AMEX presale includes copy of new album!

There is so much to say to all of the false Beach Boys information on this thread that I don't even know where to start...so I won't. Has anyone from any of the first nights at an NYC venue received an email about the CD, and what was your ticket type and means of purchase?

There's none, you just don't agree with it.

I have first and second night tickets for MSG, paid for by Amex, and I have not received the email. Maybe it's because I live in England!

Still nothing here. First night Newark, bought during AmEx presale.

You think they work weekends? Nothing here either.Although I did write them & got a response from ticketmaster: "We got your email! We are currently receiving a higher than normal number of inquiries. We apologize, as our current response time is longer than we would like. We will get back to you as soon as possible; however, please allow up to 72 hours" That's it. Probably the most I will ever hear back from them. It is probably an automated response.

1. There's no such thing as a "familiar face" in the Beach Boys. 2. None of your attempts at math are correct. Technically, there have been nine official Beach Boys in their history. Two of which are dead and two of which were not invited to participate in the reunion tour, per Mike Love's request/demand. Of course, there have been seemingly countless members of the touring band dating back to the late 1960's when the instrumentation on the material was outgrowing the current five man touring lineup. 3. As Turk Thrust pointed out, Mike Love and Bruce Johnston's Beach Boys touring band, regularly visit Europe and typically on quite extensive tours playing some of the most daring setlists that any members of the band have attempted at an officially licensed Beach Boys concert. 4. Nobody "wonders why they're both still going through this". This is Mike Love's life blood. As for Brian Wilson? I think he is prompted through most of it by his wife and managers. Also, they're both highly motivated by cash...especially Mike. 5. It is worth noting in correction to Nancy G's post, that Al Jardine has never toured with the 21st century touring Beach Boys band, outside of the 2012 reunion tour. He toured with his Beach Boys Family and Friends band which sank fast as Mike sued the shit out of it for no good reason. He toured with Brian on and off prior to the reunion, and his been with him ever since. Now...what parts were the ones that I didn't agree with? Maybe I missed it.

You seem very touchy every time I mention the Beach Boys reunion missing two core members. 1) They missed two core members, you can't get around that. Agreed? The classic line-up is Carl, Brian, Dennis, Jardine and Mike Love. You don't have to agree with this, but, Google Image "Beach Boys", 2 out of 5 people you see are dead. And I even consider Bruce Johnston a full member to be honest. Still makes it 2 out of 6. Every familiar promo photo features these 5 or 6 people. That makes them familiar faces. No one thinks about the 2 weeks - watch out, figure of speech again - Blondie Chaplin was officially part of the group. There's a reason only the Wilson brothers/family, Al Jardine and Mike Love own Brother Records, Inc. It's a harmony group now being incomplete. I consider especially Carl Wilson as a member you can't do without to make the group complete. That's my stance. Whenever they sang 'Good Vibrations' or 'God Only Knows' in 2012 you'd think: "ah, damn, he's dead, they're incomplete". You don't have to agree with this. Regardless, as I said, the fact the main composer of most of the classics plus the lead vocalist of many early hits was still there made it worthwhile enough, especially with all loose members being present as well. And again as said, I didn't always think of it like this, but I think it was the best they could do and a dignified farewell. It was hardly Dolenz and Tork performing billed as "The Monkees" these days. 2) There has been no "attempts at maths". 5 core members, 2 dead, 3/5th left, done. None of your attempts at understanding my point have been valid. And to consider the current touring Beach Boys as anything close to the full experience is just fooling yourself. Note, I'm in no camp, I'm not anti-Mike Love. As said, I would still attempt to go to his show now for a few moments (original lead singer(s) playing songs they (co-)wrote), but won't think I've seen "The Beach Boys". It's fantastic the current "Beach Boys" are having daring setlists, but to me it's pointless when for a huge chunk of the setlist you have a band performing songs they had no part in whatsoever. The early surf hits Mike Love sang lead on, that's all fine. Even for example 'Darlin', being played by about 5 (could be 6, you gotta be literal at this place these days...) session members, a spare Beach Boys member and one full Beach Boys member who co-wrote it and maybe sang harmony on, alright. But the harmony vocal tracks like for example 'Surfer Girl' which was written by Brian Wilson with him on lead vocals, and then not having him there? You're watching 1 Beach Boys member who wasn't prominently featured on a song with the rest of a band who plays a note-perfect rendition of a song they had nothing to do with it. That is why I sometimes make a light stab at that. If he would be touring under his own name it would be a totally different story. 3) This is my mistake, I meant "finally to The Netherlands" since I didn't hear of any Mike Love tour near in the past decade at all, and should have been clearer. I also said "finally to me". I heard about the short mostly UK stints and some EU summer festivals (nothing extensive at all at one time, mostly up to one week) in the past decade, but even the 2012 reunion tour was like 10 dates. I was in London when he played the Royal Albert Hall, but wasn't interested. The last time any group named The Beach Boys played here was probably even 1980. 4) A lot of people are wondering why the hell elderly people are still going through all that. For McCartney it's simple, he's amazing at it, he gets a kick out of it and loves the insane amount of cash he can generate through it. For Mike Love it's simple as well, it's what he loves and has done all his life. I wasn't talking about that. I'm talking about doing the mentioned 12 days in a row through (in and out) 8 countries at one point, one day break, 3 days, one day break, 3 days, and then straight into 2 full months of the US again without a break. I was genuinely wondering why they plan it as such, even young acts don't put that much pressure on themselves. He doesn't need it for the money. I wasn't knocking it, respect to him. For Brian Wilson I more wondered why others put him through it. 5) Yes, and? Not sure what this is a reaction on. If Al Jardine would perform solo these days, I would go out to see him, to hear him sing 'Help Me Rhonda', but not for a "Beach Boys & Friends" type of gig. Now... not sure what triggered this reaction, but I hope you didn't miss more of my points and this cleared things up.

This is going nowhere real fast since you seem to have a very fuzzy line between "official Beach Boy" and "core member". Not to mention, you've completely ignored David Marks through this entire fiasco. An irreplaceable part in their first few records as well as the reunion tour. I haven't posed a single reaction to the passing of Carl & Dennis Wilson, so I don't know how I've been touchy in regards to that. It seems to me you're the one that's been touchy around here these days.

Going back to topic now... Getting back to the album offer I bought first night MSG on AMEX with AMEX and did not get an album offer. As I said previously I bought two single tickets in two different transactions on the Paul presale for MSG second night with non AMEX card and received two email offers for CDs.

This whole thing is incredibly confusing. They should've publicized this more from the outset, rather than making it a seemingly random selection of who gets an album offer.

Seems that puppywhimpers is the only person here to have received a specific emailed offer from Amex for the NY area presale only, before the presales happened. Everyone else seems to have received an email offer from Ticketmaster after buying tickets to some of the second shows during those presales, no matter what credit card was used. It is definitely inconsistent and leaves a lot of ticket buyers out. I doubt that the VIP merch will include the CD. "New" cds were not included when that album was released.

Did you buy from ticketmaster.com? If so, you should receive the email; however, when they ask to verify your address it's possible they won't accept anything outside the US, but who knows?!

Sorry, but I can't agree with you on that one as Mike had every right to stop Al from touring. Mike agreed to pay BRI, the group's company, a % from every show that he did for the use of the name and I believe has paid something like $25m since. Al wanted to use the name (with Family and Friends on the end) and didn't want to pay a penny. Not really surprising that everybody voted for Mike to be able to use the name, and nobody else voted for Al. And I say that as a big fan of Al...

I hope that you don't mind me saying, but I think that's a bit of an exaggeration. From a recent 43-song gig that they did, I would say that maybe 8 or 9 songs fall into that category.

You aren't wrong at all. My point was more to highlight how it is such a business to them, so far more than it is about making music...particularly Mike.

It's nice to get a copy of the new album but in my experience before with these things, they don't come on release day and at times are weeks past. So I don't really care so much, I will get mine immediately and figure out what to do with the spares at a later time

I got my tix thru AMEX presale in MIA and didn't receive anything.
