Actually, the platform seemed to add an extra 20+ feet, imo. (however i didn't bring my tape measure!) I was 2nd row floor for Orlando night #2..... But I can't complain too much since i didn't pay any crazy VIP package price (regular $250+$25 in fees). I got lucky with the Crowdsurge presale. Just caught it at the right time.)
wow! you lucked out.. good job...20 ft is pretty far 2nd row- wonder how ppl will feel if they donot know about the distance until afterwards.. I'm sure everyone will love the show

my best estimate is around 15 to 20 feet back further with the platform

Would just like to apologize to all about my obnoxious and rude comments regarding the platform. Hopefully we can all put this behind us and some of you are classy enough to accept this.

I thought it was rather amusing that the only added fee to the $1500 Hot Sound Package was a $5.55 fee!

....... I wasn't happy about the platform either. Turns out....it wasn't so bad. Sure, I would love to be closer, but I got everything out of the experience that I wanted...and more!!!!!!! Even with a tall guy directly in front of me.....it was heaven being right in front of Paul!!!!!!! Of course, now I understand the addiction and I want it again. If I had the money, I would definitely do it again!!!!!!
Glad you enjoyed it george_e_girl! I'm doing my second ever soundcheck in Indianapolis in July! I NEVER thought I'd do it twice because of the cost. But...my unreasonable side got the best of me - and I'm so thrilled it did!
That's great!!!! I hope I can do it a second time too!! I went into it thinking it was a one time deal, but how can you not want that experience again!! The sound check was just amazing!!!!!! A private concert of mostly songs that were not being played at the big show....what a treat!!!! Two Paul concerts in one night!!!! My friend Linda and I are hoping to be able to get tickets for Indianapolis, even if we have to go through a broker. Hope we are able to get something in a few weeks, after I have time to save some money. I'll have to settle for something farther away and less expensive this time. Enjoy the show!!!!!! I know you will!!
what seats did you have? & thank you~
I was in F2, row 3, seat 9 - directly in front of Paul......even with the gap, it was the best seat I've ever had!!!! Would have been way better without the tall guy in front of me, but that's how it goes. I know that's something you can never control. Regarding the platform, I heard that Paul loves it, so it's not going away. It may be more for him than it is for the audience. Probably gives him a great view of the crowd!

The point I was trying to make -- but I think I was unsucessful -- is that the gap from stage to row 1 has always been (in recent years) let's say about 15 ft. With the new design (based on pix I saw), it may have extended that an additional 5 ft or so. So yeah, the one who said stage is about 20 ft from row 1 is probably about right. But it has always been about 15 ft from row 1 so the real difference is only about 5 ft. No tape measures were used, just generalities. I'm just happy I'll be seeing him live in about a week. I'll let you know if I notice any real difference from row 10

Believe me, you will. But ultimately I suppose it didn't really matter to me since I was in the 4th row. I just wish he had utilized the added stage more and walked out on it (without it being raised) more than just the 2 songs!

http://seatics.tickettransaction.com/SafecoField_PaulMcCartney_2013-07-19_2013-04-10_0925_tn.gif Seating chart for those of you who asked. I had not checked my emails for a few days and when I opened it it said pm ticket on sale . It was in two minutes of opening up the email. So I felt fate had a hand in me buying these. First try was not so good seats, second were floor but a way back and I didn't type fast enough and third was a charm.. i perfer a little higher row 2 section 144 15-16 so it looks like lower balcony looking at the center stage. Price was right about time. 116 each. So be watching for me Paul. Whee hoo

I don't know if you could appreciate it from the floor/lower seats, but from up high, it was a pretty cool effect of water seeming to flood onto the stage from the waterfall backdrop!

Sorry, Sarah; I don't have any. A video would be great, so you could see the movement of the flooding water. If we're lucky, maybe someone has one!

How about this one?
The water begins at 55 seconds.
