From what I heard in a news discussion with this young man's aunt on tv last night...it's beginning to sound like he was strongly influenced by his own mother's gun cult survivalist paranoia...it is very sad indeed

Ihope and pray there are no copy cats on this one love doris

Funerals began today.... So hard to turn on TV...

As promised, I wore my green (and white) today. Not sure I can handle tv either, I feel like my eyes have been swolled up for days.

making things illegal gets rid of them. Just ask Paul about drugs. This is a mental health issue more then a gun control issue.

Americans are as thick as shit if they would rather have "The Right To Bear Arms" instead of cutting down on these shootings. We have people in UK with mental health issues but if you give someone with Mental Heath issues access to guns things like this are going to happen. If people couldn't get guns easily it would cut down on these crimes. I was in the Police in UK and we didnt carry guns, but we still protected people and Americans always say they need guns for protection, but only because everyone has guns! We dont carry anything for protection in UK and i have never been in danger in my personal life. I am so glad i dont live in USA, it is a mad country!

It is a mental health issue. period.

You should see the south side of Chicago & I'm sure you have this too in Detroit KO. It is more gangs & little chicken sh!t punks that are doing drive by shooting & hitting innocent people & kids. The guns are not legal & there is not a mental health issue...it's just the fact that those punks will always find guns & will always shoot innocent people. PARENTS need to step up & start to have a concern about these kids.

Yep. I've seen it and lived through it. Those were illegal guns so making all guns illegal isn't the answer to the solution at all. It won't take weapons from the hands of these criminals. Strangely enough, witchcraft does deter them but NO ONE but the witches want to discuss that. Also a bit of American History for all of you: After the Columbine shooting, the US school system had hundreds of what was called zero-tolerance rules enacted in the schools to keep out guns and weapons. Sounds good, right? WRong. Thousands of kids were victimized by school administrations from cutting cakes in the cafeteria for a birthday party to possessing nail files in makeup kits or crochet tools for personal hobbies. Each of these children were denied an education and made into criminals for simple acts. I can't imagine that on a national level. Yes, there were parents who fought back with groups such as, "Enough is Enough" but this is what we don't want to see happen.

More funerals today....my heart just breaks for these poor families. I just can't even imagine what they are going through

I can't either and I can't watch newscast without tearing up.

Here's the Examiner column about Julian's stance on gun control. Interesting how he isn't afraid to use the word 'crazy' in describing the shooter. He didn't mean to but using that term addresses it as the mental health issue it is

When The Constitution was written...Men had one shot flintlock rifles that took a minute to reload...and now...we have weapons that can kill 100 people in less than one minute...and are available to teenagers

Exactly and they did not envision what is available now. It's both a mental health issue and a gun issue. Nobody needs assault rifles. Nobody.

I just hope that we get to a point where the individual with that disorder is held responsible and the traits and stereotypes arent carried over to all with mental health issues. The vast majority are safe, honest just a little different love doris

My heart is breaking... the teacher who put all of her kids in the closets and then told the gunman that they were in the gym already... she got shot in the face... They need to put in classroom doors, like the kind the pilots have in planes, ones that can auto lock and they also need camera systems, so the teachers can see where the gun person is... in relation to where they are... this is so tragic!!

I hope and pray that there is a halt to the violence . Now there have been copycats beggining to try stuff like what has happened in these places locally. I think there are too many guns on the loose out there. Those funerals are having a sobering effect on society love doris

Places like Chicago & the State of Connecticut already have strict gun control laws! Is that working for them? It seems that these laws grossly overlooked something. Taking guns away isn't going to change the immorality of a corrupted criminal or would-be criminal's mind. There needs to be VIRTUAL gun control! Let's take the guns out of the hands of movie producers, video game producers, and any other forms of violent influence peddling. Truth is they took smoking away from the movies, video games and commercials. Isn't it time to take the virtual guns away? And let the law abiding citizens have their right to bear arms for self defense/protection. The actual firearm is just a physical manifestation, it is not at the root of the problem. It's like George Harrison said, "it's all in the mind." To reduce crime we need to start there. If we don't, then the criminals will find any other way they can to get guns. Whether thru a drug trade or the old fashion way.... stealing them! Also, we really need to get God back into the equation. People doing the right thing, following the 10 commandments. Which, btw, has little to do with religion and a lot to do with law.

The TV shows, movies & video games need to change. Great example about the smoking. There are some TV shows that I can't watch anymore. They have gotten sooo gruesom. And if someone watches some of this crap & they have the smallest inkling of going over the edge...this may push them. This needs to stop.
