A new movie called "Revolver" to star father and daughter Ethan Hawke and Maya Hawke has a big Beatles slant. Maya's character yearns for and plans to meet George when the Fabs hole up in a hotel in her city prior to performing.  It sounds like a comedy, might be fun and cute.

I assume you're using the term "meet" quite loosely! 😂 Her plan is to lose her virginity to George!

(Laughs) I know that's why she wants to meet George, Nancy R, I read that but in a rare moment of restraint declined to mention it. Sounds like a funny premise. Could turn out to be an amusing flick.

"A rare moment of restraint" 😂😂😂

Agree - want to see it. Could be really good like the movie I Wanna Hold Your Hand!

IMO Yesterday was 7 out of 10 stars, but not a ten.  It could have ended differently to (SPOILERS ) give the Beatles more of a real presence in the film and had them show up as themselves somehow.... to claim their music.

The "Revolver" film sounds like it'll be in the same genre as "I Wanna Hold Your Hand".

MORE SPOILERS! Yeah, the part where you think that John & Paul are showing up turns out to be only a dream! I still liked it a lot. Agree that Revolver will probably be more like I Wanna Hold Your Hand. I hope we actually get to at least see "George" though!

"George" ? Is a movie in the works about George Harrison, Nancy?

I hope the proposed movie about Brian Epstein is actually made and comes out.

I'd like to see a movie about Paul; that t.v. movie didn't seem like much. Not like a "Nowhere Boy" big screen movie accomplishment.

I think George Harrison's life was sufficiently interesting to lend itself to a "Nowhere Boy" type big screen feature length film. Lots of drama including, unfortunately, his nearly being murdered. Some  sexy, romantic stuff which turns to drama with his love story with Pattie, and his many intrigues with other women. George experienced a push and pull between spiritual austerity and hedonism and he laughed about his immersion in Eastern thought, said "I bet the others think I'm crazy," or words to that effect. George was the first Beatle to visit what was to them the Promised Land of America. He was quite witty and wry  and sharp in his remarks,  like the other Fabs.( They all have great senses of humor.) I read he had to use an outhouse growing up, his family was so poor. Interesting that he experienced both extremes, financially. It's interesting, rather unusual for a rock star, that he truly believed in God and wasn't shy, embarrassed or wary about talking and singing about it.  He does seem more religious and spiritual minded than the other Beatles, though they're not averse to it.  They heeded the siren call of the Far East too, in their own manner.  George's story features tragedy in his dying from cancer at a fairly young age. He'd been prolific and no telling what music he would have come out with,  had he more time to learn and grow. Maybe another masterpiece, like "All Things Must Pass." He had some French in him as well as Irish and English. I read some of his ancestors hailed from Normandy.  George is  often touted as the most talented guitarist in the Beatles.  The Traveling Wilburys were rather unique--and of course the Fabs seemed to start it all when it comes to rock and pop bands or super star groups, heightened it vastly further  after Buddy Holly's band, and "skiffle."  George Harrison is a huge part of legendary music history!  So it's a bit ironic he sometimes expressed ambivalence about being in the Beatles and sometimes even said he disliked or regretted that some. Said Beatlemania had gotten on his nerves.

I was speaking of the "George" character in Revolver! In the movie I Wanna Hold Your Hand we only see brief glimpses of their boots or the back of their heads. I'm hoping we actually get to see the girl with an actor playing George.

What TV movie about Paul are you talking about?

"What t.v. movie about Paul"--it was actually "The Linda McCartney Story" I think. Was on a couple years after she passed away. It seemed kind of superficial  offering only shallow fleeting glimpses, didn't go into much depth, if any. Not much mention  or depiction of her veggie factory food business,  espousal of animal rights and love for them.  It opened with Linda on the boat in New York with the Stones, when she met and photographed them, and implied she spent the night with Mick ! If it's okay to mention that. I've read that she really did, and Mick  wrote a sexy  line in "Honky Tonk Women" about her.  The t.v. movie ended with Linda passing away in her bed at their Arizona ranch while Paul and their daughters looked on. It showed Stella and Mary holding each other and crying. The Paul character spoke his famous last words to her about riding her horse. The film makers chose an actor to play him who looked sort of like a girl. No famous actors.

I remember a t.v. movie about John with Yoko, called, maybe, The Ballad of John and Yoko. It seemed rather superficial too. I don't recall watching much of that one. Ironically and horribly I seem to recall the actor who played John had the same name as the infamous you know who, the killer--they should have chosen another to play John.

I've seen The Linda McCartney Story many times. It opens with Linda having a showing of her photography, and then flashes back to the past. The actor who played Paul, Gary Bakewell, looked a lot like Paul. I thought he was very good looking and certainly not like a girl! He also played Paul in Backbeat. The movie was based on the book by Linda's friend, Danny Fields, which is called Linda McCartney: A Portrait.

I read Danny Fields' book about Linda; she deserves a much better book than that. He got digs in at her several times.Rather shocking,  hateful digs--he seemed jealous of her, reading those parts. And yet he touted himself as her best friend in N.Y.  I only saw "The Linda McCartney Story" once and missed some of it.  Didn't watch it all, and have forgotten most of it.  You must have it on DVD to have seen it a lot of times.

I first recorded it on VHS off the TV, then somebody burned me a DVD of it. I've probably seen it at least 5 or 6 times since 2000. Been a lot longer since I read the book. I don't remember any "hateful digs." He was gay, so maybe he WAS jealous of her and Paul! 😂  The one negative thing I remember was him talking about how she just dropped all her NY friends once she got together with Paul in the fall of 1968. A lot of people are like that though. They can't seem to maintain friendships if the person doesn't live close-by anymore.
