 1989/90.
-
I doubt he'll even make mention of it. However, I think it would be a truly kickass opener and then segue into something instead of "little help..."

Do we really doubt what the set list will be? **LOTS of Beatles **A decent handful of Wings, mostly staples like My Love and Band on the Run **If he has a new album, a handful of tunes from it **If we're lucky, maybe one or two solo or Wings rarities Zzzzzzzz...

Unfortunately, I think you're probably right Bruce.
-
His One on One setlist was a complete let down. Also it's not only the setlist, it's the stage patter as well. Like we all know when he met the Russian Officials, George playing the ukulele, Here Today is the conversation he never had, Hendrix learned Sgt Peppers within two days of release with Clapton in the audience, etc. They're good stories but a man like Paul will surely have a lot of other interesting stories to tell instead of recycling the same stories again

That's even more than what's to be expected unfortunately. This is not the time for the talk about a setlist shake-up. It's just another leg, do do do do do do. It's about whether 'Jet' will come back for a Tokyo Dome gig and if he might place 'Birthday' as first or second song of the encore, and that's about it. Maybe 2 or 3 new songs later in the year.

yes absolutly. Doubtless this guess becomes true (unfortunately . I suppose only a mirrow universe could offer a real new concert experience...

Sadly this is all true.
