Now that Paul will perform at one of the Coronavirus Benefit Concerts, this begs the question:
1st Question...What song or two do you "predict"Paul will perform?
2nd Question...What song or two do you "hope" that Paul performs?
My quick answers without thinking too much...
Predicted songs?
1. Blackbird (he has performed Blackbird many times so it would be easy for Paul to do)
2. Yesterday (same as above)
3. Dance Toniight (again Paul has done this one many times so it would be easy for him)
Songs you "hope" Paul may perform
1. Hope for the Future (maybe has the best lyrics for this Pandemic)
2. Hope of Deliverance (another "hope" song that Paul has performed at least with his Band)
3. Calico Skies (another great acoustical song that Paul used to perform on his tours)
What do You think? Maybe someone could start a "vote/poll" thing for these 2 questions!
Since he is playing from his home, will probably make this simple and play something with acoustic giutar. I would love him to do "Little Willow" or "Too Much Rain" and after one of them do "Happy With You". What will he do, some Beatle song that he has done a million times.

Yesterday would be too depressing, plus he isn't even doing it in concert anymore. I will puke if he does Hey Jude. He needs to do a song that is always done with just an acoustic guitar, though. Or one that would be okay acoustically. Hope of Deliverance, Hope for the Future would be good. If he's at the piano, Let It Be would be good.
He'll be playing and singing alone I would imagine, so don't see him doing Getting Better. Doubt he'd do a song as a joke either like I Want To Hold Your Hand!
This will be interesting to see what he does!

Love your choices. I would love "Little Willow" and/or "Too Much Rain"...2 great Solo Macca songs that people on the whole just don't know. If Paul had written them as a Beatle, they would be universal known songs. I hadn't thought about "Happy With You" but it is also another possible choice that's a real recent song. Unfortunately, I think Paul will do something in his comfort zone. I would guess either Blackbird or if he has a piano, Let It Be.

Hey Nancy...I agree with you that he wouldn't do a kind of "joke" song to the Pandemic like "I Want to Hold Your Hand" or "Eat a Home". I could see him doing "Hope of Deliverance" since he has done the song a number of times in the past and the lyrics would work well. I would prefer him doing Hope of Deliverance way more than Blackbird or Let It Be but I think it would be a longshot at best. He can do Blackbird and Let It Be in his sleep so that's where I think he'll go. Love Yankeefan's choices...Little Willow or Too Much Rain. I thought of Calico Skies which would ge another great choice. O'h well we can dream but I don't think it will happen. Anyway, I just hope Paul does a good job whatever he does.

I agree with you, it will be something in the comfort zone and will be shocked if it is something different. I thought my first two choices were beautiful songs that are perfect in an acoustic like setting. "Happy With You" is more uptempo and uplifting and woud be cool if he sang it with his wife present in the room and listening.

Just got out of my shower listening to Spotify's "This is Paul McCartney". I heard two Solo songs that would be great for this upcoming Concert. One has alrready been given by Yankeefan...LIttle Willow. Paul, please get the Flaming Pie Remaster Archive Release out soon. I can't wait for the remaster and extra songs.
The other song that I hadn't thought of and would be relatively simple acoustically is "One of These Days" from McCartney 2. The lyrics work pretty well for this Pandemic. What do you guys think? One of my favorites (and last song on Mac 2).

"One Of These Days" would be a perfect fit also IMO, beautiful song.

It's Easter Sunday and I have been listening to some of the Easter services/messages (Pope Frances, Franklin Graham etc) on TV. If there is one "word" that stands out with all these Easter messages (as well as the general messages about this horrible "world" virus) it is HOPE.
With the "single" word HOPE standing out, I wonder if Paul is hearing the same "hope" message constantly in his mind. This being said, I wonder if Paul will consider either "Hope for the Future" or "Hope of Deliverance" as one of his chosen songs for Saturday's (4/18) Concert. I would be thrilled with either choice.

Happy Easter BJ !! It feels really strange not going to Mass on Easter Sunday. Last night my wife and I were thinking back on our favorite churches we attended Easter Mass at over the years since we have often been away from home on the holiday. We decided our two favorites were St. Patrick's Cathedral in NYC and St. John The Baptist church in Dublin Ireland. The time we attended Easter Mass in Dublin, our daughters went to Mass at Notre Dame in Paris which they told us was awesome !! It was a bit eery for them because Notre Dame was surrounded by SWAT team due to the recent at that time terror attack in Paris. It was so cool to meet up with them in London later that day to enjoy Easter dinner.
I would think "Hope Of Deliverance" would be easier song for him to do at this type of setting and it would be a good choice . Of course, I like my choices that I made earlier in this thread but that is not going to happen (lol). In the end, I just hope he does a good job on any song he chooses.

Sorry fans, but you just know he will sing Hey Jude with Elton, Billie, and the rest. That is almost a given. Since he probably has only a setlist of four or five songs, he is going to play songs people know. My guess is a setlist of Hey Jude, Jet, Yesterday, Love Me Do, and Band On The Run.

He should totally do Home Tonight but say "I'm staying at home tonight!" Not that it'll happen but it'll be so funny, looking forward to this show

We all know he is not going to do the songs we mentioned, it is just a fantasy like some of us wishing for more solo songs on his set list for the last 20 years. He will do songs like you mentioned but considering the circumstances, I could see him doing "Let It Be" instead of "Hey Jude".

I agree that if he does one of the "hope" songs it would probably be "Hope of Deliverance" since it is more of a "mid'tempo" type song. I remember the first time he did "Hope of Deliverance" on one of his tours. I think it was in Mexico or South America and the crowd went crazy. But like Yankeefan says, I could see him doing "Hope of Deliverance" over "Hope for the Future".

I like the way you are thinking Wingsoverkc. If he is truly Solo in this performance, however, I would see him only doing 1 or 2 songs at the most. It's now less than a week so we will see fairly soon.

I have said it before but it is my belief that audiences outside the US are more willing to give McCartney's solo music a chance in concert. I don't believe you will find youtube clip of McCartney doing "Hope Of Deliverance" in the US and the crowd going crazy -lol.

With the amount of artists listed for the show, he will do at most two songs IMO. I can see him doing one song by himself and then maybe "Let It Be" with other artists joining him at the end of the song. Like you said, we will see soon.
-
None of us will know until this Saturday night, but I agree with Yankeefan that if Paul is part of the "closing" song it will most probably be "Let It Be" with Paul starting it off and other artists joining in. The other earlier Paul performance will probably be Blackbird with Paul playing solo wiht just his guitar. He has done both songs so many times so it makes the most sense. I would love for us to be totally shocked with a "surprise"type song he has rarely done but I don't see it happening. We can only hope.
-
No matter what he chooses to play, it will be great to see Paul again after being out of the public eye the past month or so...
-
Its a 2 hour gig with tons of people. At most he will do 2 songs. An acoustinc number, and maybe they close the show with everybody singing Hey Jude.
