Great job, Jen...thanks for sharing!
Not a problem--thanks for liking them, folks. I'll hopefully have a few more from tonight's Fenway show, which is quite possibly going to be the wettest concert I've ever been to (30% chance of thundershowers ALL NIGHT!).
It looks like he is looking right at you! Thanks for the pictures!

Good luck! Citifield was one of my wettest shows ever. And yes, great pix, thanks for sharing. Did you notice that the lighting has changed somewhat from the first US leg, there is more backlighting on Paul, esp. towards the end of the show. And some of it is not so great for photos, from what I have been told. I wonder if that was just some fiddling around they were doing in Ottawa, or if those changes are permanent?

Ottawa just might have been my favourite Macca concert so far. Everything came together and made it a very special night. The set list was refreshed and the old favourites were still there. Some songs added to the tour for the first time. We even had Mull of Kintyre (being Canadian has its advantages!), new stage and lighting. Most importantly, Paul and the band were energised and going at every number at full throttle. I've had much better seats in the past (I was way up in the back this time - but so happy to have any tickets at all) and yet there was something really special about the concert on Sunday in Ottawa. We were rocking at the back of the house! Other posters have also said this concert might have beat them all. I really agree. Best of all, the couple sitting next to me travelled from the US for the concert. It was a surprise 25th anniversary present from husband to wife. He didn't tell her until last Tuesday that they were going to the concert. He also managed to cook up a reason why they needed to get passports (distant cousin getting married, or something like that). It all came as a total surprise to her and she had been hoping for decades to see Paul in concert. She was overjoyed the whole night (hubby too). Seeing Paul in concert never gets old for me and I feel badly for the people who seem to have become jaded somewhere along the line and complain bitterly about set lists or other aspects of the concert or production. Yes, I can understand their point of view but it's just so much more fun to enjoy the concert and feel lucky to have the experience. I hope you all have a chance to get Out There and see the show.

Thanks so much for sharing your story ehmpatty, so glad you had a great time and the story you told about the couple sitting near you is so sweet! And I agree with you as well - I do understand why people may sometimes want different songs in the setlist, more variety, etc. but at the same time I'm just so happy that we get the chance to see this living legend live and experience seeing him sing the songs that changed music forever. I truly hope he doesn't stop any time soon!

I totally agree with you. There is nothing to complaint when we have the extraordinary chance to see Paul in concert.

Yeah, I think my mom "gets it" now. LOL. She was blown away by everything. She was people watching before and after the concert, amazed by all the different ages, etc.
-
Hi, luckiest1paul. Did you and your Mom manage any sightseeing? I'm happy to hear your Mom "gets it." So glad she had a great time. I brought my 80-year old mom to Ottawa in April to see Fleetwood Mac. Like your mom, she enjoyed watching the crowd and seeing what a concert is like. She thought Lindsey Buckingham could give Mick Jagger and Paul McCartney a run for their money! I love that she has an opinion on the subject of rock and roll front men at her age! Our moms prove you are never too old to rock and roll and to try something new.

Agreed. Amazing photos!! thanks for sharing!!

I was fortunate enough to hear the poor man's soundcheck from the lobby of the arena. Mull of Kintyre was rehearsed endlessly for at least 30 minutes. It didn't sound quite to me, but it was hard to tell from the lobby. But it sounded great in concert.
LOL me too, I had the poor man's soundcheck from the lobby I remember that too, Mull of Kintyre was practised a lot.

Just glad we got there early enough to be inside instead of outside in the driving rain.

So apparently we missed Paul's motorcade entrance by a mere 15 minutes, and we were 4 deep outside so we couldn't hear the soundcheck. Woe is me. LOL. ehmpatty, we took the Ottawa River boat tour and I drove her around the Sussex Drive area. We also spent time at the Byward Market on Sunday morning, which was nice. This was only her second rock concert, the first being Burton Cummings a few years ago in a fairly intimate theatre setting. Well, she did see Elvis in Toronto in '57 but she couldn't hear him.
-
Oh that's too bad you missed the motorcade, luckiest1paul! It would have been nice for you and your mom to catch a wave from Paul. There's always next time.... It sounds like you had a lovely day in Ottawa on Sunday. I hope your mom didn't mind the hour-long wait outside in the rain too much. There was a lot of grumbling in the crowd around me for being kept waiting out in the rain - particularly since most people seem to have received an e-mail telling them that the facility opened at 6:30 and that Paul would take the stage promptly at 8:00. I did my best to cheer people up and tell them that they would forget all about the rainy wait once the show started! I gather from what others have written, the delay was due to rehearsals for Mull of Kintyre and Michelle. The performance was excellent and well worth the wait. So now your mom can add Paul to her short but select list of Elvis and Burton Cummings!

so true on my way there, it was pouring rain; so I was snug inside when we had to wait during the soundcheck.

The people inside near me were pretty OK with it; but then again we were inside, not in the rain; that's tough. But every so often you would hear someone wonder why the wait was so long. It's true, I got an email form CTCtr saying to be there at 6:30, I was there before that just because I wasn't sure how crazy it would be.

Ah, that's too bad. What time did Paul arrive? And how did you know where he would come in from? I was there a while, I had no idea where to wait for him.

I was at souncheck and Paul arrived at around 6:00 pm, which is about 30 min. later than he's arrived at other shows. So he was already running late to start with, and then the extra rehearsal really delayed the opening of the doors.

Days later I am still talking about it to family and friends and checking out all the great You Tube videos!! Noticing things I missed while watching it live

The wait was very frustrating because my mom has limited mobility and I would never have had her stand in a line had I known we'd be stuck there for almost an hour. Towards the end I was panicking and trying to find her something to sit on because she was having difficulty. But then the doors opened and it started to move and my concern was more about keeping her from being pushed over in the mad rush to get inside, as she walks with a cane. In any case the venue staff were very helpful once I got her into the 100 sections, assisting us with the stairs down to the seats, and arranging a wheelchair escort to get us out after the concert more easily. Not sure she'll be up to repeat the experience any time soon, but she really did enjoy the concert. She said that she was surprised at how full the sound was, with just 5 guys. Almost like "a full orchestra". She also couldn't believe Paul's energy and how great his voice was, joking a couple of times "he must be lip synching!" She also briefly considered vegetarianism if it would help her be so energetic (she is also in her 70s) but quickly discarded that idea and said she'd just drink more to mask the pain. My mom's a piece of work.
