If Australia is ever going to happen again it will be in early 2017 as that's our summer. If not then it will never happen, unless we get to see him when he is 80 and whispering songs.

I've been contemplating an overseas trip next year to see him live before it becomes not worth the expense. Ideally, I would love to see him here in Melbourne and spend the passport and plane money on a higher level ticket. Get a bit closer and maybe Soundcheck if I can justify it. I agree early next year seems most likely if it were to happen at all. There were musings of him swinging round our way back in 2013, I think when he was doing the Japan shows. What with the rumour of more of them and his people APPARENTLY checking places out here for roughly the same time, it's either then or never, I reckon.

        • Melbourne AAMI Park 6/12/17, Waaaaay up the back (still incredibly fab)

I am hoping that this current tour is his last full tour. His voice is bad right now. Maybe the rest will help and he can concentrate on writing new songs and making at least one more high quality Pop/Rock album. If he rests his voice plus the wonders that they can do in the studio, Paul might be able to produce even more than one good to great CD. How great would that be. I fear that this non-stop touring might have severe negative effects on his voice to the point where we have seen his last good studio album (New from 2014) I think Paul could still do 5 or 6 "special type shows" at special locations over the next couple of years. I recently saw a Jeff Lynne/ELO special show where he had a full orchestra, some members of his original ELO band, several backup singers in front of about 50,000 people outside of London. It didn't overtax Mr. Lynne and he is younger than Paul. It was a great show and Paul has an even better back Catalog. Paul needs and deserves to slow down. We would still be able to see these "special type" shows on DVD if he chooses to do them. At his age and current status of his voice, the idea of doing 50 plus shows in a given year around the world is crazy.

I assume you mean Glastonbury a couple of weekends ago? Jeff toured the UK earlier this year but didn't play to anywhere near 50,000 in one night as it was an arena tour. It wasn't a full orchestra on his tour or at Glastonbury either. Also, only Jeff and Richard Tandy remain in the band from previous ELO line ups.

That being said, I saw BB King less than a year before he died and it was a damn good set! He only did 45 minutes but it was killer!

Agreed ! BB King was great . Just because you have to sit because of health reasons doesn't mean you can't put on a great show !

I go back so far,I'm in front of me

If I understood this correctly, the plan for Lucca Summer Festival 2017 is to do it in a special area where McCartney would play for 55,000 people: http://firenze.repubblica.it/tempo-libero/articoli/musica/2016/07/08/news/lucca_torna_il_summer_e_l_anno_prossimo_vi_porto_paul_mccartney_-143674722/ http://www.spettakolo.it/2016/07/08/paul-mccartney-italia-nel-2017-un-mega-evento/ Maybe someone who speaks Italian can provide a better translation/explanation?

Now I'm wondering: which important festivals (anywhere in the world) Paul has not performed at yet?

He's not played Leeds and Reading and T In The Park all in the UK.

Or Sziget Festival in Budapest. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sziget_Festival Though I'd much prefer an arena gig like in 2003.

How about the Peach Festival? Sean Lennon is playing there this year: http://thepeachmusicfestival.com/daily-lineup/

Nothing changing. Desert trip appears to be last shows this year as Paul plans to finish new studio album. As far as next year, while no definitive news...front runners appear to be Japan and possibly Australia

From what I hear, Flowers set is done. But it is strikingly silent. At this point, it is unknown how (1) the Capital deal which starts in 2017, (2) Hollywood Bowl album and (3) Ron Howard film will effect this release.
