Like I said to Nancy in another post, these types of questions are about things from around 60 years ago. How old were the contestants? There are a lot more famous Beatle songs that the "everyday" type person might know some of the lyrics than "Strawberry Fields" IMO. Just because these questions are simple to us does not mean these contestants are not smart.
We have a TV quiz show in Australia called Hot Seat (Who Wants to be a Millionaire).... and every time a question comes on for a 25 year old, for example, that relates to the 1980's, they say, "Before my time"..... Times have changed. I am typical Gen X..... But, I grew up loving things that were well before I was born. The Twilight Zone, one of my favorite shows. Ended before I was born. Get Smart. 1965. Before I was born. I've got the whole collection. Cost me a grand. A Night At the Opera, Marx Brothers, one of the great movies. 1935.... We had a sense of appreciation for history. The people of today have lost their appreciation of history. Then again, we didn't have multiple streaming devices, the internet, those dreadful dating devices and SMS/email. All distractions from history.
Gen X are those born between 1965 and 1980. Which end of that spectrum are you? For some reason I thought you were older, maybe because you seemed “mature.”
Ha, I'm 1967... a good year.... I didn't think Gen X extended to 1980? Either way.... I'm getting older and cranky....

We have to understand the name of that haircut originated around 60 years ago. I did not see that show but willing to bet at least 1 or 2 of the contestants were not even born then. Even if they were, when was the last time you heard anybody use that term? Sure, this is easy for people like us, but it is because we are big time fans of the Beatles. Awhile back Jeopardy had a NY Yankee category, and they did not get one question correct. My goodness, these people never heard of Babe Ruth - lol.
Yeah, I know! It just really cracked me up because one of my good friends has moptops as part of her email address! Of course had to tell her!
Whatever happened to Moptops that used to post here? I enjoyed his discussions. Audi? He was another.
I think Moptops was banned and then I know Audi was so pissed about the situation he told them to ban him too! We’ve been in contact since then and Audi interviewed me about The Beatles for his radio show.
He has a radio show? I always liked Audi.... he was a good INXS fan, like me.... Moptops got banned? He spoke his mind, but I don't recall him saying anything that warranted being banned?
-
@yankeefan2 They were old enough to have been aware of the Beatles....and their music. And I did not say or suggest they were not smart. It's just that people, in general, now are simply not as tuned into the band as we would like them to be...or imagined they should be. It's just a reality.

My “moptops” friend was born in 1967 too! I’m a baby boomer, born in 1955.
Yes, Millennials are 1981 to 1996. -

Maybe I’m wrong - there were several banned at the same time.

@toris Just went to FB and found my PMs between me & “Moptops” and he said: I left after I kept getting howled down for "negative posts."
It was Lazy Dynamite who got banned and 5 years later tried to come back but they wouldn’t let him!! -
Would love to know what you need to say that gets you banned -lol.
-
Audi was one of my all-time favorite posters on this board. He loved Paul as an artist not just being "Beatle Paul". Hope he is doing well.

It was so long ago I can’t exactly remember, but I think there was some nasty arguing going on. I’m friends on FB with Lazy Dynamite so I’ll have to ask him!

It was Lazy Dynamite who got banned and 5 years later tried to come back but they wouldn’t let him!!I recall Moptops just talking his talk. There was stuff he loved, and there was some stuff he didn't like. Negative? Well, let's face it, we can't all just sit there and LOVE everything Paul does. I always found him refreshing. I liked the guy. Good bloke, in my opinion, was Moptops.
For example, I don't like Hosanna. Talked up as being brilliant at the time... I don't like it one bit. Crapola. Shite song. And don't get me started on Pretty Little Head.
And yet.... I like Mary Had A Little Lamb.... and Ebony and Ivory.
Negative views are allowed.
Audi also a top bloke.

I agree. Haven’t heard from Audi in a long time though. He deleted his profile on FB, but might have one for the radio show. Can’t remember what he called it!

I think I started on this board in 2005-2007?.... There has only been one guy who I genuinely disliked.... I won't mention his name.... but I want to.... and then there was another guy.... who signed everything off with his rendition of a Beatles' song... His avatar was a photo of himself. He looked like Mark Chapman.... not a good start... he was a weirdo... looked like a post office worker that was about to go psycho... I haven't heard from either for over 13 or so years.... Otherwise, a great set of people!.... on this board... And, yes, everyone is allowed their opinion... even if some of you don't realise how great the song "The Man" is from "Pipes of Peace".
I'd love to hear back from Moptops and Audi.
Even if they do say they love Deep, Deep Feeling and Deep Down.
I'd rather listen to Loup.... Or Heaven forbid, Hosanna.
Almost.... probably not.
Crapola songs, in my view.... am I negative?
But, I will take Tug of Peace.... every time.... I love it.... And I like Bogey Music.... and Darkroom.... and, yes, Temporary Secretary....
Everyone is allowed to be negative. Or positive.
I think I've officially gone off topic. xx

Nah! This is the “Post Anything You Want” thread!
I highly doubt Moptops or Audi would ever come back here. I think I still have Audi’s email address - will drop him a line. His radio show was actually a podcast on YouTube, but I couldn’t find it. -
The email addy I had for Audi does not exist anymore! ️
-
I hope he didn’t have to remove it because of the harassment there is these days. 🥺

No, I was in touch with him at that email until maybe a year or so ago. It was ages ago he left this forum.
