Yoko comes across as quite controlling...from the very beginning.  What she told John to do, he did it.  Take five years off!  Done.  Take May Pang with you to Los Angeles to be your lover.  Done.  Double Fantasy won't be John on side one ane me on side two.  Nobody will listen to side two.  (She had that right. wink)  I t will be a John song then my song.  We will alternate.  (Actually, at the time, I thought Yoko's songs were a little more up-to-date in sound and more relevant to the music scene at the time.  I sort of thought......Damn, she is trying to show him up...he's stuck in the past in style....catchy, but not modern sounding....and I'm modern and up to the very second.)  When were you born?  You are in need of taking time off too, she told Jack Douglas.  John wrote in "How do You Sleep," that Paul "...jumps when your mama tells you anything." Uh, I would say it was kinda vice versa.  Just my overall impression.  My friend read the complete article too and said....."Damn, she was a real bitch!"  I sorta couldn't disagree.  Sorry, Yoko..

I was thinking about Double Fantasy the other week and I was planning to make a post about it on-line somewhere  but I can't remember now if I did or not?

Anyway, what had occured to me was that if John hadn't have been killed, and if he was still making and releasing albums, would Double Fantasy be all but forgotten today?  I think DF was John's 7th album proper but had he not died, he'd probably be on something like his 21st album by now. It was just a thought that had crossed my mind.

Remember how later John said that How Do You Sleep was really about himself? 😂 Yeah, the pot calling the kettle black!

Were you asking me when I was born? Or was that in reference to the Astrology stuff Yoko was into?

Yeah, for someone who rebelled against his Aunt Mimi's controlling ways, he sure seemed to like Yoko's managing of his life! (And he called her "Mother!")

I think John's contribution to Doube Fantasy contains some of his best songs.

              Woman, brilliant.

              Watching the Wheels....spine-tingling.

Starting Over.... a little of Elvis.

Beautiful Boy.... beautiful, moving song. Was it not one of Paul's faves?

I love every one of those songs John contributed to that album.

If only they cast aside Yoko's contributions ( a couple of them were OK) and instead included the great Nobody Told Me.

I'm not generally a fan of Yoko's music, but her songs on Double Fantasy are very solid and play well off John's. And her idea of alternating them as a sort of dialog was the absolute right call.

Agreed!  John wrote those songs to Yoko as an equal partner and it makes sense that an album titled DOUBLE FANTASY would have Yoko's songs alternating, in my opinion.
