Circling back to Robin Williams for a minute, his death shook me more than any celebrity since John Lennon (and no death of someone I didn't personally know will ever hurt like John's did). Williams seemed somehow like the life force itself, arrived in human form. I saw him live once, at a charity benefit, and it was like watching the world's wittiest volcano, just a constant eruption of brilliance. Hearing that he'd killed himself felt like hearing that the sun had killed itself. Just unfathomable. Learning of his struggles those last months, it all made sense.

@bruce-m To this dayJL is the only celebrity I ever cried for when he died. And I was a grown man. I was 25. I think it was because of the circumstances of which he died. Murder. Plus the f king idiot who killed him had absolutely, and categorically, destroyed any possibility of a Beatles reunion I didn't cry when George died ( just about) because, like all of us, I knew it was definitely coming. Had time to let it Sink in. How ironic after the "Paul is dead" rumours, back in the 60s, Paul might actually be the LAST Beatle to pass away, but definitely, both of them not yet.

I could have written your post - same age except of course I’m a woman. I cried for John like he was a brother or something!

@njr Its very strange. When I watch the "Imagine" documentary, I momentarily actually forget that he's dead. I think it's because I get so engrossed in watching it. But sadly, at the end, reality rushes back in again, like the tide and i feel sad again🥺

@njr Yes, I saw that/

@yankeefan2 I believe the 1970 Brazil National soccer team is the greatest soccer team ever assembled in football history. And obviously that team had Pele in it.

I wonder if Paul & Nancy will come to the funeral since Nancy’s mom was Barbara Walters’ first cousin.
