Paul McCartney 2015 Rumors
-
Wow, this thread has surely taken a negative turn . I think most of us are thrilled that Paul is still touring! I'll go see him as long as he is. He really doesn't need the money. I think he just loves singing and bringing so much happiness to people and gaining fans from the younger generation along the way. I've loved him since 1963 and hope to see him perform again in October. Still a thrill after all these years.

Oh gosh, now that I see all the "eastern" gigs being announced, I just have one thing to say: Come west "young" man!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I doubt he will do any more shows this year. But maybe.
I thought he was done after the summer! We just never know!
I know! OUT THERE could go three more years!
Out There... On The Run / Up and Coming... His touring is never ending - and all the same markets. He can call it what he likes but the essence of them is all the same.
Robert, I knew this was your post before I even saw who posted it!

Sour grapes will always exist. Gets tiring after a while.

We should ban Australians and New Mexicans from this thread

Great post.

This is the longest tour of Paul's career: nearly two-and-a-half years, from early May 2013 to late October 2015. I hope the next one will promote a new album too!

Australia is still in the dog house from the last time Paul tried to tour there. Sales were not god, to say the least. This seems to have left a never ending bad taste in Paul's mouth. He had two chances recently with the Japan shows to couple it up with Australia in 2013 & 2015 but did not. I am starting to believe that he thinks that it would be tough to sell out multiple shows there and it's not worth his time to go do one. Hope I'm wrong but that may be the thinking. One thing that has been proven over and over and over and over again is that North and South America can never be over done. The shows will continue to sell out and be a hot ticket. So I can't blame him altogether that he continues to go to places that obviously wants him but in doing so, has left a bad taste in the Aussie fans mouths. I'm surprised an interviewer never asked him if he ever would return to Australia

Don't know how easy that will be as he has yet to set foot in a studio to start recording a new album. If he is truly retooling as you say, I would say that it does not include songs from a new album. And let's face it, his track record for "retooling" is usally 2 or 3 songs different from the last tour if we measure it by past behavior

He has been asked, Bob; by fans and interviewers/reporters. His replies have been positive. But still he never comes.

Read the Uncut magazine article today. It's an average interview. One thing he says is that he'd like to tour unincumbered by songs like "Hey Jude" and be able to do some of his "deeper" tracks. That is the kind of retooling I'd like to see but I certainly won't hold my breath waiting for it! Don't think we'll see that in our lifetime. But if you're up for a challenge Paul, I double dog dare you to try!!!!!!

Yeah, and just think how much $?£ they can save not having to lug around 1,000 tons of stage and light crap, if they do a simpler production.

Smaller markets are not guaranteeing sellouts for him Pittsburgh and Charlottesville had decent tickets available from the venue day of the show...not normal based on my other experiences... There are some cities that Paul can rely on, but getting too adventurous in the Americas doesn't seem to be panning out like Paul's team keeps hoping. In other words, he may as well go to Australia and risk it there for his fans. He's Paul McCartney...can the ticket sales be THAT bad that he'd lose money? I find it hard to believe.

Depends on what you mean by "losing money." Paul could play smaller markets, Australia, etc. and still make money. The question is, would it be ENOUGH money?

That's where I have a serious problem with Paul's supposed strategy. It irritates me very, very much...not enough to stop seeing him! But that's just the moral bind I find myself in! Same for his dripping of tour dates one at at time. It's 100% disrespectful to his fans.

It's not really Paul that would lose the money. Remember, he gets his guaranteed fee upfront. So it's the promoter who takes a chance that the concerts will sell out. Otherwise, the promoter loses the money because he still has to pay Paul, whether they sell 20,000 tickets or 2. If a promoter loses money on Paul once, they probably won't be too likely to have him return. Or perhaps it is some promoters who cannot raise the guarantee. Wasn't there one guy who offered to pay it himself, personally, and then asked the city to reimburse him? I remember there was a story about that a while back.

Here's a thought: crowdfunding. Meaning: you get several thousand fans to pay his fee (and other expenses) for a concert in a big city like New York. If he would allow that, it would the ideal opportunity for him to do a "no hits" concert as he said that he would like to.

This is a great idea. I was recently watching Simon and Garfunkel's Central Park concert, and I kept thinking about how great it would be if McCartney played in a place like that. It would be the perfect opportunity to play a rarities show, and he would have no problem attracting a massive crowd.
