Hey, what about Paul and his famous mashed potatoes?!
-
Love watching Paul make mashed potatoes... there were a few times I was worried he was going to cut his fingers, but he still did a good job
reposting the George Harrison Lentil Soup recipe, because after the 30 minute rule, the original post bunched everything together, and it's difficult to read! Hopefully it won't happen again! [edited to add... on the old maccaboard, after 30 minutes the formatting on a post changed where there was no line spacing.]

It's a little early but found this Ringo recipe for Christmas cookies. Whether it's a joke or Ringo actually put this as an insert for a Christmas album, I don't know... Would be good to have this at Christmas with a cup of John Lennon's hot cocoa... previously posted recipe in this thread
Found this recipe at https://www.reddit.com/r/RingoStarr/comments/rnljam/the_official_recipe_for_ringo_starrs_christmas/?rdt=48525

@ladyleslie What is a âdl?â Sounds like some crazy shit he just made up!

@njr said in John, George & Ringo recipes:
@ladyleslie What is a âdl?â Sounds like some crazy shit he just made up!
Looked it up and found out a "dl" is a decilitre. It's 1/10th of a liter.In American measurement, 1 decilitre (dl) = 1/4 cup + 2 Tablespoons + 1 teaspoon.... probably about 1/3 cup
-
@ladyleslie Iâd love to hear if somebody actually tries that recipe and how it turns out!
-
@njr I'm going to try to make this recipe and will let you know how it goes! Only problem is finding "vanilla sugar"... which is an ingredient in the recipe. I think it's available at gourmet stores and places like "Whole Foods" or "Natural Grocers."
-
@ladyleslie Maybe they meant what we call vanilla extract.

Is there a general recipe exchange thread? I'm sure many folks here have good recipes not necessarily related to the Fabs, vegitarian or otherwise.
-
@bruce-m There is a general vegetarian / vegan recipe thread, but you could create a general recipe exchange one if you want.

John Lennon's Method for Cooking Rice
https://eppysboys.tumblr.com/post/672358804876361728
"John Lennon at the Dakota showing me how to cook rice the proper way.â ă Ą drawing by Klaus Voormann, 2004Excerpt from Memories Of John Lennon by Yoko Ono (published 2005)
"Letâs go back in the kitchen. What time is it? Oh yes, I have to check out the bread I put in the oven, and I should put the rice on. Otherwise we wonât have anything for dinner. Iâll show you how to cook rice the proper wayâ.
John took me by the arm and pulled me to the stove. This was John and Yokoâs macrobiotic phase, and they took it very seriously.
âYou are what you eat. An old Indian saying, did you know that?â.
John looked at me over the edge of his glasses as if he were testing me.
âNoâ, I answered, âBut it somehow sounds goodâ.
I must say, I myself had very seriously watched over what I was gulping down my throat for some years now. Really since 1970, when I was living at Friar Park with George and Pattie. Pattieâs wonderful cooking turned me into a vegetarian in no time.
âNow, watch me very closelyâ.
Out of one of the cupboards, he pulled out a pot, in which he poured in a few hands full of brown rice.
âAnd now comes the important part!â. Johnâs face was serious when he filled me in to the art of rice cooking.
âNow you have to put your hand on the rice. Like this, you see?â. He moved over a little to the side so I could have a better look into the pot. John was putting his right hand into the pot on top of the rice. âNow you pour the water over your hand, but please wash before you do that!â.
âYou mean the rice or the hand?â
âKlaus, I ask you! Of course the hand. So donât touch the rice with dirty handsâ. He took a can of water and poured it into the pot.
âYou only pour as much water into the pot until the back of your hand is covered with water. Now watch me closely â like thisâ.
He slowly let the water run over his hand. âBy watching your face, I would assume this is cold not boiling waterâ.
âVery well observed, my boy. Donât try to be funny now. I donât go for German jokes. Now you add a little salt, like this, and then you let the whole thing simmer and when the water has evaporated, then the rice is ready to be eatenâ.
âAnd how long will that be?â
âRoughly about forty-five minutes. Brown rice needs much longer than that bleached white stuffâ.
Johnâs eyes sparkled with enragement. âDid you know that you get depressions from white rice? Did you? Iâll give you this book called Sugar Blues. I promise you when you read this book, you wonât touch a piece of sugar again. The kids in school should be forced to read this book. They try to manipulate us all and make us sick. This time the sweet wayâ
I changed the subject to talk a little about music for a change.
âOh Klaus, itâs not like it was anymore. Thereâs no balls in all that stuff any more. Listen to our Bob Dylan. All he does is love songs: âlay across my big brass bedâ and such! Where is the message? Where is the revolution? We all have a vocation, a duty!â. John very excitedly wiggled around with his cooking spoon.
âDonât you have to stir this?â, I asked.
John stopped his excited talk for a moment, gave the pot a quick look and continued talking. âNo, no, I told you. If you do it the way I told you with pouring the water over your hand, nothing can happen â and donât dare stir the rice! Youâre gonna make it all 'mushi, matchiââ.
John put the cooking spoons to the side, picked up two clean kitchen towels, opened the oven and took out his loaf of bread. He put it on a wooden board. It really smelled delicious.
âJust listen to his voice on the new record. He sounds all soft and sweet. There is no bite to it. I tell you, itâs not like it was beforeâ. He lifted the lid and with a pleased look on his face proclaimed: âI think we can eat now, the rice is finishedâ.
