Tetra is how we say in Brazilian Portuguese Bi 2 Tri 3 Tetra 4 Penta 5 Hexa 6 Septa 7 Octo 8 etc 4 in Portuguese is quatro, but for championships is tetra
Yeah, the rest sounds similar to English. But I'm used to the word quad to describe anything of four.
Well, just like a pentagon is a thing with five edges, and a hexagon with six, you have a tetragon with four edges ("-gon" being Greek for "edge"). These are the Greek numerals, while quadra-, quadro- etc. is Latin. The only odd thing about Michelle's list is the number 2, because "bi" is again Latin and not Greek - that's "di", as in "digraph", "dipole" etc. Following the Greek pattern, 7 should also be "hepta" and not "septa".
Never heard the word tetragon before. At least, I don't remember it. In school I was taught "quadra". Also familiar with "bi", not "di". "Hepta" sounds familiar. Btw, math was my favorite subject in school. Still enjoy working with numbers, which partly explains why I wanted to do this predictions thingy.

But to get back on topic... it will take a looooong time till we see a "heptacampeão" in football!

Germany-Portugal-2:1.(Thank^s for your team, herr Klinsmann). Italy-France-3:2. France deserves this victory. Italy:1-0 with Australia (there wasn^t penaltie. You may kill me,but Louis Medina Kantaleho helps Marchello Lippy^s team to go the next round). 3-0 with Ukraine (I think, there shouldn^t be any doubting). The first equal team for them was Germany. France:Spain (3-1) and Brazil (1-0). What can I say more?Nothing...
-
Oh,sorry!2:3 for the final match! ops: ops: ops: FRANCE!!!

Something I found about Portuguese language, now we know why bi and tetra... "Portuguese belongs to the Indo-European family, Romance group, and is spoken by over 10 million people in Portugal, and over 190 million in all countries where Portuguese is the official language. As a language, it developed in northern Portugal (Lusitania) from the Latin language and "Galego", the language spoken in Galicia. Like Spanish, which it closely parallels in its grammar, it contains a large number of words of Arabic origin, as well as French and Greek origin. The language entered its modern phase in the 16th century, when the first grammar defined Portuguese morphology and syntax. When Luis de Camoes wrote "Os Lusiadas", in 1572, the language was already close to its current structure of phrases and morphology. From then on linguistic changes have been minor. Portuguese ranks 8th among the most spoken languages in the world. Of course, in the vast non-contiguous areas of the world where Portuguese is spoken there are differences and variations in terms of pronunciation, grammar and vocabulary. However these differences are not such as to challenge the basic structure of the language, which continues to maintain considerable cohesion among its many variations." yeah it is Hepta not Septa

the ref tomorrow is supposed to be in the top ten of the world not this year but in the last five, hopefully he will live up to it. but s**t he's an Argentinian
Don't worry... We don't do things like that... Elizondo is a good man...
Take a wild guess who has been appointed to referee the Final? A great choice, because I think Elizondo has been amongst the best this tournament (the English may disagree). I think this is the first time in history that the same man has been the "man in the middle" for both the Opening Match AND the Final! WHAT AN HONOR!!
-
peter:
well we saw a finalist at least in that complete and utter travestry of a football match. YES the REF.
this is what i said.

Germany 4 Portugal 0????????? That´s not possible!!!

Germany - Portugal 2:1 It's incredibly hard to predict the outcome of the final but I'll try: Italy - France 0:0, Italy wins on penalties

France-Italy : 1 - 0
