Went to my first concert! Yay They made us show our vaccination card too! Everyone was so so very happy to be seeing live music. I was just “Sailing” the musical waves all night! Can’t wait for the next concert now!
I'm glad you got to see a concert love2travel! I'm seeing my first concert since before covid on Oct 23 and can't wait!
Hi Paulfan11
I'm so glad that you got to see a concert too! I saw Steely Dan 2x and Christopher Cross! We had to show our vaccine cards. Yay, I felt safer. Hope you're doing well!December 21 was the best ever month right before Omicron. I went to see Steely Dan twice with some college buddies, went to two different Craft Shows and bought myself a little ring as a present for making it through Covid so far. Then I went to DC with a couple of Science/Cosmology friends from college, where we went to the Air & Space museum and some art museums. It was the best month in a couple of years We got home right before Omicron.
I know we're all praying this summer is going a game changer, since so many people finally got vaccines. Starting to book some things again. Darn, just heard Hong Kong is having an increase in Covid. Still going somewhere though. -

What makes me smile? Sunshine makes me smile (hum John Denver song -lol). Looking at pictures of my daughters when they were children always makes me smile. My wife wearing a LBD on a cruise makes me smile - ha ha. Hitting a tennis "winner" in a match makes me smile. Talking to my brother on the phone makes me smile. Listening to Paul McCartney sing a multitude of "rockers" makes me smile. Petting my daughter's dog makes me smile. I could go on but this was just a few things that quickly came to me.

Great things! Here's what will make me smile on Tuesday, Aug. 23rd: Uneventfully getting to the subway station and getting to the Atlanta airport at least 3 hours before our flight. A short line to check our bags. A relatively short time getting through security and then customs. Having time to eat something before the flight. And finally, if the plane is no more than an hour late taking off. Delta/Virgin Atlantic has a pretty good reputation especially in Atlanta since it is Delta's home base. Virgin Atlantic hasn't canceled any of their flights this summer like so many other airlines have.
Once we get to Manchester, then Liverpool and the vacation begins, I know I'll have a lot of things to smile about!

Well, I hope you are smiling a bunch that day!! We have to fly American a bunch since they are the hub in Charlotte. We use the "self service" kiosks for getting baggage label to drop off bags at counter. This has never taken more than a couple of minutes, we last did it for our Alaskan trip in June. I assume Atlanta is pretty decent airport for food, never hung around in it . The few times I have stopped there it has been to make quick connnection. Will be flying Delta with stop in Atlanta in September, my wife wanted to use her miles. I am expecting the crowds in airports to start decreasing now with kids heading back to school, especially college students. Less people will be going on vacation so you may be in luck. Yes, you do have a lot to smile about and like I said to BJ, it will be trip of a lifetime for you. Liverpool is one of those bucket things for me, not sure if it will get done but we will see. Good luck !! Got my fingers crossed for you that all goes fairly smoothly -lol

Hey Yankeefan and Nancy....lf you get Prime, I saw a terrific movie recently. It is "13 Lives" Directed by Ron Howard. I just saw it for the 2nd time yesterday because my Aunt came over to our house and it was just as good the 2nd time. If you haven't seen it, it's a great one. A little long but it keeps you on the edge of your seat.

Thanks! I'm hoping you're right about the crowds. Atlanta does have great food at all the (many) terminals! Of course it's expensive, but all airports are.
This will be my 5th trip to Liverpool and 6th to London. Also traveled to England, Wales & Edinburgh in 1980 with my mom and all over England + Edinburgh in 2006 with my kids. Only time didn't go to Liverpool was in 1980.
You really need to plan a trip over there asap. Go with Charles Rosenay's tour group (used him in 2016) He's the best! They are staying at the same hotel we are this year (and so are my 3 friends from CA!)

Based on the true story of the rescue of the soccer team in that flooded cave. Thanks for the recommendation.

I am just finishing bingeing season 2 of The Wilds on Amazon Prime. And House Of The Dragon (Game Of Thrones prequel) premiered on HBO & HBO MAX tonight! Matt Smith (Doctor Who) is in it!

Just finished watching it and it was excellent. Amazing rescue effort. Ron Howard is such a good director and been involved in so many great films. Thanks again for your recommendation.

Getting to two "Got Back Concerts" this year. Getting to see Crowded House in Barcelona with the Gaudi Architecture and the hop on hop off bus which took us on two tours of the city. Going to England to see my friends I haven't seen since Covid. Getting to see Joan Jet, Def Leppard, Motley Crue and Poison all in one concert with another friend. Yay concerts again!

Only was in Barcelona once and loved it. Did tour of "Sagrada Familia" which was wonderful. Funny thing was my wife and I got on "Hop On Hop Off" bus and within 20 seconds the bus was playing the song "Barcelona" by Ed Sheeran -lol.

Pretty cool to hear about Ed Sheeran's song "Barcelona" playing when you got on the bus! Always wanted to see the Gaudi Architecture and the whole city seemed to have great architecture. I liked sitting at all the outdoor cafes at night, having a bite to eat and just enjoying the ambiance. It's a late night town and it felt like I went back in time, when life was less complicated. Got a chance to use my Spanish too! Un vacación muy bueno.

Yes, the archictecture is amazing all through the city. We found a neat little tapas place after our tour which was real nice. I used my HS Spanish a couple of times, more or less asking a question or saying thanks for something. We basically had 24 hours in Barcelona (not enough), our cruise ship departed from there the next day. Glad you vaction was very good -lol.

The friend I'm in Liverpool now with had her Crowded House concert cancelled. She couldn't go to Ringo's rescheduled concert because it was on the same day as CH! So now she won't see either concert unless CH reschedules when she can go! ️
