Is the reason of this that they are finally going to do the sensible thing and make the upcoming album a good seller through this? Or is a tie-sale automatically not eligible for the charts? As far as I know a similar tour practice ("buy 10 copies, get the 10th one signed") got The (3/4) Beach Boys to #1 at last in 2012.
What is the 3/4 Beach Boys? This was their reunion tour/album with all five living members, and it got the record to #3 not #1. I'm not really sure why this worked so well...who wants ten copies of a CD. Plus, The Beach Boys will sign anything if you're polite and wait for the right time...lightyears easier than getting Paul's autograph. Anyway...is this an AMEX thing, or a VIP thing? Has anyone received an email that did NOT buy any sort of VIP package? Fron Row, Second Row, Sound Check, Gold etc...
I meant "a quarter" (was just a figure of speech, 2/5th) of the core members of the classic line-up missed, as you know. (I thought in the end it was still a very worthwhile reunion and perfect farewell, mind.) And to get the signatures of all members at the big venues they did would be a hard plan to execute, especially with Brian Wilson who's being wheeled in and out the venue, and them wanting to keep their champagne package "meet and greet" aka "stand behind the members for a photo moment" cash cow a bit exclusive. Ah, then it was "highest charting album in 4 decades" or something, I was mistaken and thought it was the first time they hit #1. Either way it was a big unexpected chart success, and I don't even know if that deal helped towards that. In my opinion it was a decent deal. Those other 9 CD's would be easily to get rid of, if the price was 100 bucks you can give away a few and sell the rest and you will have a few nice presents and a signed copy for maybe 30-40 dollar, not bad. Anyway, each ticket holder to these gigs should get an album, would be even more efficient than the Sunday Times deal for 'Memory Almost Full'.

So it seems that no matter how you paid or how much you paid, as long as it was the second show, you get the CD. That's a bunch of bull.

No, The Beach Boys got to number 3 because they sold loads of albums while promoting on QVC.

I'm still confused. You saw 75% of The Beach Boys you mean? 3/4, i.e. 3 out of the 4 original members? Or what? ("a quarter" is 1/4) P.S. I agree, everyone who bought a ticket since the shows first went on sale should get an album!

Hot Dawg, his new album is completed and ready to roll ! (and rock)

Are we to assume that Brazilian fans will also be sent the album?

Like said, it was figure of speech. I didn't exactly count the original members vs. dead members and went for a quick "1/4 Beach Boys", later looked it up and said "2/5th". My point was you can't do a true band reunion when 2 out of 5 familiar faces, lead singers, harmony members, instrumentalist and co-writers are dead. But also like said, I think it was a worthy ending after all, you couldn't get more closer to The Beach Boys in 2012 than what they did, especially with adding all loose members as well. And if you wanna know, I saw 3 ... out of 5, but not on the same stage. Mike Love only while playing tambourine or whatever on 'Cosmically Conscious' . His Faux Beach Boys - do I have to explain this one as well hehe...? - are finally coming to Europe and are playing fair parades and small theatres. Meanwhile, Brian Wilson is touring the latest run of 'Pet Sounds' for a full year now - also comes to Europe, 100+ euro tickets - across all continents - it can be done - and with another year planned he's bored and begins to change the material up a bit...

Both Mike Love and Brian Wilson have great bands that do the music full justice. I'm not sure about Mike "finally" coming to Europe. He tours everywhere all the time and I believe this is The Beach Boys 31st European tour!

There is no telling if anyone else outside the US will be offered the album. The email came two days after I made my purchase. The notice which was on AMEX which I've seen as somebody posted a screenshot of it on Facebook said that you could order the album up until October 2. I do 't think its ready to go. The email said you'd receive it (after registering) once it is released.

Haha, finally to me! In 2012 they skipped The Netherlands (and I saw Blur in England in a small venue on the day The 3/5 Beach Boys played Belgium), and the last gig before that time must have been with Carl still present somewhere in the 90's? Mike Love got a crazy scheme as well now, in June alone 24 gigs throughout the whole of Europe including Slovakia and Czechia, at one point even 12 days in a row. Caught the Pet Sounds tour 2016 edition early on at Byron Bay, I believe the second gig. I have good seats for the upcoming gigs in Europe, on the fence about whether to go or not since the concert in Australia was perfect and he's now talking his way through a part of the material. For both of them you wonder why they're still going through this all. Which brings me back to McCartney ;).

Mike just loves playing live and you should really enjoy the show if you watch him. His energy (like Macca's) is phenomenal for his age. Plus, great set lists in Europe.

I would go for 'Disney Girls' by Bruce Johnston alone. I might make it to Dusseldorf.

Don't hesitate to go. There will be lots of deep cuts from Today, Pet Sounds, Wild Honey, Surf's Up, Holland etc. Great songs, excellently played. You can't go wrong.

Don't get bent out of shape, I just wondered who you saw. I saw (and met all of them except Brian) all of them in 1978 (Brian, Dennis, Carl, Mike, Al and Bruce), then saw Mike in 2005 and again in 2014 (at AROTR that time) but I can't recall if Al and/or Bruce were with him either time. Just Bruce in 2014 I think. And I know that Brian tours separately now and how Mike sued Brian...etc, etc.

There is so much to say to all of the false Beach Boys information on this thread that I don't even know where to start...so I won't. Has anyone from any of the first nights at an NYC venue received an email about the CD, and what was your ticket type and means of purchase?

I have first and second night tickets for MSG, paid for by Amex, and I have not received the email. Maybe it's because I live in England!

Still nothing here. First night Newark, bought during AmEx presale.

You think they work weekends? Nothing here either.Although I did write them & got a response from ticketmaster: "We got your email! We are currently receiving a higher than normal number of inquiries. We apologize, as our current response time is longer than we would like. We will get back to you as soon as possible; however, please allow up to 72 hours" That's it. Probably the most I will ever hear back from them. It is probably an automated response.

1. There's no such thing as a "familiar face" in the Beach Boys. 2. None of your attempts at math are correct. Technically, there have been nine official Beach Boys in their history. Two of which are dead and two of which were not invited to participate in the reunion tour, per Mike Love's request/demand. Of course, there have been seemingly countless members of the touring band dating back to the late 1960's when the instrumentation on the material was outgrowing the current five man touring lineup. 3. As Turk Thrust pointed out, Mike Love and Bruce Johnston's Beach Boys touring band, regularly visit Europe and typically on quite extensive tours playing some of the most daring setlists that any members of the band have attempted at an officially licensed Beach Boys concert. 4. Nobody "wonders why they're both still going through this". This is Mike Love's life blood. As for Brian Wilson? I think he is prompted through most of it by his wife and managers. Also, they're both highly motivated by cash...especially Mike. 5. It is worth noting in correction to Nancy G's post, that Al Jardine has never toured with the 21st century touring Beach Boys band, outside of the 2012 reunion tour. He toured with his Beach Boys Family and Friends band which sank fast as Mike sued the shit out of it for no good reason. He toured with Brian on and off prior to the reunion, and his been with him ever since. Now...what parts were the ones that I didn't agree with? Maybe I missed it.
