Lady Leslie and I were here at the Fest For Beatles Fans in 2019 for this Wings reunion: Denny Seiwell, Steve Holley, Denny Laine and Laurence Juber.

This is a rough week. First Denny, now Norman Lear, one of the small handful of people who made television better in a big and lasting way. RIP.

My mom wasn’t famous, but she passed away Dec. 14th at the age of 93 from complications due to Alzheimer’s. She was the best mother anyone could ever ask for and I was blessed to have had her for 68 years and 7 months. Her 2nd great-granddaughter, Zarah, was born on Nov. 6th, her 93rd birthday!

@njr I'm so sorry for your loss Nancy. I lost my mom to dementia, it's a very harsh thing to witness a parent go through, so I'm very sorry you had to go through that as well.
-
@njr I am so very sorry Nancy.
-
@paulfan11 Thank you for your kind words. I’m sorry you had to go through this awful disease with your mom too.

Watching a parent's health decline is tough. My mom had a really rough death from COPD. My dad had it easier, but suffered some dementia the last few years -- happily, he still knew us and knew who he was, even if he couldn't remember anything that happened 10 minutes before. Hang in there, Nancy. It seems like your mom had a pretty good life, and you'll always have the memories.
MAF came out just as my dad's health was going into its final decline, and "The End of the End" always choked me up. Paul's attitude in that song -- "On the day that I die, I'd like jokes to be told" -- was so much like my dad it was eerie.

Thanks for your kind words Bruce. My dad passed in 2016, just shy of 90 years old, also from COPD. But he was sharp as a tack until the very end.
I want to have “In My Life” played at her service. I was thinking about “The End Of The End” too. My mom was also a Beatles fan and was my “enabler!” She went with me to see Paul in 1976, 1990 and 1993.
I begged her to take me to Cleveland Stadium in 1966 to see The Beatles (I was 11 and it was a 25 mile drive) She said “We’ll go next year.” I never let her live that one down.
She was the best and everyone she met loved her. -
Herman Rush Dies: Former President Of Columbia Pictures Television Was 94
Herman Rush, a veteran television producer best known for licensing Till Death Us Do Part (Created by Johnny Speight [1920-1998]), the UK sitcom that Norman Lear turned into All in the Family, died Dec. 12 at 94 of natural causes in Los Angeles, according to several news reports.
In the late ’60s, Rush acquired properties from Britisher Lord Lew Grade (co-founder of ATV Music Corp. owner of Northern Songs Ltd.). One of them was the popular sitcom Till Death Us Do Part, which was later shopped to Lear, who turned it into All in the Family.
