Wix...how did the "drink it in" bit go?
OH! Yeah we got signs...tiggy helped me out with that! He didn't really say anything or point but he did sort of freeze up when he looked down at the front...anyone else notice that? Honestly, it didn't go over as well as I thought it would.
What did your sign say?

Yup, quite an emotional show for me. He knocked my socks off with "And I Love Her" -- my wife and I immediately started dancing. The performance was incredible. It is by far the largest event I've ever been too -- save football games. I don't know what the actual attendance, but I've never seen a stadium so packed, especially with showers coming down. I dreamed about the concert all night. The song list was amazing. We love you Paul. Thank you so much for the show, and your band is just totally kick ***!!!

Does anyone have a complete songlist from the show? I lost track quickly.

After a 5 hour car ride (that should have taken 2) in bumper to bumper traffic pretty much the whole way down, that show was just what I needed! As always, an amazing show put on, and an amazing set list. My family and I have not stopped talking about it since we left the stadium!

Same here! Talk of the town!

LOL. Those of us on Facebook are still talking about it and looking at concert photos from last night and it's the wee hours of the morning. Just hard to come down from a Macca high!

Other shows started around 8:40. I think our show started later because soundcheck was late, and I assume that was because of the rainy weather all day
. Possibly, as it was a rainy off and on day weather wise in DC but much worse the day prior. However, that stage is covered and rain or shine as the tickets said is rain or shine. When the Beach Boys (with Brian Wilson, meaning the "real" Beach Boys and not the current Mike Love contrivance) played at Merriweather Post for their historic 50th anniversary, it was no BS and they started 5 minutes after the ticket print show time. I'm not buying the "Paul time" thoughts..sorry to say. He can start closer to time or have something announced. I won't even get started on the length of that film again. The show was great but the pre everything concerned left me cold. They also were late it seemed in even letting people into that ballpark, which created a long backup and may have also delayed the show; still a half hour film is a half hour film and that added to the lateness. That film should have started at 8, I think, since 10 minutes of it was enough for us (and it looped besides)
Bill813:
The last time I went to the Nats ballpark, the subway was packed extremely tight, standing room only with absolutely no room to breathe let alone move. We were literally pressed together with total strangers. Given that experience, and after a very long day which included a 3 hour commute and then standing in three long lines for another 2 hours just to get to our field seats, there was absolutely no way I was putting my 13 year old through that ride and ruin his first McCartney experience. So yeah, I was one of the ones who cut out during the second encore. We got our money's worth, and heard the last songs on the walk to the subway.
Sorry about the subway, Metro is notorious and the green line failed on exit. There was no way we were getting on at Navy Yard along with up to 40,000 others so we walked to the Waterfront station only to travel two stops to find we were being told to exit the train, so we said screw it and walked to Judiciary Square to get on the red line to go home; nothing like a leisurely stroll through crime ridden SE and prostitutes galore above New York Ave to cap the night, but beats being stuck in that Navy Yard station or worse stranded. We expected there to be a mob at the Gallery Place and Metro Center transfer stations but there wasn't at all, which tells me people were having problems getting out. We know how to get through DC because we're local (I don't like Nationals Park at all, it's in a bad location (S.E) and the promenade to the main gate looks like shanty town or something?) (seems nicer than saying "dump". I suppose it's meant to be colloquial? (rhetorical) We got near an exit during the last encore so as not to be stuck in that stadium as we were at field level and am very glad we skipped even trying for Navy Yard after, and enjoyed the "veil of safety" in SE from the crowds walking our route. Still, late night, did not get home till 3 (DC metropolitan area in MD) but great great show! As said in other post, he is the real thing and actually works up there.

Same here. I think we will be talking about this one for quite a while! We were going through the pictures I took last night and thinking about the concert. I'll try to get a few of them posted at some point.

Great closeups, thanks. Keep up the good work!

Great pics Mark! Thanks for sharing them. Here's one of yours.

Ahhhh.... Back from DC and a little more well rested. OK. My concert experience had plenty of highs and lows. It was certainly a high just to be there! I love the excitement leading up to a show. My friend and I drove 3 and a half hours to catch a train to bring us to DC. In the station we met two fantastic ladies who were huge Macca fans. They saw the Beatles when they were teenagers, they've seen Paul many times, Ringo a few times, and they recently saw James. One lady even has a letter from John Lennon when she wrote to him in 1977 and he replied. What a treasure! We got to the stadium early, got our field wristbands and got bored (and claustrophobic) at the tailgate party, so we decided to leave and walk around. We waited for a pretty long time at the limo watch. My friend stood on the curb. I got bored with it and sort of hung back a bit near the truck entrance. I saw Brian Riddle (security) standing outside, so with a plan, I approached him. I had purchased a medium-sized stuffed grasshopper "Harold". I brought him to the show in hopes of convincing someone from the crew to put it on Paul's piano- for a laugh. I handed it to Brian and asked him about it. He said to me, "Oh! Do you have ANY idea how many of these things I have to take back to London now?!" I asked him, " You mean....... I'm not.... original?!" He laughed and said, "Noooooo." But he did say he would give it to the piano guy. COOL! After Paul zipped in, we were taking some photos, and I DID get to meet fellow boardie ktl1983, his girlfriend and two friends. That was great! My friend and I decided to walk around a bit and then return to the tailgate party because that was supposed to be the "faster and easier" way to get in. WRONG! It took FOREVER! I think there were scanning issues. I didn't get to my seat until the pre-show video thingy began. Ktl1983 and his crew were directly behind us. I also get to meet Daisy. I tried my best to hand out the "Drink To Me" signs and explain the plan. Then it was SHOWTIME! We were located in section 5 row 3 seats 19 & 20. A bit too far to the left for a great view. It wouldn't have been too bad if it hadn't been for that confounded camera and crane! It was in the way... A LOT! That crane was a HUGE spoiler to me. The "Drink To Me" bit was a disappointment. I know Paul couldn't hear anyone singing the lyrics over the cheers, but I am CERTAIN he saw and read the signs. I saw minimal reaction from him. However, when Paul went to the piano, and I looked up at the screen and saw him pick up MY Harold, my evening was made! I thought- that was the closest I was getting to MACCA GREATNESS! Afterwards, I was thinking- BOY, I would LOVE to get Harold back! We walked around to the side where Paul came in for soundcheck. I talked to a SUPER NICE roadie who said if he could, he would go look right now, but he was certain it was already tossed in a box. He took my phone number and told me he would call me if he happens to see it. Here's hoping he sees it in Indy tonight and calls me! As for the show, the view was bad, the music was OUTSTANDING! I was SUPER shocked to see so many people in 1st and 2nd row sitting and/or texting... like they were bored- or something. Oh well, I sang and danced the night away! I loved meeting a couple of boardies. Although the signs were not a hit, doing it and having Harold on the piano, I felt a little bit part of the show. Ktl1983-you guys were so friendly and awesome! You made the experience fun too!

Oh that grasshopper was from you! Loved that it was sitting on his piano. I ended up taking a picture of one of the big screens when Paul was sitting at the piano because you could see the grasshopper in it. (couldn't see it off screen from where I was sitting) It was nice meeting you briefly before the show!

I'm sorry the "drink it in" plan didn't go as planned, however congratulations on your grasshopper making it to Paul's piano!
