soundcheckers always get their merch at the show. gold ticketholders have their merch sent. and btw no guitar picks were given out in Phoenix and Shelley wasnt there.
2011 merch was mailed for soundcheckers.
but this year it has been given out at each show.

yes, I agree about this year but you had said we always get the merch at the show...when we didn't in 2011.

Yeah, that makes sense. There isn't a special check in for gold tix so it would be difficult to pass out the merchandise. The soundcheck email mentioned "staff on duty" and it wasn't Shelley. Hoping she will be there since it's her city...

Shelly was in Lincoln and we were not given guitar picks, much to our dismay.
-
I just bought a new guitar and was so hoping to get a pick at the soundcheck!
-
been awhile since I've seen picks given out...used to be standard but then again..groups were much smaller then.
-
We were given picks in Albany...maybe due to Paul's "first show back"...not sure.
-
Didn't some other soundcheck get them too? I know Chicago did not.

Fargo.

They did give them out at a show I was at besides Albany, I think it was Kansas City. Anybody Out There go to KC soundcheck?
-
The guitar picks can't cost that much. There were maybe 60 of us in Lincoln.

Not in Missoula, either.

I think what we paid was sufficient to cover 1 guitar pick/person

Shelly was not in Missoula. We did not do any activities at soundcheck. Just ate. We also never got to see any vendors to buy anything. What did Shelly do with you all at soundcheck? Just curious. I heard she makes it very nice.

I only have the 1 experience . . .Shelly is the cheerleader at soundcheck. She goes over the do's & don'ts before Paul comes out. But she then tells everyone to dance, sing, scream and show Paul you are having a great time. She patrols thru the soundcheckers clapping and dancing . . .and I'm sure checking that nobody is using their cell phone She is the one that handed out the picks at the shows I heard about. Once the actual soundcheck is over, she's no longer around (at least not for us). We were in a separate room to eat and party amongst ourselves. Other personnel led us to a merch booth between s/c and the meal altho I think we would have had plenty of time to buy something on our own before the show.

I think it was enough to cover an autographed copy of NEW.

yeah...that's all she did in Chicago. She said to yell & scream (duh) and act like you're having a good time...duh.

The vendors opened at 5pm outside. We had to be at soundcheck by 4:15 at the latest to check in. EVERYONE in row two center in front of us were more interested in filming the show with their cell phones than in watching the show. They will probably never even watch their stupid filmed versions of what they could have enjoyed by getting into the moment by watching and taking it all in. I am going to have to pay around $100 now for two t-shirts online for Missoula. I know this sounds like I'm complaining, but my neck was actually hurting from having to peer in between the two in front of us the entire night who were filming the show.

The access to vendors during soundcheck seems to vary by venue. I have been to soundchecks where we had plenty of time to shop and others where the vendors haven't been open, or venues where we were rushed along by local security and not "allowed" to stop and shop on our way to the buffet. I believe that the SLOTix personnel do try to get us access to a vendor that we can shop with. And Shelley is more than just a cheerleader; she is the boss of SLOTix. But she does her cheerleading thing because not everybody at soundcheck does yell and scream and dance. I have seen people just stand there and watch. Paul apparently really does like to see the group having fun and enjoying themselves, so if people are just standing still or only taking photos, to him it looks like everybody is bored. As for the randomness of the guitar picks, I have no clue about that.

I've seen Shelley in the audience dancing and enjoying the concert, not just at sound check!
