This article seems to confirm that Petty is going to close the festival, but I'm not a subscriber so can't access the rest of it. If that's true then there may in fact be a second weekend and a Sat. night for Paul? http://www.musicweek.com/live/read/tom-petty-and-the-heartbreakers-set-for-bst-hyde-park/066875
Yep, it was confirmed early today. They are playing the Sunday night, July 9th, which leaves the Friday and Saturday nights open. My guess is that one of those nights, probably the Saturday, will be taken by another act. There's just as much chance for it to be Paul as there is for any other big act. I know the Stones are planning to tour Europe next summer, and they are fond of Hyde Park! Who knows...
I saw the confirmation about Petty - also playing that night (so far) are Stevie Nicks and the Lumineers. So definitely a Saturday night open now for somebody...

after the brutal reviews and festival reactions this year.
I was on "One On One" concert, also reading reviews and most of them were positive. What are you talking about? I am asking seriously

Flowers in the Dirt reissue confirmed (as we'd been expecting) might 1 song from it sneak it's way into the 2017 setlist..??

Any of those would be cool but out of the three I reckon the most likely is 'This One'. It's probably the easiest one to sing. The phrasing makes it pretty easy to do live. Lots of gaps in between each line. It's also a great song!

Man, I adore that album. Great stuff all round. It's so hard to pick just one song to go in the setlist. Put It There would be a great addition to the acoustic set, This One is great and I always loved We Got Married but it might be a bit long and would it be right to sing it without Linda?
-
As much as I would love to see a FITD song make it in the set, Paul is just very predictable for making very minor changes in the set and usually haven't nothing to do with the latest archive release. Plus with the fact that we are most likely due for a new album in 2017, I would think at least a couple of those songs will sneak into the show
-
Anyone else think that Paul will play ACL Fest in 2017? It's one of the only major US festivals he hasn't played recently
-
I'd say way too early to tell. It will be interesting what the release of the new album will effect the tour

I'm doubtful on it. ToW & PoP did nothing, mind you maybe cause of WOA remaster, Hi, Hi, Hi & Listen to What the Man Said came back? I think he should just do 1 or 2 songs from that album as it was performed on a very successful tour & is from a very successful album, but it's not Beatles songs sadly. He'll definitely have plenty fans at each gig that'll know these songs. I really thought the reaction to him doing Temporary Secretary would've encouraged him to do more solo songs but sadly not

Unfortunately he had to sandwich that song in between Beatles songs and with an all-telling introduction about how the crowd would go silent for the upcoming song... It sums it up, I'm afraid.

Oh, I thought he played it at the early spot in between previously 'Got To Get You Into My Life' and 'Paperback Writer' etc. Point still stands.

Hearing Temporary Secretary has to be my favorite Paul concert moment.... Hope he has some more breakout moments...there are so many songs!!! Some of those concert people could use a education on the many variations of Paul McCartney Another great concert memory was when he was playing songs from Rushes in Italy...That just blew my mind too...and looking around at the other people who also knew what they were hearing... We were Tripping The Light Fantastico!!!

That was a stunning moment for me as well, was absolutely gobsmacked when Temporary Secretary played. I'm seeing Elvis Costello on the 18th of March & I'm banking more on him that he'll be more likely to talk about FITD at his show instead of Paul

Saw Elvis twice in 2011 with his Revolver Spin the Wheel tour. He had about 50 songs and invited audience members to Spin the Wheel and the band would perform the song that the wheel landed on... The person who spun the wheel, would then get to dance in a go-go cage after drinking some mysterious beverages onstage. During one song, he would wend his way through the close packed audience with lights and camera on him as the crowd was dancing. It was soooooo cool and random. Really enjoyed that tour !!
