Let It Be / Get Back (the movie)

Sorry folks, but no Aug. 27th in theater 2 hour movie. Only the three 2-hour shows on Disney+
And if they don't issue a DVD/Blu-ray of it, I will eat my hat!

Praying there will be a DVD, since I don’t have a computer to stream. Verizon is supposed to have a free trial for Disney+
Just sign up with your TV provider for Disney+ in mid-Nov. for one month at $7.99 and cancel it after you watch the 3 parts!

I can hardly wait for this!
I'm already a Disney subscriber... I would subscribe otherwise... It's like 120 bucks a year... AUD... worth it, just for the Star Wars movies. Let alone, this giant Beatle contribution.
This is going to be... EPIC....
And I'll be waiting for the DVD Collection. That's going to be even better.
Very excited. This is the release I have been waiting for.

Wow! Expensive in Australia! It is $80 for 12 months here. Never mind - just realized $120 Aussie = $89.77 U.S,!
Or just get one month for $7.99.

Only 90 AUD dollars the first year, Nance. Then they jacked it up. Still, good value. Well worth it, with this magnificent Beatles' release imminent... I can hardly wait, but I hope the DVD release is imminent. With even more footage. I am so excited about this.
It concerns me I won't be able to buy a CD version for my car... given my old car died and the new cars don't have a place for a CD... I'll just have to stream it on my car with my I-phone.... how did life become so difficult?

I bought a used 2016 Honda CR-Z (hybrid 2-seater) in Jan. 2020. Have only put about 1000 miles on it because of the pandemic! Anyway, it has a CD player "hidden" behind the backup camera/radio screen! Thank God! The car only had one owner. First off, he didn't buy it new until June 2017 (it was delivered to the dealer in Dec. 2015) and he only kept it a couple years and put only 23,000 miles on it! So the warranty on the hybrid batteries (8 years) begins from June 2017! This is the 3rd hybrid I've had - gave my 2003 Honda Civic to my daughter and the batteries died a year before the warranty was up, so she got them replaced for free! My 2nd hybrid was a 2011 Honda CR-Z that got totalled in Jan. 2020 by my son (not his fault - stupid woman turned right in front of him!) and the batteries never died in 9 years!
Sorry, I'm way OT!

I bought a new Nissan Murano & they come with cd players.

Ladies, whilst I am also off-topic, the hardest thing to work out with a new car is they no longer have keys.
No keys?... No keys??.. It's all electronic.
No keys...
That's akin to listening to any "music" released by Kanye West. And just about all that represents "rap".... with a silent "C".... no keys... no keys... just blandness.
Oops... there I go again.
-
I want to be excitd by the release of six hours of the lads tooling about in the studios making what would become "Let It Be." But when I heard it was going to be THAT long instead of a two-hour movie, I got this sinking feeling that "more might just be less." Really.....six hours? The end result is a 35-minute album, that is not considered to be one of their best. I wonder: Was this Peter Jackson's idea, or Apple's or both?? It just seems excessive. I mean if Peter Jackson can make an excellent 90-minute documentary of soldiers in World War I, does he really need six hours to tell and show us The Beatles writing and making an album....or of being excellent musicians, which we already knew??? How compelling could that be....even for die-hard fans such as myself? I hope I love every second of it and want more, but me thinks the original plan was the best idea. The mystique of the group would clearly and easily have been maintained....and strengthened. After six hours it could go in the opposite direction and become tedious in the process, as in "what was all the fuss about on their breaking up, even though they seemed to really like and enjoy each other...and enjoyed the creative process?"

Staying off topic...getting used to the "no keys" is difficult in the beginning. Now I like it.

It has taken me a while to get used to on my 2016 Honda CR-Z. When I was in Vegas in 2017 and I rented a new Mustang and it drove me nuts for a bit until I got the hang of it! There was a guy there yelling at the clerk that he wanted a car with a key! The clerk said "All of our cars have keyless ignition! Just put your foot on the brake and press the button!" Thankfully I heard that because I had no clue you had to step on the brake!

Give it a chance! I bet it will be fantastic! Remember how he spaced out The Lord Of The Rings trilogy over 3 years?! We went every Christmas for 3 years! At least we get to see this over 3 consecutive days!
Don't forget, the entire rooftop concert is going to be on there! And aren't there going to be interviews interspersed amongst the Beatles rehearsals, etc.? Too bad so many have already died: George Martin, Geoff Emerick, Mal Evans, Neil Aspinall, John and George etc. But maybe, just maybe, he interviewed Paul & Ringo! Even Yoko!

Beatles 4 ever.... the more footage I can see from this, or any other release from the Beatles, the more the merrier. I love every bit of lost footage, etc. I'm not going to be looking for a "movie" or a succinct wrap-up. I'll be happy with as much music and video as I can get. I'd happily buy something that was 48-hours long, never-ending.... Cos that's all we've got now... plus, I just love the evolution of watching brilliance.... B 4 Ever, this is going to be awesome.
The album itself is just brilliant alone with Two of Us, Across the Universe, Let it Be, I've Got a Feeling, Get Back and The Long and Winding Road. Some of their greatest.
And the rooftop performance with one of John's greatest... Don't Let Me Down. And the sessions will show lots of performances that made it onto Abbey Road and solo albums.
I know I keep saying it.... but this is going to be EPIC!

Okay, now you're getting me all revved up! And, as you said, it is all we have left, so I should savor every moment of it. I do really like the "Naked" version of the "Let It Be"album versus the official one Spector overproduced. I know there will be a book released with the video. A remixed version of the album? I'm sure Paul would opt for the Naked" version, but it would be nice if Giles were working on the sound project of the music....just name it "Get Back." (Speaking of overproduced, however, I sorta thought George Martin overproduced "Good Night" on the White album...all the lush violins and the heavenly choir. I opted for the stripped down version of that song on the Anthology album. ) The "Let It Be" album did have 3 No. 1 songs in the States, so there is that to like. (I liked that the Naked version did not have those brief "Maggie Mae," "Dig It,"bits. So..... I hope some of the Abbey Road songs are far enough along that we almost get the finished product! I'm jumping all over the map here, I know. Please excuse.

Since there's so much footage.. (how many hours did Paul say they have, 56? someone correct me if I'm wrong).. why don't Paul & Ringo just do another Anthology type of tv series, and use the footage in various episodes? It would be like watching The Beatles in a reality show, lol, only from 1969. The very last episode could be the rooftop concert. I'm sure it would do great in the ratings. It's only a question of how much time it would take to edit it all into episodes... that would probably take a long time, and be all-consuming and take a huge production team to put it all together.
I know a lot of people who would love to watch something just like that! Would love to see multiple episodes. Wow Great Idea Lady Leslie

While we're OT, I used to own a CR-Z and it was a great little car. I'm sure you'll enjoy it. But last year I traded it in to go all-electric (Hyundai Kona Electric), which is even better. Alas, like many new models, you can't get a CD player in the Kona.

Yeah, I remember you telling us that. You like the all-electric? I'd be fearful taking it on anything like a long trip. My cousin just bought a 2022 Hyundai and 99% sure it was a Kona - do they make them gas-powered only?

(**I am going on past movie theaters)
I try and see movies like Let It Be / Get Back as soon as possible, because I want to and because they would have short theater runs. They would remove some movies like this without much notice.
* Sometimes intentional to release a DVD months later.
if Disney has a hand in this, they will package and repackage it over and over to make as much as they can on it ....years ago I wanted to buy Let It Be the movie (for a reasonable price) I have seen it many times and to this day will pick up my guitar and play soon after ( in the inspired way) ... I am hoping this will be that way. I like hearing different versions and takes by The Beatles - I am hoping the movie will have that feel to it.
the trailer footage was enough to be a good tease.
trying not to get my expectations too high, but I am looking forward to seeing the movie. -
