Kind Obama Words Toward Women September 9, 2008, 6:23 pm Obama Puts Different Twist on Lipstick Amy Chozick reports on the presidential race from Lebanon, Virginia. What?s the difference between a more hopeful kind of politics and old-fashioned attacks? Lipstick. Barack Obama says the John McCain-Sarah Palin policies don?t represent change, they?re ?just calling the same thing something different.? ?You can put lipstick on a pig, but it?s still a pig,? Obama said during a town-hall style event here Tuesday night. The comment played on Republican vice presidential candidate Palin?s joke during the Republican National Convention that the only difference between a pit bull and a hockey mom was lipstick. link for entire article: http://blogs.wsj.com/washwire/2008/09/09/obama-attacks-gop-tickets-mantra-of-change/

Chrysler sought a "bailout " years and years ago. I remember when NYC asked for federal help....the NY Daily News headline was "Ford to NYC: Drop Dead". My point is, Chrysler is still here as is NYC with and without "bailouts". The US economy isn't "collapsing". While it may be quite simple to blame Bush for everything, policies under both republicans and democrats are responsible. I understand what you mean about healthcare, except if I were you, I wouldn't hold my breath for the federal government to solve it, even if your buddy is elected.
Not so fast. Check your facts. Daimler took over Chrysler in 1998 and just recently sold it to Cerberus Capital Management LLC. in 2007 for 5 billion USD. In case you don't know, Daimler (or as we knew it, Daimler-Chrysler) is the Number 1 company in Germany. They produce Mercedes-Benz. BTW, the only reason it's an American owned compnmay now is because it was failing at Daimler, though it was still ranked number 3 as a US carmaker.

HOLY SOW! By GEOFF EARLE in Washington and CARL CAMPANILE in NY September 10, 2008 -- Barack Obama stuck his foot in his mouth yesterday when he said "you can put lipstick on a pig, but it's still a pig"- which the angry McCain campaign immediately denounced as an out-of-bounds attack on running mate Sarah Palin. Obama delivered the line while campaigning in Lebanon, Va., tearing into his rivals for not representing real change. "You know, you can put lipstick on a pig," Obama said, "but it's still a pig." He added, "You can wrap an old fish in a piece of paper called 'change.' It's still gonna stink after eight years." Many in the Obama crowd cheered and leaped to their feet in delight - apparently taking the "pig" comment as a direct slam at Palin. One of her most memorable lines during her vice-presidential acceptance speech at the GOP convention last week was the ad lib: "What's the difference between a hockey mom and a pit bull? Lipstick." The line drew roars from the party faithful. Former Massachusetts Gov. Jane Swift, speaking on behalf of Republican nominee John McCain's presidential campaign, quickly called on Obama to apologize. "It's disgraceful. Sen. Obama owes Gov. Palin an apology," Swift said. "This is just the latest in a series of comments that females like me will find offensive . . . There's only one woman in the race. It's hard to think this was directed at anybody other than Gov. Palin." link to entire article, video, & public comments: http://www.nypost.com/seven/09102008/news/nationalnews/holy_sow__bams_lipstick_bungle_128304.htm

Well after all that!! Won't it be great to have a candidate like Obama that separates church and state unlike McCain-Palin who think the Iraq war is doing gods work. : I glad my candidate separates Church and state, like our forefather wanted. The reason our country was founded, was to get away from England who wanted only one religion and so those who wanted to practice there own faith were welcome to the USA and allowed to believe in what they wanted without persecution The Rep are tying to once again get religion into politics because they don't respect our constitution and they don't truly believe in seperation of Church and state. Very scary to think that your church could decide how you live... I heard health care stop the war and help the middle class when Obama speaks. I hear god bless America, every time McCain-Palin speak I will no longer refer to McCain as McCain he is now hyphenated with the Rep true running mate. He can't win without her and he using her to get votes because he is unpopular with his own party.. Maybe because the conservative right don't belive in leaving you wife and kids for rich younger woman. He such a liberated man. No problem riding on a woman coat tail and letting her pay your bills. Yes he like woman like a gigolo like woman.

Please, she hasn't said anything that's not scripted for her. Is there so much in her closet, that the Republicans are afraid to let her open her mouth. That's the proper way to treat women, put men's words into her mouth. So much for women. :

The problem with this kind of smear tactic toward Obama is that ?lipstick on a pig? is a common expression, used by many people. For example, John McCain, October 2007, referring to Hillary Clinton?s health plan: "I think they put some lipstick on a pig, but it's still a pig," he said of her proposal. Dick Cheney, November 2004, referring to John Kerry's claims he would be a credible war president. "As we say in Wyoming, you can put lipstick on a pig, but it's still a pig," And Barack Obama in 2007, 'I think that both General Petraeus and Ambassador Crocker are capable people who have been given an impossible assignment,' Sen. Barack Obama said yesterday in a telephone interview. 'George Bush has given a mission to General Petraeus, and he has done his best to try to figure out how to put lipstick on a pig. http://features.csmonitor.com/politics/2008/09/09/obama-mccain-spar-over-pigs-and-lipstick/ Has Palin copyrighted the word ?lipstick?? Doesn?t she have better things to do, such as preparing for unscripted television appearances and interviews? Obama does not owe Palin any kind of apology. Unless McCain apologizes to Hillary Clinton first. But I think both sides have more important things to focus on.

How brave are you? The most bone chilling vid on you tube
Not for children please.. PeaceI watched it. Now I have several questions for you and any other U.S. citizen peace activists: How many people in the continental United States do you consider an acceptable number or reasonable number to be killed by foreign terrorists and/or illegial aliens living in the U.S.? Please give a number people (they should include members of your own family, relatives, and close friends) ... How many landmarks of peace are acceptable in your to loose within the continental United States (those landmarks should include your own home and/or business) to acts perpetrated by terrorists?
None of that is acceptable to me and I think any direct attack on our country should be dealt with. First I think an attack should be prevented. Bush and his cronies were warned about bin laden flying planes into the world trade center. If you don't know that by now , please do your own research. If an attack can not be prevented I think it is appropriate to go after the murderers...remember Bin Laden??? The Iraq War is being fought for oil. If you don't know by now...please do your own research. I'm really pissed at the ignorance of your side and what it has done to our country. You all have let yourself be manipulated by power and money hungry war-mongers.
I'm curious, Mustang....if the "war is being fought for oil", why is it then that the US was paying more for gas fairly recently? Do you drive? I'm not poking you in the eye here, just trying to understand the premise about the "war is being fought for oil" because it doesn't make sense for me. The WTC was attacked in 1993 during Clinton's administration. So it seems to me that both parties were warned about attacks. Both sides are part of the failure imo.

The fact that the "lipstick on a pig" remark has incensed the McCain campaign which put its own spin on it by saying that Obama was referring to the Alaskan Governor is ridiculous and pure hogwash. Read Obama's response in "Obama Accuses McCain Of 'Phony Outrage'" the following link: http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2008/09/10/politics/main4434087.shtml?source=RSSattr=HOME_4434087 McCain has used the phrase himself and so has Dick Chaney. Spin. Swift Boat tactics. Ridiculous. Such tactics insult the intelligence of "some"of the electorate. Obama has accused McCain of stealing his message of "Change" which McCain did in his nomination acceptence speech. I heard a phrase the other day by a political commentator and I wish I knew who said it: "Republicans know how to campaign. They just don't govern very well." McCain is going to make Bush's tax cuts that favor the wealthiest Americans permanent in 2009 and he also will continue this senseless war because of his war mentality of even if it takes decades we must be victorious. : Why perpetuate George W. Bush's mistake? Ridiculous! Withdrawing the troops in a sensable manner, which Obama advicates, makes more sense; saves lives and doesn't perpetuate the unnecessary mess Bush got us into. "The CBS Evening News" did a story on 3 Ohio families of differing income levels yesterday (Sept. 9, 200 and the couple that complained the loudest over Obama's tax program which balances the scales and doesn't favor the wealthy was the millionare couple. I hate when millionaires cry over the possibility of losing their tax loopholes and corporate executives get bonuses when they leave companies that are cutting jobs or failing while other Americans work 2 or 3 jobs and still can't make ends meet. Where's the fairness in that? McCain says "Our economy is in fine shape." : What America is he living in? Not one based on realism. McCain's choice of a running mate is mainly, in my opinion, a cheap attempt to get the votes of women for Hillary who are disgruntled over her not getting the nomination. Secondly, the same can apply to disgruntled male Hillary supporters. I think it's time to get over it people and vote with your common sense and not your emotions. Gov. Palin has said that this war "... is a message from God" and she said it in a place of worship. : If those of religious faith who put Bush over the top in 2004 buy into the same message from McBush, I mean McCain, it would be to the detriment to this country and an insult to "the rest" of the electorate who vote with their common sense and not their wallets. Just my opinion.

Let me ask this of Gov Palin: As the mother of a down syndrome child, how does she rationalize McCain not voting to expand SCHIP (children's health insurance) so that other down syndrome children in the nation whose parents aren't a governor or a potential VP, can get the health care that she and her husband provide for their son??

Pardon me, I disagree - following your line of thought, Phillip - we would have not gotten to know Barak Obama if he had not been running for President. He and his closest advisors have seen to it that we have only gotten a Saturday Evening Post, Norman Rockwell positive perfect picture of him. A very scripted story book version ... not too much dirt digging has been allowed, very unlike what they are trying to do with Sarah Palin
