Interesting article about the 12/12/12 Concert album and why Paul and Kanye have so few/no songs on the album, respectively: http://www.nydailynews.com/entertainment/gossip/confidential/short-article-1.1226054?localLinksEnabled=false "As for McCartney, the source tells us his minimal participation was straight-up vanity. 'Egos are also to blame for there only being one Paul track. He didn?t like the way he sounded and would only approve the one on the album. A shame, because ?Blackbird? was so beautiful live!? says the source. It?s ?unfortunate that celebrity ego can tarnish even a concert for charity.'" Take it with a grain of salt, obviously, as it's from The New York Daily News.
Yeah, I read that article, also. Interesting that he "didn't like the way he sounded." Guess he wouldn't have any input into "fixing" things on the album, so he just pulled the songs out.
Too bad, whatever the reason. The Nirvana track deserves to be on there, as does 1985, that was one of the best verisons of that I've seen him do. There are Springsteen tracks missing as well; both of his collaborations with Bon Jovi have been left off, not sure of the reason for that either, but that's also disappointing for me.

There are 2 clear spots (one in My Valentine and one in Blackbird) where Paul's voice fails him. Then in "I've got a Feeling" Rusty strums a wrong chord somewhere in the Middle, so it is understandable Paul wouldn't want to release these, at least without some doctoring made.

And yet he has no problem with his failing voice aired on show after show. Wonder how he thought he sounded after those, and the Jubilee, and the Olympics? Until Sandy, apart from Jools, almost all his telly has been sub-par, and so with a bitter irony, he finally sounds sensational, .. and pulls his songs.

Yes, quite weird.

Well, after all I've heard from Kanye West, not much really, he's not a genius but he's not bad either. I like the piano melody on Late Orchestration, at least. But, he's number one in so-called "dating" good-looking women. Yet, about looks, I don't know if they're intelligent, have a great personality... but Kanye West has the hottest "whosdatedwho" list ever, lol. http://www.whosdatedwho.com/tpx_3279/kanye-west/

Maybe he has plans do release them on his own in the future.

Well if he doesn't like how they sound, I don't really think he'll be releasing them.
-
Can't he do something with them in the studio to make them sound better. I thought Nineteen Hundred and Eighty-Five was great.

My point, exactly.
-
Since the concert and album are both for charity, I can't picture him releasing him later for profit, or frankly on his website for free (Paul doesn't give out much free stuff, as we've noticed.). I guess we'll have to make do with bootlegs.

I wonder if that article is true Paul has taken on the fearsome reaction to the summer's performances here in the UK and decided to keep it down to one song?dunno just thinking out load i suppose. The songs i would have added would only be 1985 if I'm honest,Valentine while a nice song isn't really suited to this album (or show tbh).the same could be said of Blackbird although he did a really good version of it that night,,as for the song with Grohl and Co sorry its just not good enough, there i've said it.its not a bad song as a helter skelter tribute but hell i'd sooner listen to the original than listen to that frankly, its not a bad song just an average song i can see why it was left off.

Won't be buying the album since I have it all on audio.. sounds excellent what Ive heard so far....

I tend to agree with you on this one--limit it to the best-sounding song (in Paul's mind, anyway). I also stick by my comments in the "radio silence" thread about him wanting to keep a low profile for a bit, at least until the new album comes out.

There are bootlegs of the audio out there--I've got it as well, just have to break it up into the individual songs, as it's just 6 straight hours right now on my iPod... Gotta love those crazy bootleggers!

I've still got the whole thing on my DVR and am in the process of recording it onto a DVD with the recorder my daughter gave me for Xmas in 2011 and I never hooked up! I need another HDMI cable!
