"Just heard from a source that Paul has been rehearsing a Venus & Mars/Rock Show/Jet opener... just like WOA. Other rehearsals include Listen To What The Man Said, Letting Go, WITH A LITTLE LUCK!! and All Things Must Pass (perhaps time to FINALLY ditch Something as the "George" tribute song). " Via SH.TV: http://forums.stevehoffman.tv/threads/paul-mccartney-out-there-2013-tour.312953/page-17#post-8814725
Sounds good. With A Little Luck didn't make the cut for the 1979/80 tour, did it? I wonder how it will do live.
I would rather McCartney did some solo stuff he has ignored instead of Wings. Be cool to hear "Take It Away", "Promise To You Girl", Too Much Rain", Run Devil Run", "Beautiful Night" and "Little Willow" for example.

Yes...personally- if he does it like he has recently, I don't wanna hear it again this summer. It was nice once, but that was just really for the sake of hearing it once. If he brings it back as the opener for this tour, it needs to be done properly, and he needs to start offstage. He killed his own buzz by coming out BEFORE singing "Venus and Mars".
He did that in '76, '79 and in '89 the first drone of Figure of Eight happened before he came out on stage. I didn't see the 2002 tour, but the first chord played before Hello Goodbye happened behind the curtain/screen, correct?

That would be the icing on the cake, only 10 days to find out!

[..] Right. And in those 2012 shows wasn't it like the 4th song or so? Strange placement, but still, would be wonderful to hear.
Saw it as the first time ever not as opener at Rotterdam '12, week later as opener again in Antwerp. (After Dublin '10). WixRocks is right: doesn't work without the build-up.

I saw the 2002 tour in Denver, there was a big screen in front of the stage, then a sillouette of Paul getting on stage holding his Hofner bass in the air, then the band started hitting accent notes as the screen lifted and Paul, Rusty and Brian stepped forward to their mics. I remember, because Paul almost hit his head on the rising screen, misjudging how high it was.

I agree 100%. Of course, I'd rather he do something totally new for an opener, but if he's going to do "V&M," he needs to do it right.

Doing V&M properly, would be like doing something totally new!

Any educated guesses as to why he didn't do it the right way? Was that on the "On The Run" tour? If so, perhaps it was because he did multiple openers and wanted to keep with the "and in the end..." opening (which is fucking aweseome!) when he walks out and waves for awhile. He should keep the "and in the end..." opening and just let the lights go out and THEN while everyone is cheering, holding up lighters, start the Venus and Mars guitar chords. All the while he is singing "sitting in the stands of the sports arena" it should STILL be pitch dark with only the crowds lighters, all the way up until "*BAMB* What's that a'man holding in his hands!" to reveal Paul and the band onstage. Now that's fucking EPIC!

The problem is that outdoor shows aren't going to be dark, I saw Venus and Mars in broad daylight and it just didn't work.
-
Not ever having experienced V and M/RS, then Paul can play it however he wants! If the report is correct about All Things Must Pass/LTWTMS/With a little luck being rehearsed, then its a step in the right direction. Had always thought With a little luck could work live and the John/George tributes need to be changed.

I thought about this too. Another reason why I don't want it this summer (I'll be at an outdoor show...) BUT, it could certainly work on the first US leg with all those arenas! And that one is right in the eye of the remaster storm!

Oh...and of courseListen to what the man said hasn't been played since 1976!!!
Partially true and false. While it hasn't been performed in a live concert setting in front of a paying crowd since 1976, Paul did play it several times (albeit mimed) for promoting All The Best in 1987 and 1988 on several UK talk shows notably Wogan. Source: Eight Arms To Hold You by Madinger and Easter (2000).
-
And another hint from the most recent press release: "Paul McCartney's "Out There" tour is an all-new production [..]".

Yes but, could "all new production" become the latest "minty fresh"?
-
"The World Tonight"...would be awesome.

I think he has to switch openers because they are going to want a new DVD/CD for this tour. The last was in 2009. Before that was 2005, 2004 (red square) and 2002 Driving USA. All signs pointing to Venus and Mars/Rockshow. Though it could be anything new. Also with the rumor of All Things Must Pass, looks like he's dropping 'Something' which was featured on the Good Evening New York City DVD (Concert For George version), the uk version on Back in the US. Leading me to believe he will also drop A Day In The Life as it was on Good Evening New York City. Based on not wanting to repeat his previous DVD, to make a new one look interesting, I think he will drop the following as well. Paperback Writer Here Today Juniors Farm The Night Before And I Love Her I've Just Seen A Face I Will I've Got A Feeling Day Tripper Possibly 'Dance Tonight' and 'Sing The Changes'. That eliminates around 12 songs, leaving room for 12. My prediction: Venus & Mars/Rockshow All Things Must Pass Listen To What The Man Said With A Little Luck Letting Go Lovely Rita Silly Love Songs The rest would be too hard to predict.

It could work. Tina Turner opened her '96 concerts with "Whatever You Want," which included her singing the entire first verse off-stage. And that was largely a stadium tour, and many were outdoor concerts that began before sunset.

Based off the shows we have so far....I don't expect a DVD from this tour. However, I think that some massive tour box thing is coming in the distance with a culmination of all these little mini-tours documented. He makes more money on deluxe sets. And...I REALLY hope a lot of those songs you mentioned are gone and replaced with the others you suggest.

I hope he doesn't drop Here Today
