I used to think "It's Not True" might be about Linda (?). And the song "Press," which is a bit naughty *or maybe I just have a dirty mind sometime, LOL
I do think “It’s Not True” is about Linda. And of course Press is a double entendre!
My memory was also that it was about Linda. The lyrics certainly fit. And my 'young' memory also seems to recall that Press was a little 'suggestive'... "right there, that's it, yes".... of course, I could be wrong.... I'm still wondering what 'Oklahoma' had to do with anything. Unless it's a euphemism I still don't understand.
Probably the same way Tucson, Arizona had to do with "Get back." The words fit the space. That's about it. Someone said they didn't care for "Pretty Little Head." Love that song. It was different and had a great sound....not like anything Paul had done before.
No, “JoJo” from Tucson, Arizona referred to Linda’s first husband, Melville Joseph See. He moved to Tucson to go to the University of Arizona for graduate studies and Linda went there too.
I did not know that....thought it was just some words he needed for the song........ Thank you.
The name "JoJo" referred to Linda's first husband? But the next words after that line are "in a low-necked sweater"--I had read before that name refers to a fellow Wings member's girlfriend or wife at the time named "Jo" or "JoJo"--Denny Laine's paramour.
At the end of the song, Paul talk/sings “Get back home Loretta. Your mamas’s waiting for you. Wearing her high heeled shoes and a low necked sweater.”
Here’s the lyrics. Read the first paragraph:

I read in one of the stupid Beatles books that Denny's lover was named Jojo, she was very pretty and that Linda was kind of jealous and wary about her. But, like you said, Wings of course didn't even exist when he wrote "Get Back." My time periods were badly mixed up, LOL

He married her. She and Linda actually had a couple men in common!

I never realized Denny Laine had so many kids (including a son named Laine Hines, as Denny’s real name is Brian Hines)

Back to Egypt Station: I've only recently started to really focus on how many interesting bass lines Paul does on this album. They're generally not very up front in the mix, so it's easy to miss them, but there's lots of interesting bass stuff going on in People Want Peace, Dominoes, I Don't Know and a number of other tracks.

Ironic you brought the bass up Bruce. This morning I put on ES in my car after a couple of weeks absence. It was very early and my first thought listening to "I Don't Know" was how great the "bass" sounded. It is such a great song (very beatlesque imho) and with all the melodic changes, I never get tired of it.
Here's hoping Paul adds it to 2019's Setlist.

Just had a very cool Egypt Station moment and just had to share. At my son's powerlifting gym today, "Caesar Rock" came blasting out of the speakers, and yep, sounded freaking awesome!! Loud, fast, silly, and rocking!! Yep, I did a couple extra reps!!

Over the weekend I drove with my 35-year-old nephew to visit an elderly aunt, and I had Egypt Station in my car stereo. When we started listening it was on People Want Peace, and about 2/3 of the way through the song, he said, "That sounds like someone I should know, but I'm not placing it. Billy Joel?" I said, "You're close -- a little older." He thought for a second. "One of the Beatles?" I smiled. "Paul McCartney?" After a 2 or 3 more tunes, he said. "Interesting. There are a couple places where it totally sounds like something the Beatles might have done, but other times not at all."
I think I at least piqued his interest.

Well I'm not sure I'd go THAT far. An intermediate jedi, maybe.

Now less than 1 week from the first South American Show (Chile). Let's hope for a bunch of new Egypt Station songs for this new leg of the tour. We keep hearing rumors that Paul and Band are practicing "Back in Brazil" which Bruce rightfully mentioned could just be a "one off" for the South American audience but I have a feeling we might get more.
Keeping my fingers crossed that Paul is more adventurous for this upcoming leg and is "angry" that this terrific album was totally ingnored by those idiot "Grammy" voters.

Let's hope he takes that attitude and not, "Well, no one cares about my new stuff, so I'll just keep playing the old favorites."
