I have to correct you on this point. Earnings are not the same thing as revenues. They are the same thing as net income. BP's earnings were not $240+ billion, they were $20.8 billion, if i'm reading the financial figures presented in oobu24's email correctly.
there going to file bankruptcy anyway..after they borrow 50 billion from a US bank..don't want to leave the country without a final... F%$# U.
Didn't know you are a BP insider....you don't know that as an "insider", that providing that type of information is illegal?? In any event, companies don't borrow that amount from just one bank as you indicate. That isn't how banking works.
I wonder if Vegas is placing bets yet on BP future..I'll place my bet on bankruptcy
-
Bankruptcy doesn't mean the company would simply "disappear".

There should be a separate 'good grief' thread
I nominate you to head that up, Rich!!

That appears to have been just one quarter.
Sorry, no.....those are annual (yearly) figures from oobu24. Glad to see EADG is on the case here.
Glad to be of some service.

I have been a Paul fan since the Beatles debuted in the USA back in 1964. I recently spent approximately $600.00 US for tickets for his upcoming concert in Pittsburgh, but that was just prior to Sir Paul's denigrating remarks regarding President Bush and his refusal to apologize. I wish he had taken a pointer from Elvis Presley when he was asked a political question: "I'm just an entertainer, ma'am". Sir Paul, I have seen you perform three times previously: once in Pittsburgh years ago; once in Cincinnati; and once in Columbus. You were appallingly out of line to criticize President Bush, who carried the weight of the world on his shoulders after 9/11. He did what he believed was right to avenge all the attacks on Americans dating back to the 1980's. There is no way for me to recoup the $600.00 I have spent on the upcoming concert Aug. 16, but it will be the last money I ever spend on Paul cd's, dvd's, or concerts. As an American, I am insulted. And what about the "great guy" President Obama returning the Churchill bust which was a gift from your government, to the UK? Were you not offended by that? Even I was offended.

I guess you missed the part where Elvis wanted to join the DEA as a honorary agent? That was under another real winner of a President - Nixon.

I honestly don't see how anyone from either of the supposed "sides" can defend The Usurper Bush (Bush the Second.) Personally, I refuse to acknowledge him as ever being the Legally Elected President. With the assistance of his brother and the Election Chairman of Florida, he stole the first election, and with the assistance of Diebold he stole the second. As for the September Attacks, I won't go as far as some do in claiming that The Usurper Bush and Company engineered the attacks. However, I am convinced They knew the attacks were coming, and opted to let them go forward for several reasons important to Them. First, to shore-up Bush's flagging approval rating, (prior to the September Attacks, his approval was in the crapper.) Second, as an excuse to start another un-win-able (but very lucrative for his old Texas buddies) War. And thirdly, as an excuse to gut The Constitution in several key areas. All part of the bigger plan.

BO is no different than Bush the Second, or Bush the First, or Clinton, or Reagan, or any other Politician. Even if it hadn't been Obama, it would have been McSame. That's because, in order to procure the exorbitant amount of money to conduct a successful campaign, ALL Politicians sell their allegiance to those who will become their Corporate Masters. There is no Left and Right in the US; there is no Democrat and Republican. There is only two sides of the same rotten coin. We no longer have a Representative Democracy in this Country; what We have now is an Oligarchical Kleptocracy - in other words, "Rule by a secret gang of thieves."

I look at the 2000 elections as a blessing in disguise...I don't know exactly what happened in FL and would never condone underhanded techniques to gaining an electoral win....but it kept Al Gore out of office or we'd all be living in grass huts, Gilligan's Island style

I don't think Paul's gonna miss you or your money.

I don't think it would be quite that bad, but I certainly don't think Al would have been any better than Bush. In fact, if there was some way to rewind time, and do it again - with Gore at the helm - I think we would all be astounded to find that everything would go virtually the same way! I posted a reference to this thread on a Political Board I belong to.
Altanon on the Gearfreq Forum:
For what it's worth, I don't think Al Gore would have been any better than Bush, (in some ways, he might have even been worse,) just like I don't think McCain would have been any better than BO. No worse, but no better. In fact, rather McSame! It makes no difference which "side" gets your vote, you elect the RaPE Party Candidate.
Sid Viscous on the Gearfreq Forum:
McCain wouldn't be sending us to hell at the rate PBO is if for no other reason that the Dem Congress wouldn't have let him.
Altanon on the Gearfreq Forum:
Possibly, but that would be assuming that the Democratic Congress hasn't also sold their souls to the same folks as the Republicans. But they have. There is only ONE set of Masters, and they own ALL the Politicians from BOTH sides! If there were some way to try it and see, I'd be willing to bet that things would have gone in virtually the same way if McCain had been elected. That's saying something for me, since I DO NOT GAMBLE!

:::yawn::: Another comment nobody gives a shit about. Don't buy his records, sell your tickets for the show and leave the forum. And kudos to Paul for not wanting to apologize!!! You rock dude!!!

I wouldn't go so far as to say leave the forum but I will ask, again, if you want to give up any of your memoribilia, can I have it? Another question to ask those of you who insist on bringing this old joke up, what the hell are you so afraid of? He made a comment. SO WHAT?!? No need to apologize and glad he didn't do it.

Blame game could 'boomerang' on Obama, strategist says By Kristi Keck, CNN July 2, 2010 3:01 p.m. EDT ((CNN) -- When signs of a severe economic downfall emerged more than two years ago, then-candidate Barack Obama was quick to point a finger at the man he hoped to replace. ... "Nothing makes a president look weaker than pointing the finger at past administrations," said Republican strategist Ron Bonjean. "By blaming somebody, it looks like you are playing politics and people just want jobs. They don't care about whose fault it is. Playing the blame game only boomerangs on yourself." complete article: http://www.cnn.com/2010/POLITICS/07/02/obama.economy/index.html

Another question to ask those of you who insist on bringing this old joke up, what the hell are you so afraid of? He made a comment. SO WHAT?!? No need to apologize and glad he didn't do it. ONCE AGAIN Beatlechick we are NOT repeat NOT (repeat one more time since you keep missing it NOT) afraid of anything. It's not difficult to comprehend Paul was at the Whitehouse being honored on behalf on ALL Americans (not democrats, not republicans, not any one single political group) be gracious, be respectful to EVERYONE. If you want to praise President Obama as the greatest President ever, the greatest human being ever......go right ahead. But why go negative? Why insult ANYONE???? There will be millions of opportunities to make all the Bush jokes/insults you want at another time and place. Paul was given this honor and given this stage because of his MUSIC he was not given the stage of the Presidents residence to insult a former President (and I would hope any future recipient of the award under a future President does NOT use the honor as a stage to insult President Obama) Its cheap and classless. And to top it off the joke isnt even funny because Paul failed to do his homework and learn that Bush's wife was a librarian. If I want to insult Paul's intelligence it would not make too much sense to say "Paul doesn't even know what a photographer is" (when Pauls wife was a photographer) Just as if Paul had showed up to receive this honor wearing sweat pants and a t-shirt, I would say it showed no class to disrespect the White House that way. That would NOT MEAN (by using the nitwit logic used by some on this board) that sweats and t-shirt can never be worn by anyone ever It would not mean people who are offended are "afraid" of sweat pants. It's about being respectful and gracious. But the shocking thing about this forum is the lack of respect or understanding for any dissenting opinion. Not one poster has even said to someone "I understand how you could feel that way....I disagree....but I respect your opinion" Instead its been insults and name calling and orders to go away. At least I can honestly say I would have been just as offended if Paul had made a joke at President Obama or Clintons expense but the truth is the hypocrites who are defending the insult cannot see anything past there hatred for Bush (which should not even be a part of the equation) in closing (in case Beatlechick forgets for the seventh time) WE ARE NOT AFRAID OF ANYTHING PAUL SAID We just think that when receiving an award on behalf of the American people don't insult ANY OF THEM.
-
Points against Paul's comment: It was a bit tacky of a comment for the situation Points in Paul's favor: He's entitled to his opinion He didn't threaten anyone's life His opinion on the matter is shared by many (although I'm not one of them) My conclusion: It was a bit clumsy and fell in the gray area of being out of line. But it wasn't so inflammatory to cause such a reaction...given he's not a politician and was just stating his opinion like many others. I'm not going to live my regular life tolerating 'normal everyday' people stating similar opinions then bash Paul and conclude that such comments from him should not be condoned. Everyone's entitled
-
Yeah... just heard from the right wingers in the fambly... they were informed by their guru Glen Beck, or someone of that ilk. I told them to think about the politicians who have made comments about the Clintons, or even their own comments on the Clintons... sheesh : So what it was in the White House...
-
For what it's worth - it was far more offensive and inflamatory to hear Biden call that ice cream shop owner a 'smart ass' because the guy made a comment about cutting taxes. If you're a politician and haven't heard someone heckle you about cutting taxes, you're in the wrong business
-
I totally agree with you. I often think Biden's elevator doesn't go all the way to the top.

As a person who wouldn't have said what Paul said, here is why he shouldn't apologize for his comment: 1. It was just a joke, tasteless, sure but Seinfeld was there too cracking jokes at peoples expense. 2. While some people who want him to apologize are regular folks wanting him to do "the right thing", some people just want to cause trouble and apologizing to them would just appease them. Besides, would apologizing make it any less of a right thing to of said? No. People who didn't like it will still critisize him for it anyways so what's the point of pouring gas onto fire when you could just let it fly by and let people move on to the next thing. 3. Apologizing won't make Bush an any better/worse President, Paul a better person or Obama a better leader. It would just stir up the hive. In other words, it's a waste of time. I know that sounds cynical and boring but it's true. Again, while some may want him to geniually apologize for an insult, there are far more who just want to cause trouble on the right by making this a bigger deal than it is. Case closed.

Well said! And for Tally, "On behalf of the American people?" He wasn't accepting anything in our behalf. When I ask what are you afraid of, I'm asking because so many people are taking an offense of a comment that was made so they must be afraid of something happening because of it. Did that comment change your life in any way shape or form? Did we go to, yet another, war because of his comment? Did the sky turn purple when he made that comment? Was the US or Great Britain attacked by some outside force because of his comment? No, nothing happened----nothing at all. So he made a comment, so what? I'm sure you never ever made such a type of comments in your life. I know I have. Sure I don't wield the same power as Paul does but just like I, he has the same rights to make any comment he damn well pleases whether or not we like it. If you don't like it voice your opinion and move on to the next subject. Life is to short to dwell on this. The only people make an ass of themselves right now is BP and the US Coast Guard. Now no one is allowed within 65' of the oil clean up yet the reporters at BP say that the cleanup is like a ballet in motion and one that should be seen as a thing of beauty. To bad, we're not allowed to see this.
