We've got a hotel in Gastonia and will probably be eating there before we come in for the show, if not we'll probably just hit up Bellacinos. LOL
I live in Gastonia, LOL! Bellacinos is great. Can't wait for this show! I currently have a seat in 102, but I am hoping to upgrade myself before the show and get closer if I can!! I am SO excited, never saw Paul in Charlotte, only in Atlanta each time!
I've never seen him in Charlotte either, so this will be a first for me.

You need to eat at MERTZ! Its right by the arena on College St. Soooooo good!
-
Last night on Ticketmaster I was pulling tickets on the floor sections in rows L-N. Wonder if those of us who got stuck behind those rows with Crowdsurge will get upgraded then..

Just made travel arrangements can't wait!!!!! Where are good places to eat in Charlotte?
If you want to "stray" and eat someplace away from the arena, let me know and I will recommend some places in town.
I'd love some recommendations! I'm coming from Raleigh.
Not sure how much time before show you will be in Charlotte or the amount of money you want to spend but will give you a few options. BTW - smoking is no longer allowed in Charlotte restaurants. I. I assume you will be coming in on I-85. If so, you could get off at the "Concord Mills" exit and there are plenty of restaurants in that area . There are several chains like "Friday's", "Red Lobster", "Sticky Fingers" (ribs) and "On The Border" (Mexican). Personally, I like "On the Border", decent Mexican food and reasonable. 2. If you go past "Concrord Mills' for a exit on I-85, you can get off and head to the "University" area in Charlotte. Before you get to Harris Blvd, there are a couple of places I would recommend" If you want a deli, there is a "MacAlister's Deli" which is very good and in a small shopping mall on the right hand side of the road. Another place is a nice family Italian restaurant called "Ciro's" which my family has gone to for about 10-15yrs. Ciro's is owned by a man named Pablo who is originally from NY and he plays the accordian most nights during the dinner hour. Meals run from $12-20 and my favorites are the veal marsala and shrimp fra diablo. The only disappointment is due to the economy, salad is now a la carte. They also have NY style pizza which is very good. In the same shopping area as "Ciro's", there is a big place called "Boardwalk Billy's" which serves sandwichwiches, burgers, and regular meals. It is right across a man made lake. My favorite is the crab cake dinner with corn on the cob and rice. They also put peanuts on every table so break the shell and enjoy, they don't care if you push the shell on the floor. If you get to Harris Blvd, I would recomment "Melting Pot" which is a fondue place. it can be expensive if you do everything (over $100 for 2 people) with speciality drinks but there are plenty of options so you can cut down on the price. 3. There is a area of Charlotte called Southpark due to the upscale mall called Southpark. Inside the mall, there is a "Cheesecake Factory' restaurant which is very nice and has a huge and diverse menu (food and speciality drinks). You also can order cheesecake to go !!! If you have time, this is a very nice place to shop with some upscale stores . 4. Another place fairly close to the area would be "Cajun Queen" which is on 7th St. obviously, it is a cajun style restaurant that is good and they have a live jazz band some nights. If you want to wander a bit further from the area, you could hear to the "Cotswold" area. there is a place off Providence Road called "Red Rock Cafe" (Strawberry Hill Shopping Center) which is very nice. (American cuisine) A little hard to find for a visitor but I could help you. I have to admit, I have not been there in a year so I hope it has not changed. 5. Finally, with traveling and the cost of McCartney tickets you probably don't want to go to a really expensive place. If you did, i would highly recommend the "McNinch House'. It is a 7 course dinner and a great special occasion place. If you are considering a place like this , let me know and I will provide more details. reservation is definitely needed. I hope this helps. If you need directions, let me know or use mapquest. All places have a website so you can check them out and get their address.

Thanks for all the suggestions, Yankeefan7! BTW, my husband is a big NY Yankee fan too! There is no smoking allowed in any restaurant in the state of NC now (yeah!!!). We probably will want to try and find a fairly nice place to eat, preferably not a 'chain' (we have too many of those already in Raleigh area) but not a 7 course meal, either!!

I understand what you mean about chains. Unfortunately in this economy, privately owned restarants are having a hard time surviving. I listed earlier places close to the arena that i think are nice and within walking distance. Soho Bistro (Chinese) and Rockbottom Brewery would be my suggestions. I have been a big Yankeefan since I was 8, very long time ago. Your husband will understand the significance of the #7 in my name.

1 month away everyone!
-
I was just getting on here to post that but you beat me to it. Note that he played Ram On live at both concerts this weekend.
-
I assume there will be no opening act on this tour. Would have been nice if they put on the ticket the scheduled time of the concert starting instead of the gates opening.
-
I am SO ready! Is anyone going early, to try and see him when he arrives for soundcheck? Do you know about what time he may arrive at the arena?

I am! Hoping to park across from the artist entrance..I'm not sure what time he'll arrive since he's been having them earlier, but with past experience it's around 4:00pm.
-
I am going to try and get there early as well to try and see him come in. Have you all decided if we are going to meet up before the show? I've been offline for the past week, so a lot of catching up to do!

i still can't belive he's coming to charlotte course he's been there...once before? or twice? once with 'wings' i think?? charlotte must be a bigger deal than i imagined. it wants to be another hotlanta. it must be a much larger city than i thought. more well known or something for paul and band to play there. being in the same general vicinity as nashville might be a factor in their deciding to perform in charlotte. (by the way, nashville sure needs that ol' macca magic, another kind of music than absolute torch n' twang fare which can get too corn ball). nashville also needs him badly 'cause of the recent devastating floods. if i dont get to go to this...it's gonna hurt real bad and be upsetting. i dont have to see him live to love him, but man... 'so near and yet so far' if i can't go...i need to move heaven & earth to go to charlotte

McCartney came to Charlotte last in 1993 at the outdoor venue. It was the concert that was televised by Fox. Charlotte is smaller than Atlanta and is one of the larger banking centers in the USA. Charlotte has grown up quite a bit since I moved here in 1990.
-
I have lived in the Charlotte area since I was born way back in the 1050s and 1993 was his first and only time in the Queen City. Due to TV, the concert had a shorter set list and lasted two hours (actually it ran over but Fox cut away from the last part of Hey Jude) so we were sort of short-changed on the set list. I was on the 15th row and it was burning HOT, won't have that problem this time around, provided the A/C at Time-Warner doesn't break.
-
Yeah, I remember this all too well and how I was unable to attend because my 1st child, was born on 6/13 and I had just gotten out of the hospital, had a house full of relatives visiting our new baby girl, and I was trying to watch Paul on TV, live from Charlotte, which was 35 min. from my house! I remember I taped it so I could watch it later, after everyone left !

Psyched about the Charlotte show (If you live in Charlotte does that make you Charlatans?).. The last show at the Amphitheater (with the great Robbie and Stuart and Gertrude) was so killer, its one of my favorites.. Taking the family again like we did in Atlanta last August (second concert for 6 year old and 11 year old). We all received the "look you dead in the eye and gives thumbs up from Paul" on his way into the soundcheck at Piedmont Park in Atlanta... I'm a bit bummed that $97 and $57 tix are now available from Ticketmaster in the same section as my $127 tix from Crowdsurge? Bought them early because I could not be online when they went onsale via Ticketmaster....15 seat difference for $75 bucks per ticket is a bunch of money for me.. But I'm ready for my 5th show from Paulie.......1.5 hours away from my very own house....

The 1993 concert was the one with the infamous "Robbie's Bit" which made it on the "Paul is Live" CD.

I went to the concert and taped it, lord knows where I put that tape. Actually, I was not going to go since I saw him last summer at Citifield but my daughters (age 21 & 19) really wanted to see McCartney.
