McCartney 3?

I had seen that video when it was first on, but nice to see again - Jimmy Fallon cracks me up!
I agree though, that the song should have ended sooner, before the "Yes I will" nonsense!
-
They probably needed to make the song longer to fill time before they broke for a commercial.

Better still, he should have ended it before he started it !!

Thanks so much Yankeefan for posting the "Come On To Me" video with Paul/Band performing the song on Jimmy Fallon's Tonight Show. I thought the perfomance was outstanding. Paul's vocals were great and Fallon was hillarious at the end.
I never thought that "Come On To Me" was the best song on Egypt Station but I always liked the song better after seeing it done live. Liked all the extra vocals that Paul put into the live performance and of course watching Abe on the Drums.
Hopefully Paul and his Band will do 5 or 6 McCartney 3 songs on the next tour.

I've been away from this thread for a few days, but I must say I'm surprised to see people insisting that Capitol must release a physical single to promote album sales. That's like saying Ford just has to release another Model T to revive its car sales. Physical singles barely exist any more. No one except record collectors cares about them. Tracks promoted to radio and video have some value if people hear the music and like it, but the existence of said tracks on a physical format is simply irrelevant to the promotional value.
Capitol is promoting Find My Way to radio in the U.S. and has a banner ad right now on the AllAccess.com industry site. The track is presently at no. 46 on the Triple A format chart and still inching upward, but does not seem to be registering on any other format. And Paul's videos don't anywhere near the traction of more current artists like Ariana Grande, Drake, etc. That's largely because the young'uns who listen to them are constantly sharing the videos on social media, which is just not a big thing for Paul's generation. Nothing about having a physical single would change any of that.
Sorry, folks, that's life. And now, to really p*** people off, I gotta say I think McCartney III is Paul's least interesting album since Off the Ground. It has its moments, but I'm already back to listening to Egypt Station more.

The song was recorded with the "Yes I will, yes I will" and continues on too long.
Paul kept going even after all that so Jimmy could sing along.

I know it was recorded with it. But then he did more with Jimmy.

Bruce, Thanks for your imput on Capitol Records and the "Singles" market. Living in the Tampa Florida market I was very loosely checking the FM radio channels (Top 40 and rock channels) and I hadn't heard "Find My Way" or any McCartney 3 song for that matter. I was just assuming that the problem was strictly with Capitol not releasing any physical single like they did with "Come On To Me". You answered my question. I was never concerned about
sales" of the actual singles themselves. I was and am still only concerned with the lack of radio airplay to the very large "younger" demographic. At least I now know that "Find My Way" is making some progress albeit #46 on the Triple A Format Chart. I have to assume that Capitol knows what they're doing. Hopefully other McCartney 3 songs (especially "Sliding") will make their way on other formats. As we have always said, music is subjective so I respect your opinion on McCartney 3. Conversely, I have grown to love the album especially for its variety. Besides loving Find My Way, Pretty Boys, Husbands and Wives, Kiss of Venus, and Seize the Day, I absolutely love Slidin as a heavier rock song. The opening and closing tracks in my opinion are also very good and the lyrics in general are smart and tie together nicely. Even the more "jam" like songs have grown with me upon repeated listens. Hope you will enjoy McCartney 3 more as time goes by.

There you go! Love that suggestion. Had he never started it, it would have been the perfect length!!!

I can't argue with that.

FWIW, All Access, which updates its airplay charts daily, now shows Find My Way at no. 45 on Triple A. That's still very far from the performance of Come On To Me, which cracked the top 10 of both Triple A and Adult Contemporary.
As for opinions on the album, tastes vary. I find it all fairly blah, even the better songs. My two favorites, Women and Wives and Seize the Day, both feel to me like solid near-misses, needing just a bit more in the arrangement to be truly magical. I'm more convinced than ever that Paul needs a producer.

Really don't think anybody is going to be ticked off that you don't like "McCartney III". We are all adults and can handle people with different opinions. I think most people on the board like the album and to each their own.

Just read a wonderful McCartney 3 review by a guy whose name is Jame Beaty and the newspaper is from McAlister OK.
It was a very complete review covering all the tracks. He ended his piece saying that McCartney 3 felt like a complete album coming full circle especially with the opening and closing songs.
The only song he didn't particularly like is "Deep Deep Feeling". I understand that since initially it was my least favorite. It was too long but I have to say it did grow with me after a few listens. It took me a little while but I ended up liking the music side of the track.
But he really liked all the other songs and as he said, "McCartney 3 felt like a complete album and not just a collection of songs." I pretty much feel the same way about McCartney 3. I also like the production. It has a distinctive stripped down feel pretty much the same as McCartney 1.

Pleased to see that there are many very good reviews and quite a few of them have gone into detail about the album which is nice. BTW - The "Take It Away" podcasts will contine and the next one will be in February. It seems this will be a "memorial" for Ryan and hopefully also discuss "McCartney III". Per Chris, Ryan did a bunch of stuff for these podcasts that they are trying to figure out how to do and it takes a little time. I have become a member of the "Take It Away" group on FB.

Thanks for the update Yankeefan on "Take It Away". I'll be sure to listen to the Podcase in February.
This morning I did my normal routine of listening to McCartney 3 basiclally using the Yoitube clips. I still love the album but I'm a little surprised that even among fans our ages, it doesn't seem to be a home run with many. That being said, McCartney 3 surely isn't getting enough traction with commercial radio and the young demographic. At least you and I are liking it a lot and that is the most important thing. I liked what the reviewer said this morning (this was just published yesterday) that McCartney 3 felt like an "album" and not just a collection of songs. He really liked almost all the songs.

Hey Yankeefan...
I found a website called Genius.com which I really like. It really went into McCartney 3 and each and every track. I went though all the songs and I particularly liked the detail on "Slidin" where Paul said it originated during a Soundtrack in Dusseldorf Germany during the Egypt Station sessions.
That is why on Slidin (track 7) Rusty and Abe played on the track and Greg Kurstin is credited as a co producer. The Genius Site went into how "Slidin" developed and even to the lytics on the track. Paul wasn't quite satisfied with "Slidin" so it never appear on the proper album but he liked the riff well enough to come back to it while making McCartney 3.

There are very few albums most people on this board agree with so some not liking "McCartney III" as much as us is not big deal. The only albums I can think off the top of my head that everybody seems to universally think were excellent albums were "BOTR" and "CHAOS". Even before this album was released, I did not think it would be one of those that this board would automatically love because it was kind of a "home made" album and not something very polished. In the beginning, I was just hoping for 5 or 6 good songs and nothing totally awful and album beat my expectations. I have come to grips that it will not be big hit commercially after good first week. My new hope is that it gets some Grammy nominations next year, not even expecting a win -lol.

Yankeefan...I just googled McCartney 3 Lyrics and Tracklist Genius.com. It should pop up first. Then you can click on each song on McCartney 3.

Yankeefan...Like you, I'm pretty resigned to the fact that McCartney 3 isn't going to be a "commercial big hit". Maybe he can get a couple of Grammy nominations that could put it back relatively in the limelight. As you have said, McCartney 3 was certainly deemed a "critical" success from all the positive reviews it recieved and that is good enough for me. Besides that, I like it a lot personally as an album.
