Your kidding! Did you hear about a rumored date?
-
gnome:
If Paul were to play Indianapolis, what is the likely venue. Could the locals weigh in?
Probably Lucas Oil Field

It's a tough one. There is the arena, Conseco Fieldhouse (or...Bankers Life Fieldhouse now). I saw Paul there in 2002. But....I just don't see Paul playing an arena in the summer. The next option is Lucas Oil Stadium. It's pretty new and HUGE. It's where the Colts play. We did some research and turns out the only concert there has been Kenny Chesney. I'm sure Paul could play there - but seriously..it's really, really, really big. Besides that there is an ampitheatre north of Indy called Klipsch Music Center. But, it's pretty small and has the pavillion/lawn set up. I really don't see Paul playing there.

A friend on fb, he's on here...he'll probably share soon enough Local classic rock radio said big announcement to come next Monday, hadn't been to the area in 20 years (which is true)...and then they played "Get Back".

I think Lucas Oil is the only real option. Though I'd love an arena show. Lucas Oil - 67,000 Dallas Cowboy new stadium 80,000 (Paul played there in 2009) Citi Field - over 100,000 (Paul played there 3 night in 2010)

Oldies dj Steve Conley of KQK 94.1 Memphis said there was a major concert announcement to be made Monday. Here is what he posted on fb "Like we say on the radio, Coming Monday a MAJOR CONCERT ANNOUNCEMENT. This act is one of the srongest to come along in years. Its been like 20 years!! Who do you think?? I'll play one of his songs at 08:10 on KQK" He then played Get Back at 08:10AM sharp and also said it has been 20 years since he last played Memphis. Woohoo!!

DAMN! I wonder what the Memphis date will be? I plan on being in Chicago for a few weeks making money for Bonnaroo, then heading to Nashville for a day or two to rest and make an easy drive to the festival, but this might mean I speed up my plans!

An arena show would be amazing! But, yeah...probably not happening. I don't think because Paul played somewhere 3 nights you can change the capacity from 45,000 to more than 100,000. Surely thousands of those people saw the show multiple times. But, regardless - good point about Cowboy Stadium. Dallas is a bigger market than Indy, but also a lot bigger than Lucas Oil. I just know from the outside it seems GIGANTIC. I've never been inside though... Hopefully I will be soon enough!

Wait, WixRocks, you were just assuming before the festival right?

I was looking at it before when all the rumored cities were announced. Though it is big as it's a football stadium, keep in mind this is Paul McCartney. He's a lot bigger act than that no-talent Kenny whatever his name is. Paul played Soldier Field in Chicago in 1989. The Rio Stadium with 186,000. Also take into account Paul's zig zagging and how he has so few shows in the area. People from all surrounding states will make the trip to see Paul. Like I said, it's Paul McCartney.

I'm not trying to debate here. I agreed it's likely where he's playing from the get go. Let's move on.

Folks, I know this is a Paul McCartney fan site, and I agree, we should discuss McCartney shows here. But can we refrain from insulting other acts? McCartney is a class act, and we all know he is at the top of the mountain. There is no need to say other artsts are "no talents" or "boring" or their songs all "sound the same." Other artists tour and sell out venues and make money. McCartney is who I come here to talk about, not read insults about other acts who some folks here may like or enjoy.

Sarah, it has to be Macca. He hasnt played here in 20 years. Steve was dropping hints right and left and jokingly said it would be the worst kept secret ever. Tune in live online Monday. Here is the url for KQK http://www.941kqk.com/pages/3143307.php

I'll try! But...I'll be in England visiting my husband's family - so may not be around. Just keep me posted on Facebook and the boards. Speaking of which....this is a VERY tense time to be going on vacation! I'm freaking out with these announcements and ticket sales!

Just before his last performance in Memphis, back in 1993
