Oh dear, London (and surrounding areas) is being placed into tier 3 on Wednesday which means all non-essential shops are closing. So any Macca fans thinking they were going to walk into HMV (other media shops are available or at least were) on Friday or the weekend to buy McCartney lll....sorry, you're going to be out of luck.

Just been reading the Tier 3 restrictions and it seems that non-essential shops can stay open (unlike during lockdown) so panic over, fans can go out and buy McCartney lll on the day of release after all. Phew.
I have been reading today that supermarket chain Morrisons have been selling the new album today, well ahead of Friday's official release date, so that's quite unusual.

i saw this pic on twitter and i'd like to share with you

it seems that there was a confusion on the dates and the supermarket forgot that the album was postponed and started selling. This happened in the USA

From the picture on the front cover of album, it seems if they would have had a single it would have been "Find My Way" since they mention it as a "featured" song.

What I find very interesting are the "credits" on this page and apparently will be in the booklet that accompanies McCarteny 3. The 2 exception tracks where there are more people listed in the credits are:
Track 7 Slidin - Greg Kurstin, Alex Pasco, Rusty Anderson, and Abe Laboriel Jr. are also listed as contributors
Track 11 Winter Bird/When Winter Comes - George Martin and Bob Kraushaar as contributors
Until I saw this list of credits, these 2 specific tracks and their "additonal" contributors on top of Paul McCartney himself has been highly underpublicized from what I have seen.

In the USA? Where??

My remarks on the above "credits' list for McCartney 3 (posted by Andrew Barros) didn't go through. What I found very interesting are the 2 exception "tracklisting credits" list. They are:
Track 7 "Slidin"- On top of Paul McCartney himself, additonal contributors include Greg Kurstin, Alex Pasco, Rusty Anderson, and Abe Laboriel.
Track 11 "Winter Bird/When Winter Comes"- On top of Paul McCartney himself, additional contriburors include George Martin and Bob Kraushaar
From everything I've seen with all the publicity surrouning McCartney 3, these 2 specific tracks and the "additional" contributors applying to them has been extremely underpublicized. Maybe I'm wrong since I haven't seen all the pre-release material but again as a big Paul fan I find it very interesting.

Rusty di an interview recently & said something about being on the album. And as for George Martin, that is from the old part of that song probably.

Thanks Oobu. Yes I was aware that the genesis of the song Winter Bird/When Winter Comes originated from the very early Flaming Pie sessions where Paul was working with George Martin on Flaming Pie songs like Calico Skies and Great Day. As we know, "When Winter Comes" never materialized on FP but Paul liked it well enough to use it as "cornerstones" for his new McCartney 3 album. Until Andrew Barros posted the "album notes" here on Maccaboard (probably it will be part of the booklet that accompanies the McCartney 3 CD) I never saw a "true or finished" tracklisting and additional album "notes" for the new album. That is where we see that George Martin (and Bob Kraushaar too) are specifically listed as "contributors" for this last track (Track 11).
McCartney 3 has always been publicized as "Instruments and Voices" by Paul McCartney and Produced and Composed by Paul McCartney. This last track Winter Bird/When Winter Comes as well as Track 7 "Slidin" are the 2 exceptions here where additional musicians were involved... with George Martin/Bob Kraushaar from the Production side and I guess Rusty and Abe from the Instruments side on Track 7. As a fan, this doesn't bother me since McCartney 3 by and large is mostly "Solo" Paul from a creation point of view. If these extra touches/people improve the individual songs and and make the whole album better, it doesn't bother me in the least. But Paul is right, the individuals in these cases should get credit.

The reviews for McCartney 3 are now arriving fast and furious. Just saw 3 new reviews from NME, Stereogum and the Chicago Tribune (Scott Bauer). All are positive on the whole. Maybe someone who is better technologically than me can post them. I just google "McCartney 3 Reviews" and they pop up.

See below BJ.
This review IMO is very mediocre at best. Critic kind of likes it but clearly does not love it.

This IMO is pretty much a rave and makes me really want to hear "Slidn" and "The Kiss Of Venus"
Very positive review. I like the joke that "Lavatory Lil" came in through the bathroom window -lol. Critic says "Seize The Day" is very Beatles -esque which is not a bad thing. Just like I imagined, critic said "Deep Deep Feeling" needed a deep deep edit - ha ha. Like every other review, critic loves the opener "Winter Bird/When Winter Comes".

Thanks Yankeefan. All of those reviews were pretty positive. McCartney 3 is certainly getting a lot of buzz.

Yep, the big question is will it help sales. Will probably enter the charts with a bang but the key will be how long will it stay there. Hard to promote album without being able to go out on tour or do TV shows. McCartney at this stage in his career will not sell huge amounts but I hope it does fairly well. I am glad for the critical success, once again IMO it validates his solo career songwriting.

Perhaps they'll be promoting that track to radio once the album is out. Just because they didn't do an advance single doesn't mean they won't promote a track or two.

As I've pointed out on Steve Hoffman's forum but maybe not here, albums by geezer acts never have a long chart run. If the advance publicity is good, established fans go out and buy the album, producing a healthy first week or two. But two things sustain album sales over the long run: Social media buzz, which is mainly a youth thing and not something that fans of McCartney, Dylan, Springsteen, etc., generate much of, and radio play -- and the only radio formats that play the old guys have limited reach. This is just how it is. However well McCartney III does in December, it will have dropped off the charts, at least in the U.S., by March.

Paul is on The Tonight Show w/Jimmy Fallon on Thurs. the 17th (presumably on Zoom)
And then the Howard Stern Sirius XM radio interview hopefully promoted the album.
