Wings was mentioned once in this article.
Paul might have looked in here now and then, probably still does at times, because it's his official website. He may have got on the puter more often during lockdown. A bit more often. This message board did seem more interesting when a lot more people were participating and posting.
What I took away from this piece is that he's writing songs, and not only for the musical ! He sounds like he's pretty deep into his songwriting !

Suzy, I will just say for me there is really not much to post about anymore on this site. I know I have beaten a few subjects to death on this board (Setlist, Solo career recognition etc) and to continue to post about it will not change a thing. I really have little desire to post or read about his Beatle career, been there done that -lol. The few times I will post will be if there is a thread about something current like Ringo's 80th birthday or this recent GQ article. Finally, without a McCartney tour, new record or some other news IMO this board will have limited activity.

The song "Let 'Em In" from "Wings at the Speed of Sound" is mentioned, what if it had been on a Beatles album, and there's a sentence about Linda with "Wings" in it and then the "Helen Wheels" name for his car. This isn't much. The interviewer could have asked him things about his "follow up" band "Wings," especially since in this writer's view Paul became "much more famous" in the years following the Beatles than in the "seven years with the Beatles." I found that kind of a baffling perspective. They seem to have been the most famous guys on the planet during Beatlemania especially.
Paul looks good in these pix. He looks to me like he's "got his creative" on; he appears immersed in his own "new song writing " world, which I loved to see. The magic's still flowing through him.

Oh--I wrote my last post on this thread before I saw this. Yeah, it makes sense when there's new stuff going on these forums will stir up more enthusiasm and interest. He does have news from him fairly often. I can go without a lot of news knowing he's holed up in his posh digs there writing new songs presently. His gift hasn't deserted him, he hasn't dried up song writing wise like Billy Joel for example says he has. Weren't you stoked when he dropped several hints in this article that he's writing new songs?

Everybody, it was this article (which doesn't look like it's available anymore) that had the backwards photo of Paul playing righty guitar.
I think I've spotted a thumb nail version of the photo, all links to which are now broken. It has Paul almost laying down on a garden seat holding the guitar the wrong way.
No, the photo was definitely printed backwards. His hair and suit coat were wrong, and the guitar was not a lefty held righty! I'm thinking it may have been the Gibson Les Paul.
ETA: I clicked on the link and was briefly able to see the photo - it WAS the gold Gibson Les Paul that Linda got him. And he was actually playing a chord, so I would bet anything it was printed backwards.

Yes, I am thrilled he is still writing music and he has been amazing the last 25 years. I was over him touring for years and I really looked forward to each new album. It looks like we will get at least one more album from him and then we will hopefully get to hear his music for "It's A Wonderful Life". IMO McCartney does not get the credit he truly deserves for being such a prolific songwriter into his late 70's. As much as I liked Billy Joel, that was very disappointing when he said basically he was dead creatively.

B.B. King and Leonard Cohen, to name just two, each came out with several highly lauded albums in their early and mid 80's. Their talents had only grown after being practiced and honed for many decades, and they had developed in insight and wisdom. While still retaining a great deal of their youthfulness. They went out on the road touring behind those minor masterpieces. In support of their late in life hit albums.( B.B. sat down while performing, but he was still up there on stage. ) I think Dylan and Paul Mc., among others, will follow suit. Also, don't forget one's chronological age can differ greatly from how old one is in one's mind. You can go right on feeling and thinking, or thinking, at least, like you're still age 28 or so, in your mind. (While not being up on and hip to the latest millenial slang and fads, of course.) Macca's in good shape physically (as well as mentally) since he's been a veggie all these years, and he rides bikes, etc. Works out in gyms and does yoga. He's stated he's laid off the sauce, ciggies and other chemical drugs, even organic marijuana, for a long time, now. He said he wanted to be a good example to his grandkids. I feel optimistic we'll still have him around in the future.

First I'd like to say that Mary's photos were wonderful. Next to Linda, her photos of Paul always bring out the best of Paul. I really enjoyed all the photos and getting a peek at Paul's place. It's as just as nice as you knew it would be. And to round out the family, there he was in Stella's clothes... the family Range Rover.
A great interview too! Really enjoyed it and not the usual questions we all know... instead some decent and interesting questions. Well done piece!

Cohen did not tour in his 80s. He stopped touring for good shortly after his 79th birthday in 2013.

You have to scroll back and read this thread. Jimmix posted a link where there was a pic of Paul laying across a bench with his Gibson Les Paul, but it was printed backwards. The article and photo can no longer be accessed for some reason. The photo (and the one I posted) are old and have nothing to do with the current GQ photoshoot.
