I think it really sucks the way they announce the dates. I don't care about the rumors...the artist should announce & let us decide & make our plans for the summer...or fall...whatever.
I agree but it's a method of increasing ticket sales.
but he doesn't need this marketing strategy. he'll sell out regardless.
-
More pre-sale tickets for Boston were just released, according to the Facebook page.

Just saw that too. Doesn't look like anything too great. Seats that are farther back, side field, and in the stands. Nothing in the front three A sections..
-
Those seats are terrible.

I disagree. He doesn't always sellout. Does he draw a big crowd? Yes. DOes he always sellout? No. The Stones brilliantly marketed their upcoming US tour which will be announced in FULL tomorrow by setting up billboards in select cities announcing as Wednesday(tomorrow) is the day they have an announcement. With presales and onsales to start this weekend, many Stones/Macca fans will only be able to choose one act over the other, because of the $$$ involved. This is where MAcca is making a huge mistake in trickling in his tour dates. If he does a NYC gig at the garden it will sellout. I dont think he will sellout one single show if its in a stadium. Arenas, perhaps. I dont think Fenway willl sellout. Nor do I believe the hype of extar tix being released today blah blah. Thats just a ploy to hype the gig and move the garbage seats quicker. Miller PArk or Indy or New Mexico stadium.... no chance of selling out! In fact I would wait until the day of the show for those small market shows, becuase tix can be had below face value day of show. He's gonna have a heck of a time selling out large venues in most markets(assuming hes playing stadiums) when his tix will go onsale days and weeks after other high priced acts ie Stones go onsale. In fact, once the Stones release their dates tomorrow at 9am eastern, I will pick and choose the dates I want to see them, and if it coincides with a Macca date I could have gone to, then oh well. You snooze ya lose!! Sorry Paul.

Good post. I will be watching ticket sales with interest, especially the stadium shows.

Alright Stones fan, its obvious you like the Stones. Awesome. The last McCartney show I saw was St Louis and Paul sold the thing out in 30 minutes. Fact. He did 2 nights at Wrigley, I was at both. Both were sold out. Ever see Good Evening New York City? Thats Paul in front of over 100,000 people. He played there 3 nights. I'm going to Bonnaroo, Outside Lands, and every McCartney show inbetween. Will I see the Stones again? I've seen them twice and it was fun. Was front row at theB stage with a hot girl from choir class in college. I laughed when Rolling Stone magazine showed John Mayer and Katie Perry front row in Jersey. Big deal, I was doing that when I was a teenager. I've advanced to the greatest show on earth. Sir Paul McCartney. Get off of our cloud!

I'm a fan of the who but if they come to where I am and Paul does the same almost the same day I would manage to go with both of them and if they had their gigs in the same date I would prefer Paul because his show is something I can't miss. Now, can we stop talkin' about other bands? It's confusing.
-
I agree - I got confused too! When anyone hears more about Toronto (or close to Toronto) dates, please post!!!

Go ahead at least Paul still sounds like the original cuts , I saw the Stones on the Some girls tour and they were terrible, and I like their music. they were almost as bad as DYlan last summer, did not even recognize what song they were [playing.

Here's the thing: If you are a "stones/macca" fan, and I'm guessing by the guys order of those words and other things he's said, he likes the stones more. Great. Have fun. But if you like Paul McCartney more, and you only can afford one, guess what? You'll wait for those trickle down dates and go see Paul. It's called love. Have you ever been in it - stones fan?
-
PAUL- we need those dates...we've sunk to discussing the Rolling Stones for like the thirtieth time...S.O.S.!!!
-
Paul is not at all the only one who trickles out dates. Just this year I can tell you several who are, even at this moment, trickling out dates: Moody Blues - west coast tour this fall - in mid trickle now Teen Idols (Micky Dolenz, Peter Noone, David Cassidy) - I saw the one show.. waiting for more to trickle. Justin Hayward of the Moody Blues - in mid trickle now Peter Tork of the Monkees, - in mid trickle Chad & Jeremy - in mid trickle and these are just the ones I can remember right now. And yes, it does sell a few more tickets. I went to Halifax as that was the first one offered that year. He announced the Citi Field shows (in my backyard) a few days after I bought ticket to Halifax. Missed the David Letterman performance too.. Wah. But you know, reading through all the posts, we all sound like big complainers. Paul should this Paul should that, etc. But we know the upside too. He IS one of few singing in original keys out there. He IS Paul McCartney. The music is better! Let's look on the bright side.
