Paul's not coming here -- a place to vent
-
Don't forget Minneapolis, which was scrubbed in 2011 and then passed over (literally, en route from St Louis to Vancouver and Edmonton) in 2012. Star-Tribune: He said hello, now he says goodbye. It turns out that former Beatle Paul McCartney is not going to play Target Field after all in what would have been the two-season-old baseball stadium's first concert on Sept. 1. "There will be no Paul McCartney show at Target Field in '11," Twins President Dave St. Peter said Friday afternoon in a tweet. "Scheduling challenges for Sir Paul. Still hoping to bring concert to TF soon." On Monday, a major concert-tracking website broke the news that the "cute" Beatle was bringing his "On the Run" tour to Minneapolis. The tour is scheduled to open July 15-16 at Yankee Stadium and visit other major league venues as well."

Thanks for the invite to vent! I think how McCartney plans his tours sucks. Not only because he doesn't play New Mexico, but it really is haphazard and last minute. The Stones do it much better. Hell, MOST acts do it much better. It should never have made the news McCartney was coming to New Mexico. And his handlers should never have given the impression it was going to happen. A lot of people got their hopes up, just to have them dashed. That is not cool, and is no way to treat fans who are the source of your wealth. For three years NMSU talked with McCartney's people to do this. And now it's not going to happen. Obviously, we have seen Paul's last New Mexico show. A lot of cities have not had a McCartney show. Albuquerque. Fresno. Birmingham. Jacksonville. Little Rock. Buffalo. If Paul claims he is going OUT THERE to places he has never played, these cities should be first on the list to get a concert before Boston, Tulsa, or DC, places he has played in the last four years. I still love ya, Paul! But I do not love how you do your tours since 2009. Whew! I feel better!

It was too late in the year for a Target Field concert last fall, but I'm surprised that it has not (so far) been scheduled for this year.

That is strange, Minneapolis is a BIG market. It bothers me how secondary and third level markets like New Mexico are overlooked, but Minneapolis/St. Paul is a huge metropolis I was sure McCartney would make an effort to play.
-
Well Minneapolis is listed on the Songkick site. That's one less overlooked place anyway. 6 July, Target Field.

And let's not forget Horsens, either...

I know I am greedy because Paul has come here on every other tour but I just cannot miss "Hi Hi Hi". I will sell my left arm to see that. Seriously, any clues it will be on the next leg of tour?
-
I'm also disappointed he didn't make a stop this time in SoCal. Can only hope he'll do another leg later this year, or a new tour when the new album comes out!
-
I am kind of surprised at how So. Cal, the southwest and the Rocky Mountains are completely ignored on this tour. Never mind my bitching about New Mexico, no Phoenix, no Denver, no Los Angeles, no Las Vegas, these are regular stops for McCartney.

Sell the arm.....it was worth it!!!!

I saw McCartney perform HI HI HI in 1976. I'm satisfied.

You should. That IS the California show for this tour.

Actually, from what has been reported, Linda died in Tucson, Arizona, where the family owns a home.

Don't know if "venting" is the right word, but I REALLY wish he'd have added Kansas City to the tour list. Wish he still would! Paul...if you read this...KANSAS CITY!!!
-
I want to vent about people complaining that McCartney is not playing their city, even though he played there two years ago and many times before. How about playing cities he has NEVER played before???
