Stones vs. Paul

I've seen Macca and the Stones about 30 times each. I saw Macca in Stl on 11/11 and the Stones in NJ 12/15. I gotta give the edge to the Stones. At least they change their setlist when they are on tour. The 2002-2003 tour they did was absolutely fantastic! 1 club show with rare songs, 1 arena show with rare songs and hits, and 1 stadium show with mostly hits. Absolutely fantastic idea! Paul sounded great in STL, but the Stones rocked NJ like no other. Anybody who would suggest they are mediocre is lying to themselves. Im surprised nobody mentions The WHo in this debate. They're just as good as Paul and the Stones.
I saw both those shows (12/13 and 12/15) and the Who quite a few times. I couldn't argue with anyone who chose any one of the three as their favorite. My personal choice would be McCartney, but the Stones really, really rocked NJ!! Definitely my favorite Stones concert.( Shelley sighting at the Stones concert.)

I saw there Stones in 2005 and 2006 (just two times altogether). One was an arena the other a stadium. Had a seat 5 rows off the floor in the center back for the arena and center field tickets for the stadium that turned into front row for the B-stage because I saw them the year before and knew what to do. Thought both shows were great. No where near as profound/meaningful/exciting/memorable as a Paul McCartney concert, but I think I paid $150 and $180 for the tickets. *forget 64* did you see them in 2005 and 2006 and can comment on then vs. 2012? I just learned last night that a friend of mine is getting some funds he's been waiting on and he/we just might be road tripping this summer to every McCartney show or close to it. Needless to say, I might see every Paul show, probably no Stones show. But that's just my preference. I might see the Stones if it's close, no Paul around, and pay around $50 then sneak into a section that doesn't suck (a $50 seat will suck).

Paul hands down for me

I did see them in 05, 06, I think at Madison Square Garden (can't find the ticket stub I usally keep them all). I have also seen them in 3 other tours. They always put on a hell of a concert, but in 2012 they blew the place up! Far and away my favorite Stones concert! I thought it was special! I much prefer a Paul McCartney concert but that's just my preference. He's the only artist I travel to see.

The Stones in concert are hit-or-miss with me. I love almost every track on their '98 live-album No Security, yet I barely listen to an earlier live-album Flashpoint. In 1989, both The Stones and Paul embarked on their first tours following a long hiatus. Both released new albums that year, and I remember being irritated that Steel Wheels' singles were major radio-hits in America, and I have not one, sole memory of hearing a Flowers In The Dirt single on the radio. Also: It's just my little theory, but I feel that The Stones' continued touring is a factor in Paul's Beatles-heavy setlists. A competitive type thing, and Paul is carrying the weight of keeping The Beatles foremost in our minds as the most influential band to come out of the 1960s.

I saw the stones a few times. The first one was great. Some years ago I choosed to buy front of stage tickets and was disappointed. Nowadays I don't go to their shows anymore. I really really contempleted to see the who in Amsterdam. In the process of thinking Paul announced Vienna, so my decision was clear. Last year I saw tom petty and loved it very very much!!!!! There is one band I love the same like Paul: the kinks.

Stones vs. Paul? No comparison, Paul wins and wins big. What I don't like about him is how he is doing this tour is....where is the new album? He 's doing all these summer dates and then puts our a new album late in the year, at least we hope so. He needs to go Out There once he has finished up his work In There (the recording studio0 and has so fresh material to take on stage.

Bingo! Why the rush to tour without an album? And why the ad-hoc way of releasing gig information? Surely the shows can't be that different to what he's done in the past few years. I agree, Paul has it all over the Stones, but when it comes to tour savvy, the Stones know how to promote and promote well.

Yo know, I might just go see the Stones in Chicago as it's only a couple hours away for like $100, just so I can appreciate Paul that much more. Not that the Stones aren't a good show, but you're comparing them to the very best in the world.

Yep. I love The Fabs and I like the Stones too. There's room for all...

the cheapest tickets are $150 before TM charges.

No Stones show for me this tour. That's cool, I have seen them three time, really enjoyed them each concert. Still waiting for Paul dates to be announced.
-
Money permitting, I'll see both. If I have to choose: *This* time, the Stones would "win", only as I've seen Macca 9 times now and the Stones just the once (in December). I thought they were great - just seeing/hearing "You Can't Always Get What You Want" live with the Trinity Street (NY) Choir more than made it worth every penny - and would love to see them again, especially as I do think this may *finally* indeed be it tourwise for them. Mick Taylor said to be playing *all* the shows this time out too is a huge checkmark in that column as well. As good as Rusty is, that's the equivalent of Jimmy McC coming back (if he only could!) to play with Macca. Paul will always win any overall showdowns but unless I hear that he's pulling out some WOA classics this time out ("Soily" please!!) and I've got to choose...well, let's just hope I don't have to as I'd really like to see both. Right now though, a ticket for the Stones in Toronto has got my name on it..I hope! @ Audi - you seriously didn't hear "My Brave Face" on the radio in 89? It got played **a ton** on the radio over here in NY as did "This One". That's crazy if it wasn't played out your way.

The Stones announced ten shows today. I hope Paul announces more soon. Maybe this coming Monday!

There are also the elusive $85 tickets (over 1,000 per show) that were sold as pairs only and could be anywhere in the arena (including the tounge pit). The true location of the tickets won't be reveled until 90 minutes prior to the show where you must pick them up at the box office. There you will be escorted immediately into the arena. I got a pair of the $85 ticket for May 31 at the United Center in Chicago!

Let us know what you wind up with after show... Kind of an interesting mystery deal... Will they put you in the front pit, or stick you in the worst obstructed view nosebleeds? Fun!

THAT is the age old question...Beatles or Stones...ever since they became famous. I, of course, would pick the Beatles (Paul) over the Stones. The President picked the Stones. I even have a book on it. http://www.amazon.com/Beatles-vs-Rolling-Stones-Opinions/dp/B005K5KKE6 excerpts are here: http://leisureblogs.chicagotribune.com/turn_it_up/2010/10/beatles-vs-rolling-stones-sound-opinions-on-the-great-rock-n-roll-rivalry-an-excerpt.html
Obama chose The Stones over Paul? After he had Paul in his living room?
Shows you something about the smarts of the guy..LOL

Wow, a good score! How did you buy them, was it a special pre- sale? All the venues listed on Ticketmaster show the cheapest seat (even if it's not available) at around 150.00
