Special guests, song selection, new album, etc. SPECIAL GUESTS Billy Joel Bruce Springsteen Bob Weir. (He is doing speaking engagement in NYC the morning of the 17th-I see this happening especially since Gronk interfered at Fenway last summer. Only proper) SONG SELECTION Hope I'm wrong but I think we will all be seeing what the July leg consisted of. The variation will be in night two at the various venues. NEW ALBUM I don't see it being released in time now for the NY tour. Maybe a new single will be dropped at one early September midnight to create buzz but I see the CD being released for the holiday gift giving season and the tour will continue in 2018

Next leg of the tour opens in New Jersey. Since the "One On One" Tour had a huge show at Metlife in Jersey in 2016, I tend to think that the setlist for the N.Y. run MAY be slightly different. ...just my opinion.

Hope your right but when he came out in Rolling Stone and said this is the One on One tour rejigged this was the town cryer going down the street saying minty fresh. I predicted when these shows were announced each would get a different opener. Nothing new just stuff that has been played in the past. V&M/ROCKSHOW/JET. I'd be stunned if he didn't do this night two at MSG

How about a special guest of Roger Waters? He'll be in NYC that week...

It's good to hope for what you want, and I hope you get it. Until it changes, we should expect what we have been getting with one or two or three twists. I saw a few shows this time around and a few in the past and it's a GREAT GREAT show! Really looking forward to the NY area shows!! As long as you have an understanding as what you will probably hear you won't be disappointed. AT ALL!!! You're seeing the master now, and hopefully for a long time to come! You have to determine if it's what you want to hear voice wise and song selection. It is what it is! For me it's an easy choice, when is he playing and can I get there!

              7/12/13 Wash. D.C., MET PAUL!!!

7/14/14 Lincoln Nebraska ... MET PAUL!!!

              5/5/16 Minneapolis...MET PAUL!!!

I know we have been down this road many times before but I'm always hopeful for some setlist changes. These are some of the factors that might contribute to at least a couple of surprises and new songs: *As mentioned and since this is the NY city Market, a surprise guest alone could bring out a new setlist song. *Also mentioned, the fact that he previously did a "One on One" Show in the NY market in 2016 might give him pause to at least sprinkle in a couple of different songs. *The fact that he has an upcoming brand new album for the Fall or Holiday Season might produce a worldwide "live" introduction of the new single off the album. Yes, there are several factors that could lead to at least some minor changes. The fact that it is the NY Market where there is so much more scrutiny and analysis about his shows (and less adoration you get in smaller markets) among the music press, might put pressure on Paul to create some new excitement and buzz for his "One on One" tour and the new album. I think a lot might depend on how busy Paul's schedule is. As we get closer to Labor Day and if there is any news of Paul gathering the Band together for "rehearsals" will really give us the best clues to whether we're truly going to get some real surprises and true refreshments.

As mentioned in another thread, Ringo's CD drops on 9/15. He should be in NYC to promote the album. Could he be a special guest? Especially since Paul is on Ringo's CD with a song called "On the Road Again". Paul also plays drums on one other song, if I'm not mistaken. Also I just read on another thread the rumor that Ringo is playing drums on one song on Paul's new album.

Ringo could easily promote the new album from LA instead of NYC. I never expect Ringo to show up at any Paul shows. Or vice versa.

I had said this a couple of weeks before the Miami show but I wouldn't be surprised if Paul and Band decided to bring back "Day in the Life" followed by "Give Peace a Chance". With all the hype around the 50th anniversary of "Sgt. Pepper", I expected Paul to do more at his shows. Now with the possible Charlottesville repercussions around the US, the timing could be appropriate for John's song. Again, it fits well with the anniversary too and it is certainly realistic for him to bring back again. It would fit in the encore section perfectly. Personally, I thought the Sgt. Pepper reprise followed by Hi-Hi-Hi was weak. The 2 songs just didn't go together.

That would be cool. The beauty of NYC is even if artist is not performing there at this time there still could be several neat artists just hanging out there.

                        Maybe I'm amazed !!

I've been thinking the whole tour he should do Day in the Life/Peace. I agree it'd be a nice refresher, and he just played it with Neil Young at Desert Trip last year so it's not like he's forgotten : )

Even though the speculation is that Paul's next studio album may be out in 2018, I still think there's a good chance he'll preview a song or two from it during his September run in New York. What better way to promote it?

I've got a feeling we are going to get the same show as the summer run and the usual variation in night two. Hope I'm wrong but as we get closer my expectations are lowered. I still enjoy the NEW songs in the set

I agree, expecting what has been played so far is what we probably will hear. That is what should be expected. We can all hope for what we want to hear, and I hope we get it, but realistically , IMO to be disappointed because we we don't get a different setlist is unrealistic. I'm expecting and looking forward to great concerts , like, IMO, Miami, especially Tampa, and Omaha!

Regardless of one's feelings about the repetition in Paul's shows, it enabled me to throw this together: a "music video" for Maybe I'm Amazed using multi-view footage from the 8 NYC-area shows:

. I didn't have this project in mind before or during the run, but the videos I wound up with seemed to lend themselves to this sort of thing. All the stuff going on from different vantage points -- another reason Paul shows aren't boring. Let me know what you think! I've also been having other fun combining footage from those shows, like Paul shaking his butt to And I Love Her 8 times in a row from different angles (best last!). You're welcome. 😉
I have several other projects in the works combining footage from the shows too. Here's a playlist of everything so far, which also includes the In Spite solos and limo watches: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLGeWl2XzyEql7UCSqwCbKcQ_Ju3ml_Qoe.
