A really wonderful conversation between them.
Paul joined Taylor on stage at SNL 40th after-party for "I Saw Her Standing There" and "Shake it Off". I think I recall Taylor Swift saying in an interview she was in awe of the way Paul just joined right in for "Shake It Off".

Some people thought that was Sean Lennon in the hat on the right! No way!

Nice relaxed interview but to be honest I'd rather it had between Paul and, say, Kate Bush, someone more his equal. Now that would have been interesting.

I think so, too, Kestrel. Really nice they scored the RS cover though. Oh, Paul (cringe) "Shake it Off"? I find parts of that song cringeworthy, or most of it, not as awful as "Bad Blood" though. Many of hers are really catchy especially the country, country folk pop and folk rock and alternative folk music. Some of those. I like "Better Man" sung by Little Big Town. With her singing voice I think letting others perform her songs is a really good idea. Obviously, many enjoy her singing, I don't know what's wrong with my ears.

My guess is RS wanted to pair McCartney up with somebody much younger and have a discussion of artists/musicians from different generations. If you are going for a young star, I would have liked somebody like Ed Sheeran.

He probably just said Shake It Off because they did it together at the SNL 40th Anniversary after party.

That would have been good! Ed could have told him that Hey Dude would have been much better than Hey Jude!

I suspect your guess is spot on. Its really sad though that Paul is so desperate to sell records that he has to lower himself to be seen on magazine covers with these...youngsters? You don't see artists such as David Gilmour, Roger Waters,Bob Dylan etc etc sharing cover space like that with todays younger artists. I do sometimes wonder who is advising Paul on these promo events....and why he listens to them? Its probably these same marketing guys who whisper in Paul's ear "Don't forget Paul, you need to mention John every few minutes and don't forget to namecheck The Beatles at every opportunity, otherwise the interviewer will have forgotten who they are interviewing".
Which brings me neatly onto a video I saw recently where a group of young male 'footballers' (or some sporting team anyway) were asked to name the individual Beatles......and most of them couldn't. All of a sudden I feel very old.

Perhaps just maybe Paul wanted to do this interview? Doesn't mean he is desperate to sell records, good grief. Paul has teamed up with many musicians of all ages/genres before.

In the article Taylor had said she had met Paul before. I can remember her singing with Paul and maybe Jimmy Fallon? at some party...IMHO it was an interesting article, she seemed interested in Paul’s music. Like her Folklore album too, it was a good read for me.

Yes, this was already discussed yesterday in this thread - they played I Saw Her Standing There and Shake It Off at the SNL 40th Anniversary after-party. Jimmy Fallon was the instigator.

Now that would have been funny !! "Yesterday" was such a cute movie -lol.

Naming the individual names of The Beatles will depend on their parents -lol. My daughter's are in their early 30's and could easily name them. Now, if you asked them to name all the members of the Rolling Stones they would not know anybody but Mick Jagger -lol.
Like I said above, I think this cover was all about Rolling Stone wanting the discussion to be with people from different generations of music. You will find this sad but having Taylor Swift on the cover will sell more copies than just having Paul McCartney probably due to their current demographic of readers.
I don't think Paul mentions John so often with coaching from his team, I actually think he likes to do it over and over again. I actually blame the interviewers a bit because they will still ask him questions that lets him bring up John or The Beatles so often.

I can imagine some of Taylor Swift's fanatical obsessive fans buying Paul's new album just because Taylor likes and admires him. And from there, some of them being inspired to explore his ouevre. He's still so far out of her league, she was really "punching" as the Brits say, to be paired with him in the RS interview. It's interesting to see she's a grown woman now (albeit one with a little girl retro looking hairstyle). It speaks well of Swift that she venerates him. I would have liked to see him paired with a heavy hitter, like him or somewhat like him, since he's in a class of his own. But this was good for him, in a way, beneficial. And for her. She's got a British boyfriend who seems to be her most serious partner so far, so that makes her appreciate England, too.

I guess its partly a generational thing and partly who an individual is interested in. I certainly can't name any of the girls in Little Mix that's for sure.
Its a wonder that they didn't have Paul and Taylor naked on the front cover of Rolling Stone, that would at least have sold even more copies? Sorry,I'm getting very cynical in my old age.
I'm still amazed that Paul hasn't written a song called 'John and I'....although hopefully there is still time?

O...M...G...you can't name Jade, Perrie, Leigh-Anne and Jesy?!! (of course I had to Google Little Mix as I had no idea who the hell they were!)

Wasn't "Early Days" basically a "John And I" song?
