Would Love To See This One! Hope Someone Films It For Those Of Us Who Can't Make It! http://www.mickjagger.com/news/desert-trip-announced-stones-dylan-macca-more
^^ Coachella/ Indio/ Desert Trip, for people like myself, who aren't going to plop down some "out of space money" for super duper VIP areas, just isn't interesting to me. I can't see wandering the desert for anything, except peyote, even with these acts. If you don't have big money or connections it sounds miserable. As much as Coachella pretends to be as cool as Woodstock 1969, it is full of celebrities and pseudo hippies with moms and dads money to spend. Not my cup of tea. Have a great one to all that go!ð?¢ð??µð??¾

It's now a "twice in a lifetime event" But seriously, I wonder if this will "force" the bands to play different sets now...will be interesting.
-
both weekends are now sold out

.. ...next up the caravan moves to the East Coast, then to South America. Anybody else see this panning out that way? Sincerely, Captain Cynical.

Interesting point. With Paul and the Stones I can only see one or two changes at the most. More than likely a set staple swapped for another set staple.

The Stones change about 4-5 songs form show to show, but Paul's set seems to be pretty locked on this tour. Dylan and Young's sets will likely change a fair amount and I expect The Who to change a couple of songs. Waters will likely be the same each weekend.

No the stones don't change around 4 or 5 songs from show to show. It does happen but very rarely. The same 19 or 20 songs usually but they do shight the order of songs within the set.

There is one article in Brazil around the time it was officially announced saying that there were talks to bring the same show to Brazil in 2017. "Promoters responded to inquiries saying there's a chance for more shows in other parts of the US and even other countries but denied that there are any specific plans." http://www.tenhomaisdiscosqueamigos.com/2016/05/02/brasil-pode-receber-o-festival-com-paul-mccartney-the-rolling-stones-bob-dylan-e-mais/

You are not right about the Stones. Their most recent 2 night stand was in Mexico City in March and there were 3 songs different between the 2 nights. These shows both featured only 18 songs each, while most recent shows have had 19 per show. When they have had 19 songs per show, then it usually shifts to 4-5 different from night to night. In February, in La Plata, Argentina, there were 5 songs different from night 1 to night 2 and those were 19 song shows. In your own country of Australia, in 2014 they played 2 nights in Perth and there were 5 songs different between each night. Again those were the more normal 19 song sets. I have seen them 36 times and follow every setlist of theirs, so I know what they shift in and out of their setlists. On the Ole tour of February and March this year, they played 36 different songs in just 14 shows, with some shows getting 18 songs and others getting 19.

Fair enough. I stand corrected. Even so most of the songs they interchange have been played many times before. The Stones treat their 60's halcyon years with as much regard as Paul treats his 1970's output. The Stones have basically been playing the same songs on and off on rotation since circa 2003. In their own way, considering their vast catalogue they're as unambitious live as Paul. However some of the late 90's Stones gigs were really interesting. I believe as McCartney's tour progresses, we'll see a few more new (ie) never played live before setlist additions. He might feel compelled to mix up the 2 weekends in the desert (knowing the other acts might) or he might play the exact same songs. Hopefully all being huge names it sticks a competitive rocket up all their arses. This could be the most expensive "battle of the bands" in a long while! Had this event been in 1976, I might have attended.

Or even 1986! I saw the Stones in Albuquerque in 1997 on the Bridges to Babylon Tour and it was fantastic.

The video shows recent video of them all, except for Dylan - hehehe. If only Paul didn't have such a people-pleaser personality he'd pull a Neil Young. 40min version of Check My Machine anyone ?? hehe
More like a 40 min. Hey Jude!
I'd listen to 40 minutes of Hey Diddle.

If Dylan mixes it up, that would be a surprise. He's been playing essentially the same exact set for a couple years now, with only the rarest deviance from it. His just concluded Japan tour featured exactly the same songs in exactly the same order each night. Some spot checking of his tour from last fall shows exactly the same (although one less song was played last fall). Bob's days of mixing it up every night haven't happened in quite awhile...

Hullo Maccaboard! Long time reader, first time poster here who was somehow, by the grace of the mystics, lucky enough to score some DT tix for me and My Love! This is going to be an amazing life experience that will not likely be topped and I'm hoping to go all out and make this trip as overwhelmingly special and important as possible. My hope is for Sir McCartney to marry us. We met each other through music, grew close through a love of Beatles, and have progressed together personally and artistically by the guidance of The Macca. He is her spirit animal, and she is the best thing I've ever known, and I want to be her Mel Evans forever. If anybody has any insight on how one might make this happen, my gratitude and respect is all yours But in any case, we will be there weekend 1 and would really love to meet some fellow Bogey people! We had made it to Fresno in April for the 1on1 kick off, decked in custom made Venus and Mars shirts, and were shocked we couldn't find any other "freaks"! Not until the show was over at least, then we were able to spot those who were too lovestuck to move and had some great conversations with some great people. Thanks for reading, and for a cherry on top, here's my baby's cover of "When I'm 64" that she made for her pop. Hope you enjoy! See yalls soon!!!

You're gonna need a REALLY big sign!!
-
Yeah, that does seem to be the case for most of the lucky couples, but i didnt know if they had pre-arranged invites up to the stage or if Paul had in fact read the sign and yanked them up in an impromptu fashion. I'd love to surprise her if possible. We did make a fun sign for Fresno that we will definitely bring again, it says "Paul Loves Us All" only to fold up and reveal it's true meaning: "B1ll L1ves!" Maybe we could get an invite though the power of being cheeky? I dunno, hopeful vibes and deus ex machina are needed to pull this one off me thinks.

I was there when a couple did this at his last Phoenix concert; they were not pre-invited, they had a sign. I don't know how the decision is made about who gets chosen to be on stage, because there are always a LOT of signs at every show now. But this couple got chosen and brought up. Paul was bemused by it, because he wasn't aware that he was ordained. But he went ahead and did it anyway. There's video on YouTube.
