Paul McCartney 2015 Rumors

No one has said why the Billboard ad said there were 16 sold out concerts on the Out There tour, but Billboard clearly shows at least 35, including 21 this year. Any thoughts??
I dont think it was a typo they just didn't sell out maybe,no big deal very few artists seem to completely sell out dates nowadays.
It has been mentioned how he may be saturating the market. And actually, it is a big deal in the sense that McCartney is a world-class artist, so he really should sell out each date. U2 is touring in 2015 and I cannot imagine their manager and promoter saying, "No big deal if some shows don't sell out, very few artists seem to completely sell out dates nowadays." I also don't believe McCartney's team thinks that way either. If they did, he would have played Albuquerque, Australia, and Horsens already.

I think they dug a little too deep this year and hit some cities to quickly as a follow-up to his last time in town. The Pittsburgh concert I attended is a prime example. He was just there for two nights in 2010 and they were still selling seats at the top price level on the day of the show. I'd say it as about 95% full, but there were some smaller noticeable gaps...which would be fine and dandy for some, but unacceptable for Sir Paul.

i would still see Paul in 2015. maybe he should play smaller venues.

U2 is playing arenas in 2015. Why can't McCartney?

Maybe the other shows on the tour didn't sell out.
Sorry, I misspoke there: The Billboard ad said there were 16 sold-out concerts on the Out There tour, but the official numbers show that at least 35 shows from the Out There tour sold out, including 21 sold-out shows in 2014 alone. So what's the deal? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Out_There_(tour) (Follow link, and click the last item under Music.)

I've been to 13 arena gigs i think it is this year all "big" names (ok not Paul he doesn't do the UK at the moment )just one,The Eagles has been a total sell out,the latest gig Peter Gabriel sold about 8000 seats the other night from an arena the holds about the 11000 seat mark, this is happening certainly in my neck of the woods time and again. You simply cant compare U2 to Paul, they've barely toured in the last few years so you'd expect them to sell out quick as i flash,Paul on the other hand hasnt stopped touring in that time so there are going to be gaps, its not rocket science people become over familiar with him and prefer to miss out on a gig knowing he'll be round within seemingly 12 months in some cases,i would though go as far as to say that its a testament to Paul that he does night after night play to full/nearly full arenas/stadiums i cant think of anyone else who could do it frankly, though i stand by what i say he needs to rest up areas that have been well served over the last few years, give people a reason to miss him, though i suspect the age thing is a factor now in his tour planning

Paul played arenas this past summer and fall. Not all were arenas but a lot of them were.

Paul was just on the "Today" show in the U.S., in a brief interview, and they started by saying to Paul, "So you've just wrapped up an 18-month tour..." Paul didn't dispute that phrase, so I guess that's more evidence that OUT THERE (as a tour name) is over.

?We haven't gotten any concrete plans except in April, I think we're going back to Japan. But other than that, we haven't filled in. I've got some other little things to do in the meantime. I'm going to do a little bit of writing.? - from one of the 10 interviews by satellite in the US this morning.

Japan April 2015. Cool.

Hopefully South Korea, too...

Agree, Paul and U2 are not really comparable, esp. as for this tour, U2 are doing a minimum of 2 shows in every city. And actually not all of their shows are selling out so fast. There are currently 4 shows on sale in Los Angeles and a couple of them still have many seats available, versus Chicago and Boston, very strong markets for U2 - those cities have 2 shows on sale so far and those tickets are pretty much gone. U2 are also selling tickets for shows that aren't even happening until NEXT YEAR - lately Paul doesn't give us much more than a few weeks to buy our tickets ahead of time.

Yeah, his way is just better.

Yeah, his way is just better.
Not better, just different. I do like knowing the whole schedule of cities in advance, of course.

All indications are that won't change. That's one of the many reasons I don't travel to see McCartney any more. I can't just drop what I am doing for a concert. I'm going to Denver in June to see Cheap Trick/Peter Frampton at Red Rocks, I have seven months to plan that!

Paul's Japanese tours are usually announced well in advance (2-4 months) compared to North/South America, so I'm guessing the official confirmation will come no later than February. That's when we'll know whether it will be a new tour (with updated setlist), and possibly other countries will have finalized their deals by then as well.

Nancy R:
Cool. But what is this last paragraph all about????? A new Paul McCartney album, ?Live at the Electric Proms 2007,? quietly debuted this month on iTunes in the U.S. and several other countries, including Sweden, Mexico and Brazil, but strangely, not in the UK. The 17-track album includes several songs McCartney has not performed live on his recent Out There! tour, including ?Hey Jude,? ?Live and Let Die,? ?Baby Face,? ?Blackbird,? ?Back in the USSR,? ?Band on the Run,? ?Elearnor Rigby,? ?Calico Skies,? ?Get Back,? ?Got To Get You Into My Life,? ?I Saw Her Standing There,? ?Flaming Pie,? ?Only Mama Knows,? ?Dance Tonight,? ?Lady Madonna,? ?Magical Mystery Tour? and ?Let It Be.?

Probably read about the Electric Proms bit on here.

Paul said on the "Today" show that he likes to announce concerts one date at a time so he can be sure how it sells before committing to more. Seems to explain a lot.
