Just saw this morning that CBS (in the US for sure) will air a primetime 1 hour special of "Carpool Karaoke" later this month. The actual time will be Monday August 20 on CBS at 8pm (eastern standard time). CBS is emphasizing that there will be extensive "addlitional" footage shown on this special that you didn't see on the Youtube 23 minute edited segment that so many people saw on the Internet.
I must say that the "marketing and publicity" timing for this special could not be better for Egypt Station considering the album will be officially released only a little more than than 2 weeks later. When you compare the God awful promotion that Paul's previous record company did for "NEW", Egypt Station should really benefit relative to overall sales upon its release.
Not sure what you mean by godawful promotion of "New." In the U.S. at least they set up a pretty massive blitz of TV appearances. That's about as good as you can get publicity-wise for a geezer act like Paul.
It also depends on what is shown in that segment. Are they going to highlight Egypt Station songs or just the same ol Beatles songs? And still two weeks before the album... it is an eternity nowadays.
I was looking through my music on my phone and when I came across the Egypt Station album art I had to remind myself it was coming out soon. I’d forgotten. And I’m a fan who checks these boards everyday. The average person who they would need to make a splash sales wise? Forget it.
The album should drop as soon as the new CBS segment ends! Buy it in digital form that night and in physical form the next morning.
Yea Bruce...that was kind of a "knee-jerk" reaction on my part. You're right..they did some good things in the US before the "NEW" album was released. I do kind of remember members on this Board complaining heavily about poor marketing prior to the release of the album. Only from my memory, but I think it had something to do with the fact that his new tour was already in full gear before "NEW" was released.
From a mass marketing point of view, practically nothing Paul and company could ever do will beat the "Carpool Karaoke" segment. Whoever thought of that idea for making the public aware of Paul's upcoming album was a genius. Just look at the massive hits on Youtube alone.
I think the timing for the CBS Special will also be great from a marketing point of view. Even though the official release of the album is still around 2 weeks away (9/7) people can still preorder "New Egypt" upon watching the "full" episode. At the very least you will get a full "live" version of "Come On To Me". Hopefully we will get another song from "New Egypt" as well.
You’re combining “New” and “Egypt Station!”

yea I see...we were comparing the marketing of New (the album) with what has been happening so far with Egypt Station. I see I was calling Egypt Station...New Egypt. Now I realize why I always hated the title of his last album "NEW".

"Fuh You-Departing 15 August at 5pm"--does that mean that's gonna be a single to drop then? You think? Wonder if "Fuh You" means "For You." At first I thought it might mean "F-----k You" and be about Cheeto (POTUS), LOL, but I've read it's another "raucously" naughty song about "getting it on," which makes it seem it'll be more raunchy than "Come On To Me" which someone claimed is just about "flirting" (?).
-
Fuh You.

eek, I hope the seven minute "epic closer" called "Despite Repeated Warnings" doesn't sound like the eons-long "Horses" anthem on "Memory Almost Full," which was heavy going for my ears, almost inflicting a migraine (unless it doesn't seem like that anymore when I grant it more ear bud time), hope this doesn't earn me a high number on Macca's shite list, am anticipating "Warnings" too and wonder what it's about, madly curious as a hyper anxiety-ridden kitty with its paw claws stucky in the catnip cookie jar
-
*cat paws "stuck" in the catnip cookie jar, I meant. Hearing "Egypt Station" is truly something big to look forward to, thanks for this, Mr. Macca Man, more new music all the time please

According to someone (a boardie) who heard him sing it in Studio Two, it is not “for you” it is “F...k you.” This should be interesting!
And it sounds like he’s releasing the single on Aug. 15th.

That word is so overused in songs now that whatever shock value it once had is long gone! I'm almost surprised when I don't hear it. But...maybe that will not be the case for Paul....saying it in song. Or maybe adding on the "you" makes it a bit more taboo....instead of just saying something like...F...K it.

Thank you. Guess I will do the same.
But now they are charging you $5.99 for shipping. It's probably better just to walk in the store on release day & get it then.
Yes, I did notice that when I ordered it......$5.99 for shipping seems a bit high for a single CD, but I've ordered it, soooooo. anyway, thank you.

You don’t have a Target store near you? There are 2 of them near me!

I have 4 nearby so I'm sure I will find a copy.

I tend to agree with you there. Paul has already used the F - word in song ('Big Boys Bickering' from the Off The Ground project) and John was singing the F-word in song ( 'Working Class Hero') near on 48 years ago.
Of course. the word Paul chose to sing at the intimate 'Abbey Road' gig in front of mainly family & friends might have been a different word to that he used on the actual recording?

Will let you know. I just asked my FB friend who was there.

Actually, I do. I may well go there too! I probably just wanted the "high" I get from ordering it. It is Paul, after all! I've been known to purchase his new albums more than once....to help his sales!

"Fuh You" must be a Paul punk rock song...'cause it's by Paul, it'll no doubt sound much better than punk rock...perhaps it will be an acoustic, pretty folk number (?) LOL sung ironically sweetly.
"Despite Repeated Warnings" might be about the immense ongoing danger of global warming and what it inflicts on Paul's beloved nature, refer to his long held nature worship...might boast
exquisite images of nature's multiplicity of beautiful nature scenes ...there are some in one of the songs, certainly, the one about he used to get high but doesn't have to, anymore, because of his beloved, and things he does with her.

Heard back that he just sang “Fuh you.”

Thanks Nancy, I can't say I'm really surprised.

Now it says the colored vinyl will be exclusive to the website...I preordered my copy from my local brick and mortor independent record store. Their computer has 2 different ones but doesn't say it's colored. I ordered the $39.99 version so surely it will be the colored version, right?

Which brick and mortar store? Amazon has it for $31.57, but the photo shows black vinyl. My friend ordered the color vinyl from somewhere online and I sent her an email asking where. Paul’s site has it for $39.98:
I would say for $39.99 it had better be the colored vinyl. Paul’s site has black vinyl for $34 and change.
ETA: Amazon has the deluxe vinyl for $36.09 which doesn’t show the colored discs, but that has to be it. Amazon has the best price and you will get free shipping since it’s over $35.
