Surely a deserved listening, but frustrating that they mention zero post-Beatles vocals. No "Maybe I'm Amazed" or "Band on the Run"? Really?

Really. What, did they think that was his peak? *rolls eyes*

We might as well resign ourselves to the fact that they will always concentrate on his Beatles songs. You know one day his obituary title will be “Ex-Beatle Paul McCartney Dies.” Majority of the article will be about the Beatles. They will briefly mention Wings and his solo career.

Gawd, did they leave out Elvis and Roy Orbison? And Chris Issak, who sounds like Orbison? And what about that New Orleans black male singer, whose name escapes me right now, whom Linda Ronstadt hailed along with Annie Lennox as the very best singers...and Ronstadt's missing...and Laura Nyro, among other awesome songbirds while they include Dylan, Rod Stewart, Stevie Nicks, Elvis Costello and a few others whose vocals don't exactly thrill me.  Lauren Hill sounds exactly like Roberta Flack, the "Killing Me Softly" singer. So why isn't she on there, too?  Where's the great Donnie Hathaway?  I love Leonard Cohen's poetic pithy lyrics, but God Lord, not his singing (petulant frown)...Where's Elton John, he's no slouch at singing;  I'll think of others. Is Janis Joplin on there? Maybe I bypassed some of the slides by mistake (?).  My Gawd, where's Patsy Cline, I'd stick her on there instead of George Jones, maybe! George Jones sang quite poignantly and emotionally,  but sounded so hickified. I love some of Dolly Parton's songs, but her trilling always reminds me of a Munchkin on The Wizard of Oz movie's; such almost unbearably  shrill, high warbling! "On helium!" Maybe these reactions are at least partially subjective. Many listeners might be knocked out by some singers I disparaged, and want to crucify me (?). Oh, I also don't find Prince's voice all THAT special, to be honest. I guess David Bowie sounded too overpoweringly English, but he did vocalize with loads of feeling. Not one of my faves, though, to be honest, not one of the top ones, nor Prince, whom so many music fans just idolize. Leon Russell always sounded drunk on his ass, but quite distinctively.

I truly doubt they will say one word about his solo career, agree that Wings would get brief mention.

Hopefully they will mention that after Wings he continued to sell out concerts into his 80s!

I didn't read through the whole list, but if they really left out Roy Orbison and Elvis Presley, that's absurd. This is why I try not to pay attention to these sorts of lists.
