THE 'FRESHEN UP' TOUR 2018
-
Poland on 12-3 is now officially listed on the tour page.
I remember a few years ago when the Firefly Festival was announced it appeared that would be the only US date-then all of a sudden a few US dates were sprinkled in around there. Hopefully the same holds true for ACL; if not there is no doubt the US will get a summer tour in 2019

These announcement coming in drips and draps are so frustrating - heading for Liverpool show but a Dublin date announcement would be appreciated sooner rather then later

The constant yearly frustration. It makes it REALLY hard to plan for...

I read on another forum that that a travel agency from Croatia (which is offering transportation for the Vienna concert) is claiming the announcement will be made on July 14th.
Coincidentally, that's a national holiday in France. Perhaps the Paris concert will be announced then as well?
Isn't there another big event happening between Croatia and France this weekend???

Coming out in drips and drabs but this week is not over with Krakow!!!

maybe it's called the "Freshen Up Tour" 'cause people were always beseeching him to literally freshen up his set lists, so he's referring to all that in the title. Cause he really is going to add a considerable amount of "newbies" this time to startle, amaze, and delight people

Thanks, Bob! I am not a fan of the drips and drabs method but glad to hear more shows are coming.

OMG just announce all the European dates already. This is beyond tedious, and not in a good way. I suppose announcing just a few (or one) shows at a time is supposed to build excitement but it's honestly just annoying and makes me less likely to get tickets. Sorry, but I don't want to risk spending hundreds of dollars on flights and hotel only to find out a couple of days later that he's playing much closer to where I live. It made sense back in 2007-2009 following the seperation/divorce from the ex but now that he's back to doing more normal tours that are clearly planned well ahead of time it's pointless.

With the Egypt-themed album, it would be cool if Paul REALLY threw us all for a loop and included Spirits of Ancient Egypt in the set. (Not speculating that it will be, just throwing it out there for fun ) Who would get the lead vocal? Abe?

Just went to buy tickets when they went on sale at the exact time & all gone immeditely. Shocker.

Well, at 76 years old he's off and running, but if it takes another three years to return to Europe again....he'd be 79! Who knows if he'd tour Europe again

Exactly why I'm not passing on the opportunity to see him in Liverpool this time. He may do smaller shows in the future but what are the odds he will continue to do the almost 3 hour concerts after this?

Any European rumors still cooking? Whispers of Paris?

Yes, waiting on Paris before making travel plans.

I know it's not the popular opinion here, but I still think we'll see a small cluster of US shows around ACL...maybe as few as two, probably no more than five or six...and I think they could get away with waiting until the end of August if they wanted, to announce them.

I don't see why not. If I remember correctly, Paul stated in an interview somewhere that after the album is released in September, they'll be on the road for pretty much the remainder of the year. So far we've only heard about...
Canadian Dates: Late September
Austin City Limits: Mid-October
European Dates: December
That leaves pretty all of October and November open, as well as the possibility of additonal European shows. I could easily see some US shows being added, although not to the point of a multi-month tour leg like we had last summer.

I don't think we'll see a cluster of US shows at all. I think you'll see the European shows bleed into late November. There are still some usual suspects missing....Germany, France, Ireland, Italy....as far as after Austin City Limits, from what I heard it is will not be US. Can things have changed, sure but they usually do not. Which would leave the only window the week before ACL which might leave you room for 2 or 3 if they decided to squeeze them in. But I have heard zero word of any US city in the mix at this point.
it's why I warned all not to wait around for shows that would not be coming

I appreciate the information Bob, but nobody is waiting around as if something could have been. Those that have the professional and financial accommodations to leave the country to see Paul McCartney have planned to do so. Those of us that cannot, are still here waiting for a single viable option. I know I speak for many when I say there presently are none and honestly, that isn't the worst thing in the world. Assuming Paul maintains his amazing height of health and happiness and can rock into 2019, let the rest of the world live it up with him too.
Besides, three stops on Elton John's farewell tour this fall already did a number on my concert budget early in the year
