Hey everyone!
Basically, it was incredible!! A wonderful day!!! The new songs are excellent and yes a few changes to the set list. Everyone was so happy to be there and the studio was fantastic. We got to speak to both Johnny and Orlando too, both really lovely!!
We weren’t allowed phones in the building but the whole thing was filmed and Mary McCartney took lots of crowd photos too, so that’s something to look for!
He told some interesting stories about Abbey Road which I hadn’t heard before, including smoking in a room out back so that George Martin didn’t find out! He also went to a really old piano in the corner and played Lady Madonna. Explained the piano belonged to someone way back when, and he used to play on it back in the day too.
Overall an amazing day, it’s all a bit too much really! Still can’t believe it!
I am so jealous, but your entry video was great and you deserved it! Did anyone get to hug Paul or talk to to him? Were all the winners from the U.K.?
Bumping this up - are you still around Katie, or are you floating “High In The Clouds?”
I am indeed! There was about 20 if us, all UK based although there were two lovely American ladies and one Australian lady (both lived near London). Seems like I travelled the furthest- from Leeds- about 2 and a half hours on the train. Didn’t get chance to talk to Paul but we were incredibly close and a few got a handshake!

Katie...thank you for posting your report, I am so happy for you that you got to be at this show!
As to the setlist, I would venture to guess that seeing Paul and the band in such an intimate, special setting (have you ever been inside Studio 2?) even those here who are disappointed with it on paper would not be disappointed in person. A show like this is nothing like seeing Paul in an arena or stadium with thousands of other people.
Thanks! Going back to the set list, yeah I can see on paper to some it is disappointing but as you said, when you’re witnessing it in a room full of history- can’t really beat it! I think the set list intended to serve a purpose. It was upbeat- only one slower song being ‘My Valentine’. It was very much a ‘rock’ gig, I think anything slower would’ve killed the mood. There were a couple I would’ve liked to hear but as I said, they wouldn’t be in keeping with the overall ‘vibe’ the band were going for.

I think we will see a different setlist for the actual tour. These are just secret warm up shows. He will play different songs for sure come the fall. I doubt he’ll keep Hard Days Night as the opener and other songs will change. Honestly.
This is how I feel as well.
The songs he played yesterday he could play in his sleep.
"He could play in his sleep"
I wonder if Nancy pokes him & says "Sing a different one honey."

You need to click on the round image at the top left corner to see the other 2 videos, which will disappear 24 hours after being uploaded.

I can’t find where I asked a question about “who’s the black guy with Paul?” but I later found out it was Nile Rodgers. (Somebody posted a pic of them together at Abbey Road Studios)

It was at the Lipa graduation - Nile was one of the people made an honory companion or whatever the fancy wording is, each year Paul does it for a few celebs who have given a masterclass to the students the previous years.

At LIPA they're called a Companionships as opposed to an being called honorary degrees, which is more a more common description in the UK.

Thanks! Couldn’t remember where it was - forgot it could have been LIPA - duh!

So much for a fresh setlist lol. Other than the brand new songs and "909" not much different.
It is typical and should come as no surprise. Three to Four songs off the latest album to promote it which is good but the rest is the same old stuff which is a bit of a shame.
Couldn't agree more Yankeefan. I'm as big of a Macca fan as anyone but I'm not a fanboy/groupee in any way. I could care less if Johnny Depp or Orlando Bloom was there. I was just interested in the setlist and as usual, very disappointed.
Except the 4 new songs from the Egypt Station sessions there was nothing there to get excited about. He has done almost all the songs countless times before except for "909" that Maccaroni mentions.
Just don't understand why Paul doesn't want "more" of his "very good to great" Solo songs better known. Without any research, here would be my dream "secret gig" setlist (in any order). I'm even giving "choices" from different albums. If I did some research, I could come up with plenty more that would be great to hear.
1.World Without Love - #1 song in 1964 he gave to Peter and Gordon
2. P S I Love You - similar arrangement as the Beatles' version
3. For No One - only done on one tour
4. I Will - only done one tour from my recollection
5. When I'm 64 - great sing-along for the crowd
6. Eat as Home or Smile Away from Ram
7. Getting Closer or Love Awake (from Back to the Egg)
8. Don't Let It Bring You Down or Cafe on the Left Bank (from London Town)
9. Take It Away or Somebody Who Cares (from Tug of War)
10. Footprints or Move Over Busker (from Press to Play)
11. Put It There or My Brave Face (from Flowers in the Dirt)
12. Hope of Deliverance (that's an easy one from Off the Ground as he has done it before multiple times with his band)
13. Little Willow or Beautiful Night (from Flaming Pie)
14. Promise to You Girl or Too Much Rain (off Chaos)
15. Ever Present Past or That Was Me (off Memory Almost Full)
16. Wings of a Nightingale (hit written by Paul for the Everly Brothers)
17. Early Days ( from the New Album)
Now add in the new songs from the Egypt Station sessions and this would be my "dream" type concert. There are many other songs that you could substitute that would be just as exciting to hear. But this would take time and rehearsals something that Paul obviously doesn't want to do. It's a shame in my opinion.

Every member of this forum should write at Macca twitter account to request to add songs never performed live on his setlist or at least a special gig for "hardcore fan" with only solo year songs...
