A perfectly normal day, this was. Let's see: - Portugal beats England in the penalties, which is becoming boring (thanks, Ricardo, you're great and will always have a special place in my heart ) - England supporters blaim the referee. - When a guy is kicked in his balls, it hurts! Then the guy who kicked him goes out. Everything is normal in football land. And now, France, what do you prefer: Croissant or Champagne? (singing) OOOOH, PORTUGAL, ALLLÉÉÉ PORTUGAL, ALLLLÉÉÉ, PORTUGAL, ALLLLÉÉÉ, PORTUGAL, ALLLLÉÉÉ......... And the two guys that decided it all:
-
Rooney is a poof there's plenty in Croxeth who would be embrassed by that when you kick someone in the bollocks they stay down.

Glad to see you enjoy normalcy. 1984: France 3-2 Portugal after extra time 2000: France 2-1 Portugal after extra-time Portugal and semifinals don't mix too well. Bet on the champagne.

More Barcelona talk since were in another World Cup lull. I've always been against the idea of Barcelona "soiling" their shirts with a sponsor's logo. (They're basically the only big club remaining that goes sponsorless) Well, apparently the team will have a logo on the front of their shirts for the 2006/2007 season. And given this particular logo, I have no problem with it at all. According to the Spanish daily SPORT... -- They are not obligated to wear the logo for every match although it will be worn throughout the season. It will likely be worn for special/friendly matches. For example, the August tour of the U.S. and the Spanish Supercopa for starters, -- Barcelona will have a ceremony to launch the logo on August 11/12, -- The club wants the fans to know that although they've had many offers for shirt sponsorships (up to ?20million), the club is receiving NO MONETARY COMPENSATION for putting this logo on their shirts. In fact, the club will be DONATING approx ?2million a year to this organization. - Club president Joan Laporte feels that this move truly embodies the club slogan "mes que un club" ("FC Barcelona - More Than A Club"). They want to be further involved with humanitarian causes and hope that this will set a trend among other big-name clubs in the football world where the priorities of making money and paying high salaries are becoming the norm. So, what is this logo then? http://www.sport.es/vivo/recursos/fotos/foto_165273_CAS.jpg A great move by the defending European Champions. I'd love to see them wear this for EVERY match this coming season.

That's really a cool thing to do for Barcelona! Meanwhile, I'm still a little shocked by yesterday's results. I never would have thought that Brazil would lose against France. As for England, well, it's the same old story. I'll never understand why they're so bad at shoot-outs. I'll miss Beckham.

England did great against Portugal... but they had no luck at all... with 10 players they played much better than Portugal... It seems skolari teachs his team how to act very well,he did that with Holland too. while I'm sure Portugal is a good team but they shouldn't win this way... thanx to the ref. and the goalkeeper of Portugal,he made them win. I think Argentina was also great ,and could have made it well ,it's team is much more better than Germany..but the coach made terrible mistakes... Argentina would have won the cup if they let Missi play..

peter:
They let France play, they gave them space, the space made Zidane look better than he has for three years. You stop the other team playing and impose yourself on the game.
I think Zidane proved again that he is the one who can make a team win no matter which time of game(remember Euro 2004 when he scored on England at the dead time). he is the best this world Cup while he is 35 years . A real hero so sorry for Ronaldo...he didnt deserve to go away,

I haven't been around for a few days, although I still watched all of the games. Needless to say I'm happy two of my favourites are still in - Germany v Italy is going to be one hell of a game. Sadly one of them will have to go out. Now, Brazil - I'm disappointed they didn't play better. France played more actively and had more chances.

Brésil, oh Brésil Did you see Brazil yesterday? I didnt. I cant call that 5th division team Brazil. The Penta champion team is not that small thing that "played" yesterday, I mean, that didnt play. France is Zidane. Zidane isnt French. What a great match, what a great end for him. I dont think France will be champion, because they have no team, and Zidane cant make miracle. But I clap my hands for Zidane. He respected the shirt of France something that Cafu, Roberto Carlos and other STARS of that shit dont know. That´s why I like Scolari. He is all about blood, sweat, passion. I wouldn´t say I am disapointed. Not really. I couldnt expect anything better. I wanted the young team that played against Japan, with that not responsible football, with joy. That team is Brazil. Brazil lost because of its ARROGANT coach, and because of those vain players. And another thing. Thierry Henry is ridiculous. He said Brazilian players are good because people in Brazil dont go to school, just play football. I think Thierry who is from some lost Caribean island dont know what is a school. Ignorant... Avante Scuderia Azurra!!!

I dont think we watched the same match. I didnt see England doing anything. Portugal was the one that lost opportunities to finish the game earlier. Portugal is not a good team, the coach is great, that´s all. The goalkeeper of Portugal is very good, but penalty is penalty. I still cant believe Argentina lost to Germany. Germany is a horrible team, they play anything else, not football . I dont think Argentina lost because Messi didnt play. They lost because Germany had more personality. Why didnt you say the German goalkeeper won the game, not the players? Germany, France, England and Roberto Carlos, Cafu, Emerson, Adriano cant impress me.

England was better much better, just because the Portogal coach is brazilian doesn't mean you have to support him he pushed england and holland players with tricks to make them lose temper and make injuries....so sorry he succeded, but yes the penalties part was made by Portogal goalie.

I agree with you on that, the german goal keeper made it for germany in penalties, but Argentina could have won in the real time match if the coach didnt make the stupid changes and make the team withdraw back the last 20 minutes ,while Argentina was controling the game after they scored first.

It´s been 40 years since Portugal did something in the world cup. Who is responsible for Portugal team? The coach. The coach is good, he is the man, and I wanted him in my team. Argentina lost not because of the coach, because of the players. If they werent efficient, what can we do. They were better than Germany, but Germany was cold blooded.

You english are just pathetic!!! Rooney was a cunt by stamping on Carvalhos nuts, and now it's Ronaldo's fault!!! Jesus!!! Just like to remind you what happened in the last years: Euro 2000, Euro 2004 and WC 2006 Portugal > England Porto > Man United Sporting > Boro and Newcastle Benfica > Man United and Liverpool And who's the Manager that got the last 2 premier leagues: José Mourinho! I don't remember any English team or the National team get past through us!!! And all you have to say is always the same excuse...the diving!!! Get real!!! PORTUGAL!!!

Cristiano Ronaldo, in action!!

While I agree 100% on that - and it wasn't just like that in that last game, it was all along the tournament...

...and might have agreed to that half a year ago, this is no longer true now! It seems to me that Germany have found their good shape just in time! Now they'll have to show that the 1-4 defeat against Italy earlier this year was just an accident...
