Susy...Yankeefan and I were just discussing what Paul is going to do musically with all of his "free" time now that the entire tour has been cancelled. At Paul's age, we were just thinking that Paul's next album could be his last. I'm surely hoping that isn't the case but it is a possibility.
In the real short term, I'm hoping the Archive/Remaster of Flaming Pie is just around the corner. So many great songs on FP and I for one am looking forward to the extra songs or alternated versions on this package. The last I heard, it is due for release in July. Hope that this is not just a rumour and we will get a tracklisting for the Archive release very soon.
Just curious if anyone thinks that Covid19 might hold up the release of the Flaming Pie Archive Release. I don't really know one way or the other.

With 50 years behind him as a solo artist, and a deep catalogue that's filled with an embrassment of riches, this is an almost impossible task - but I'll try! Haha. I'm compiling this list imagining that I'm recommending solo Paul songs to someone who's completely unfamiliar with his Post Beatles work, while also trying to give them a career overview:
1. Maybe I'm Amazed
2. Band on the Run
3. Daytime Nighttime Suffering
4. Tug of War
5. Wanderlust
6. My Brave Face
7. The Lovers that Never Were
8. Calico Skies
9. Too Much Rain
10. The End of the End
And here's an alternate list for fun:

Love both lists Anthony. What a great B-side you picked...Daytime Nightime Suffering and "Don't Let It Bring You Down" is such a "hidden gem" on London Town. I also love "The Lovers That Never Were" especially the Paul/Elvis demo version. And I love your choices from great albums like Tug of War, Flowers in the Dirt, Flaming Pie, Chaos and Memory Almost Full.
Hope the family is doing well. I guess it is tough getting gigs right now but I hope I'm wrong.

That may be true but he is in the writing process of doing the music for a major musical and that takes plenty of time. It is totally different to write music/lyrics to advance and tell a story for a major West End/Broadway production.

Its not going to help that's for sure. With pressing plants presumably closed and with record stores closed they might decide to delay the release until they are open again.

Well, duh, his new score for "It's a Wonderful Life" will be Paul McCartney songs too, you know. I included those in his probably writing a bunch of new songs during lockdown. I'm looking forward to his work for this play, being a longtime classic cinema buff. And of course that old classic movie is one of my favorites. It'll be interesting what he comes up with, for this project.

What I meant, too, is that maybe some "stand alone" classic hits will result from Paul's "It's a Wonderful Life" musical, like "Memories" did from "Cats," for example, and "I Don't Know How to Love Him" and a couple others maybe from "J.C. Superstar" and there are many other examples not from Andrew Lloyd Webber ones

Thanks BJ, there are just so many great songs to choose from, it's really remarkable. He's been so prolific and has produced (for the most part) such quality material, that I would even find doing a top ten list of songs from each decade of his career to be difficult.
Likewise, hope you and yours are doing well! Yeah, all of my live gigs have been postponed until further notice, but luckily I've picked up some recording work that I've been able to do from my home studio.

Great list Thrillington. "This Never Happened Before" is another underrated song from Chaos and Creation and wasn't on many of the earlier lists in this thread. I love, love Dominoes on Egypt Station. Dominoes is another ES song that literally got no radio airplay which is criminal imho.

I really think that if Paul had written "Dominoes"in the 70's, it could have been a Top 10 Billboard Song lets say in 1979 as Wings' lead single for "Back to the Egg". It is that good imho. I realize that Paul is no longer a Top 40 Artist and that Top 40 itself has changed considerably but I'm just saying that "Dominoes" might have been a "hit" when Paul was so dominant in the 70's. It has a Band on the Run type sound to me.
I mentioned that I never heard "Dominoes" played on the radio when ES was released but it did make me feel good that "Panera Bread" had it on their "Restaurant Playlist." My wife is a big fan of Panera so when ES first came out, I heard it several times as I was getting breakfast or lunch there and it sounded great.

You had me laughing Wingsoverkc. You are the consummate Paul/Wings fan. "Bip Bop" had me laughing right from the start.
Love many of your "deeper" Paul songs like London Town, So Glad to See You Here, She's Given Up Talking, Happy With You, Dominoes, Beware My Love, Getting Closer, See Your Sunshine (one of Paul's best hidden gems on MAF), Looking At Her, and Give Ireland Back to the Irish. I know you put "Fuh You"on your list just for me. Great list and it's never too late for you to join the party. And you're right...Silly Love Songs should be on most lists for Paul's Best 10 Post Beatles.

Like BJ, I had to laugh when I saw "Bip Bop" on your list. IMO this is close to one of the worst songs McCartney has every done. As for the others, it is your opinion and there is no right or wrong.

You all know I was going to place Bip Bop and Fuh You on my list. Partly to get a rise from this group, but mostly because I really love those songs. Lately I have been listening to several bootleg tapes of Wings 1972 tour, and the audience really sounds like it digs Bip Bop, and the live performances of the song kind of rock. Also need to add a few more songs to my Honorable Mention list: Stranglehold, However Absurd, Dance Tonight, Figure of 8, She's My Baby, That Day Is Done, Once Upon A Long Ago, Water Spout.

Hey Susy...Good call. I remember hearing "Put It there" a couple of times in restaurants, malls etc. Just curious if you've heard Anthony B.'s version of Put It There with his brother and Father. Just scroll up on this thread/page where you see Anthony's Lists of Paul's best songs. On the bottom of his post he has a youtube video of his family's version of Put It There. Great harmonies.

Hey Wingsoverkc...you bring up a great point about those early shows when Paul and Linda were just starting out with a new band in 1972.
I can only imagine being at one of those very early McCartney unannounced"University" shows when Paul was just starting out with his new band Wings. Yankeefan and I have mentioned here how much we love songs like "The Mess", "Soily", "Best Friend"and "Give Ireland Back to the Irish". I really liked the double CD from Target for the 2018 Red Rose Speedway Archive Edition. The Target special was only like $20. The 2nd CD had a lot of great obscure songs like The Mess, Best Friend, Night Out, I Lie Around, Country Dreamer, Mama's Little Girl and one of my favorite Denny Laine songs...I Would Only Smile. Henry McCullough (RIP Henry) was a very talented blues guitarist on many of those songs including the famous solo on My Love.
Thanks for your additional "honorable mentions". I really like "Stranglehold" as the opening track on Press to Play. I have to say that my favorite Press to Play track by far is Footprints. Talk about a "hidden gem". "She's My Baby" is another gem on Speed of Sound. It had to grow on me but now I love it. Finally, Waterspout is one of Paul's best unreleased songs from the London Town sessions. And how about "Yvonne" from the same Press to Play sessions. This is why McCartney needs an updated Compilation/Anthology. He has so many great songs not on previous Compilations and songs that many McCartney fans don't even know. Anyway, maybe in a few years.
