Sound Check

That's good news, thanks. They did mention a "bag you can wear" too, not sure what they meant exactly (shoulder?). Does everything fit in the bag ?

Yes, altho I don't know what they mean by "wearing" it...the US bags are large canvas tote bags that are insulated and have a cover that zips closed. You can wear it on your shoulder but it's not crossbody. I kept mine under my seat at the concert but it may be bulky for GA. Unless you are getting different bags. Maybe a backpack?

Thanks, probably the same thing, what an oversight, they don't give much of a toss do they...and Paris will be the first GA show before Madrid so no one's had a chance to get this fixed.

Quick question on the soundcheck+package. I suppose you get your "goodies" upon arrival but what do you do with them later? I suppose you can carry them around during the soundcheck but what about later when you're in GA and possibly "fighting" for your spot...any chance of some type of "left luggage" ? Thanks ! EDIT - so I called Eventtravel and there is no left luggage so be ready for your limited edition numbered lithograph to be crushed if you're in GA. I pointed this out as a bit of an oversight but they didn't seem overly concerned...
That's why I hate General Admission and love it here in the states where you have an assigned seat!
It still is awfully cramped if you have goodies. That is my only complaint about VIP. They should provide more ample seating or the option of having your merchandise mailed.

I think they actually did mail it out a few years ago. But as with everything...they figured out a way to make more money! Some of the soundchecks get pretty big & if they had to mail all the stuff out...they'd probably jack your price up another $50.00.

Exactly. That is why it should be offered as an option when you buy your ticket (for an extra shipping fee).

For the price of the soundchecks...they should not charge you for wanting it shipped. Some people may not even want it shipped.

There was no problem in Fresno. They passed out the stuff after dinner and it all the items were inside the tote bag. Carried it into the venue and stashed it under my seat. The small poster was inside a cardboard tube which was inside the tote bag along with the blanket.

Problem in St. Louis a few years back because of beer drinkers. Beer in my swag did not make me happy. Would have preferred it was mailed to me and for what I paid, it should have been. It's mailed to you if you do the Gold and Silver package.

So it didn't work out too bad in the end as I managed to grab a spot on the rail and could rest my bag against it. Not a backpack but an improved "tote" bag I suppose and with the poster it couldn't be zipped which was a bit of a problem with the rain later A very nice experience overall with some nuggets during the soundcheck (Hope of Deliverance, Ram On) and a pretty chatty Paul I was next to the desk and they didn't seem to be doing much so it was quite funny at the end when Paul asked them if they had all they needed...it's more of a "pre-concert" really Crowd was rather large (100+ people?) which was fine for the actual soundcheck, less so for the mad dash to the rail! They'd had us all come out and line up before letting in the "early entry GA" (another 100+? ) behind us and they could do so much to control the movement once they let us move forward...I doubt any early entry GA made the rail or the first two rows so if you're going to pay a big premium you might as well go for the full package if it's a GA show. Glad to have gone for it for my 6th concert since 1989 as it's a unique experience and thanks for the help and tips here.

In the U.S. there is no "mad dash." We are ushered in single file and lined up like you would at your high school graduation or something! You have to time your place in line so you get in the "front" row of soundcheck.

I think the poster is speaking about the concert itself, didn't Paris have GA standing on the floor rather than reserved seats? I think they got ushered out after soundcheck was over and then let back into the venue and so had to make the mad dash to get up to the front.
-
EDIT - thenightfish beat me to the punch Well there's no GA in the US right ? You must be referring to the actual soundcheck? There was no running for that yesterday AFAIK, it was on a first come first served basis as far as I could tell and we were at a good distance anyway. I was in the second group that got ushered in and I actually took a few steps back to be on the slightly elevated mixing desk platform. SOUNDCHECK BEFORE THE MAD DASH AFTER THE MAD DASH

No. There are seats. Thanks for sharing those photos! Glad you made it to the front for the concert!

OH! I see! Sorry, confused as usual! Edited to add: I reread the OP's post and it still sounds like soundcheck experience (that is the title of this thread after all) You're probably right, but could the OP please clarify?

Yep and two days later it's hard to believe it really happened, quite a few challenges overcome...First time I saw Paul was in that same arena in 1989, nowhere near as close of course. Was lucky enough to get good spots like that with the Stones too and while you're waiting in that spot you're thinking you'll have to take in as much as possible but once it starts you just go with the flow...and before you know it, it's over ! I was amazed when I first started talking with Stones' fans who saw them 10+ times per tour but I suppose it's trying to relive that fleeting moment as much as you can, I did it for the Stones, and yes it works in the sense that you've got another show to look forward to when the latest one is over...except you're always left wanting more. I talked to several people at the soundcheck who were doing that for the "One on One" tour as well
-
Is the soundcheck pass for just one person, or is it good for two (say a father and 13-yo son)? It seems a bit pricey if it's for just one...

Just for one--$1600 (or $2100 for front row sides only!) It includes (in the U.S.) dinner, drinks, merchandise, lanyard, soundcheck and concert. I've done it "only" twice (by myself) and next time will stick with the Gold VIP ticket only. Question: Wonder what Fan On The Run and others who have seen 50+ soundchecks do with all those backpacks?!

^^ do they give out free condoms in the backpacks? **inside joke.
