GAS (gasoline!)
-
Gas was $2.38 maybe. I'm staying in.
We are going to be the next epicenter in this Pandemic because we are not keeping 6 feet away from each other and there are no supplies being ordered that we will need, like ventilators and masks and tests! They had to erect gates at the beach to keep people off of them! Please isolate for the next month, so we can flatten the curve.

I think the ventilators are coming for those that need them. Why does everything seem to take so long.

Goodness! You remember the date of when you got your treadmill? haha. I have one too (in front of a tv) but I enjoy the fresh air & the people that you bump into at all the different parks that I go to.
I have a real good memory for dates. Birthdays especially. But also I could tell you what things I did in any given year from 1956 until this year.

$4.69
Yikes!

I see that they took the Twitter post off this site. Can't believe people were criticizing Trump and Republicans for this mess in Russia and the Ukraine. Realtiy check folks! Joe Biden has been in power over the last year. I'm an Independent and have nothing personal against Joe Biden but on key policies he has done everything wrong since taking office.

I took picture of gas pump when I was filling up on Election Day 2020 and I paid $1.86 a gallon. Last week, I paid $3.89 a gallon and today saw most stations in Charlotte NC are over $4.00 a gallon. See PM.

I don't want an argument, but what would you suggest President Biden do? Give in to Putin?

P.S. Our gas at Kroger is $4.00. My 91 year old mom isn't driving anymore, but I'm keeping her car because it is a 4-door Honda Fit. My car is a Honda CR-Z 2-door, 2-seater hybrid hatchback sports car. I get about 32 MPG. I alternate cars and maybe drive 12-15 miles per week total. haven't filled either tank since early February!

Perhaps you can find a good price compared to other places, but the goods and services go way up too - especially on the things that you use all the time. This affects a lot more than just at the pump.

Everything is going up. And certain states are higher than others with the gas prices. Cali is the worst.

My post was just stating facts. I do my best to stay out of politics on social media platforms. For the most part, I keep my political thoughts private and just share with my family and really close friends. I saw too much BS on FB during 2016 and 2020 elections where people stopped being friends with each other due to politics and thought that was quite sad. All of this being said, I will not share my brillant thoughts (ha ha) on Paul McCartney board what the POTUS should do regarding gas prices -lol.

I was mostly responding to B J. (the "he has done everything wrong since taking office" statement was what prompted my response)

This week I paid $0 for gasoline.
Last week I paid $0 for gasoline.
My "fuel" costs roughly half the price of gasoline.
My car will never need a tune-up.
My car will never need an oil change.
Ditch the 1905 technology and drive electric.

Not everybody is rich and can afford electric cars which for the most part are over $30,000. I had to replace my 1999 Toyota Corolla when I got rear ended and it cost more to fix than the value of the car. I wound up buying a 2012 Toyota Matrix for $9,500 (97,000 miles), doubt I could have got electric car for that amount of money.

I'm not rich and never have been. You can absolutely get a used EV for $12,000 or less. Search on Edmunds.com and see for yourself. If you want new, the Nissan Leaf sells for about $28,000 and still qualifies for the $7,500 federal tax credit, making the effective price just over $20,000. Per Consumer Reports the average price of a new car in 2021 was $47,000. And some states add their own EV rebates or incentives.

Ok, thanks for the information.

Thanks, Yankeefan. It's worth noting, sadly, that car prices in general are high right now because the chip shortage has crimped production, supplies are short and dealers are gouging. For some of the hot, new EV models, like the Kia EV6, dealers are charging $10K over sticker. There is no way in hell I would pay that, even if I could afford it. So as much as I think everyone should drive an EV -- seriously -- shop carefully and consider waiting till the supply shortage eases if the car you want, whether it's gas, electric or plug-in hybrid, is being sold at ripoff prices. Just say no to price gouging!

My wife has 2021 Honda Civic which should hopefully be the last car she ever needs, she is finally retiring after 40 years in nursing this May. Gar gets great gas mileage and on one recent trip to Florida got 40 miles a gallon on the highway. As I mentioned above, I got "new" used car that should last me forever also. I only drive 3-4K miles a year at most in my car, mostly to play tennis and run some errands. Basically, I fill up my gas tank about every 2 months.

Back in the mid 90's I decided to buy stock in Suncor & Exxon because oil companies are very powerful & you can't beat them. I thank all those Canadians who purchase their fuel at Petro Canada as well as a special thanks who drive gas guzzling vehicles.
