Anyone with a VIP package heard what time sound check will begin?
I have a VIP package but no info yet. I think I read on another thread that they send the info out a week or so ahead. I'm not worried - I'll be there in PLENTY of time, dragging my husband with me. He isn't a huge Paul fan, but he'll have a great time since we'll be so close (3rd row center) and he'll also get to see me make a fool of myself. Not that he hasn't seen that before! :
-
What I would like are some "shockers," songs of his that are so overlooked that no would consider that he would play them. My picks... Come and Get It--He wrote it for Badfinger, you can hear it on Anthology III. It would be a nice reminder to people of the many songs he has given away. Rockestra Theme--Put this in the encore for us hardcore fans. My Brave Face and Off the Ground--Representative songs from the World and New World Tours. Big Barn Red--early rocking Wings!
-
Anyone know for sure what song Paul sings before he talks about the different signs being held up?

Don't worry, I'll be screaming the loudest during non-Beatle tunes and if I hear "McCartney should just play all Beatles.." again then I'm going to punch someone in the face straight up.
I saw him last summer at Citifield and yelled really loud during "Only Mama Knows, "Sing The Changes" and "Mrs. Vanderbilt".
We got this.
Mee too!! I am in the front of sec 116!! I will handle the peeps!!!

So excited for this show. Still can't believe Paul is coming to this arena.

Hello All Just wanted to add I can't wait for show in Charlotte! I have been a big Beatles and Paul admirer for most of my life and it will be a real thrill to actually see him. To the fella who said Charlotte has lame crowds- I somewhat agree with that, but I doubt having a Beatle in town playing a concert will produce a sleepy audience. There are exceptions.
-
The Carolina Panthers fans are often criticized for being lame, more interested in chatting amongst themselves than watching the game. This may be where this lame tag is coming from. I have been to a few of their games over the years and these people are reading them wrong--give them something to cheer (as i n winning) and they perk right up. This was true a few years back at the last game I went to in the freezing cold. With Paul, all attendees are winners so everybody will have much to cheer about it. This crowd will be up, believe me.
-
There's always some people who just aren't into the show period. I honestly hope true hardcore fans are upfront, so Paul can see people excited when he plays those Wings tunes.

I have heard during Radiohead show in Charlotte back in 2008 that a lot of fans were upset at the amount of chatting. This was confirmed by the numerous bootleg recordings of that show. More chatting than usual lol. My theory is Charlotte is a banking town, and although I love it here, I find that people who just focus on finance/ economics tend to be a little lax in the appreciation of something like music, no? Unless it's referring to making money. I know this is stereotypical, but Charlotte just needs to develope a second act culturally. A thriving music scene would help. I hear bands complain that all the club crowds want is bar bands playing radio hits. Sounds like a bunch of drunk bankers to me. They never were too hip about music...too busy studying economics lol. Because of the economy Charlotte has come to a crossroads...go by way of Detroit or have a rebirth and redefine itself. I have faith. I work at an arthouse theatre here and I meet lots of independent filmakers who are investing in this area. I like that. Better days ahead. Step aside banker Bob btw, if Paul sings.... well..... damn near anything, I am going to weep lol
-
Just wondering... has anyone received their tickets in the mail yet?? I havent and I'm getting nervous!!!
-
That is very stereotypical. Have you not ever been in the NoDa District in Charlotte?? The arts area? Ever been to the Evening Muse? People there love music like no other. Theres an awesome local or traveling band playing every night. Sure...at clubs, where people go just to drink and go home with someone new every night...people arent into original music. You need to check out the actually music venues. Not clubs. You'll find the Charlotte music scene isnt that bad at all. The Nashville tickets will probably be sent out the 12th, so I'm guessing the Charlotte tickets will be the 14th, following CrowdSurge's policy of no sooner than 14 days.

If he ever did "On The Wings of a Nightengale which he wrote and gave to the Everly Brothers I would be in all my glory.

well what do I know, I've only lived in Charlotte for twenty years. Of course I've heard of NoDa. Not exactly Greenwich Village but it's all we've got lol. I don't recall saying Charlotte is without music venues. I don't recaLl saying nobody likes music here. I do recall hearing people complain and I do recall reading about the problems promoters have attracting indie bands to our music venues. Notice how many artists skip Charlotte altogether for Raleigh? Raleigh? I'm rooting for Charlotte but come on, we can do better here. Ask a promoter of one of these venues what he or she thinks. We can do better.
-
Well...other folks can be sleepy and chatty all they want...I will be up dancing and singing the whole time! Both Beatles and non-Beatles songs! Radiance..I believe you are sitting beside me...so hopefully you won't mind! I can't WAIT!!!!

I have lived here fot twenty years also and agree with you. Look how many times McCartney has toured US since 1993 and bypassed Charlotte. The problem Charlotte has attacting music shows is because they don't sell out most concerts even with majort acts. The only guaranteed sell out at a concert is a "Hot" Country music act or Jmmy Buffet. I have seen The Police, Billy Joel/Elton John and Fleetwood Mac shows in Time Warner Arena and all had a decent amount of empty seats. (BTW - McCartney will not sell out either) On the other hand, Charlotte does pretty well with it"sBbroadway Lights Series which is a nice thing to somebody like me who loves Broadway.
-
Yeah, Paul did not sell out. You can still pull up very good single tickets on Ticketmaster as we speak. I just hope I am not told to sit down during this show.
-
I saw the opening night of the Van Halen tour here in 2008 and I must say the crowd was quite into it. But I did see the Police in Atlanta at Phillips and I was surprised that so many folks sat down most of the show.... Macca is so different. I've seen four shows, never ever been to one where people sat down...yes, here and there, (you know, newer stuff, Blackbird maybe, band intros what have you). I will be rocking out with my wife who is 5'10 and my two kids age 6 and 11. I'm 6'2, 240 so if you're sitting behind us you better plan on standing up...We'll keep it together though...but we will dance when we must (and some serious air guitaring as well)...not too big on the singing at the top of our lungs except in the choruses (Daytripper, yeah now, etc)...and the few choice whoops and extras Paul has thrown in on the past few tours that my son and I will know...

Every Macca show I've been to (excluding Piedmont Park) people have sat down. And these were in the first 5 rows. I hate being upfront and everyone just looking at you like you're stupid and poor Paul up there seeing all these people just sitting.
-
Yeah...when I saw him in DC last summer...everyone in the seats were sitting that I could see. I had field seats (back of the field, but the field! ) and we stood the WHOLE time. I was exhaused after that show!!! LOVED IT!
